Mexico (Modular)

Hi! I love your Module!! :D, I think Charreada (stable) its a great unique building specially for war  but I was wondering... What do you think about the Zócalo (market)? maybe its more for Buildier-Cultural-Type leaders, but there are Zócalos in almost every City (or Small towns) in Mexico. These are the main symbols of those places, and many historical, cultural and social events take place in there!, and could be interesting the effects in civilization! i have some ideas (If you think its an overpowered building you can modify some aspects):

1.- +1 :health: from Corn (Corn its very important to Mexico not only because its use on the gastronomy, also its the principal crop in the economy of mexico, for use and commerce)

2.- +1 :) from Hit Singles (Zócalos are used also for cultural events like concerts) plus the normal :) from Silk, Fur, Ivory and Whales

3.- +2 :culture: (As I said, are the main symbols of those places, and many historical, cultural and social events take place there!)

4.- +1 Artist and +1 Merchant (instead of 2 Merchants hehe not many :gold: bonuses  )

5.-Requires Temple (Religion has been always an important part of Mexican culture, besides, All Zócalo Have a Temple! :mischief:)

6.- More :hammers: cost

As you see only if the civ reaches Corn and Hit Singles it get the 100% of the effects.
So what do you think? For me Zócalo its more like a Market than a Colosseum (many shops are around them, are the center of the cities).

With Zócalo I can't see why we could give a -X% War, instead we can say that with some events (hit singles) they distract people

And I have to say... Mexico have never been Warmonger! ;)

It would be awesome if other civfanatics members comment about it! :goodjob:

I think these are very good ideas
And it's not overpowered this way, if there is the temple requirement the more cost is not even necessary. If there is no temple reqirement (I'm not sure have easy is this to solve in python) then it can be slightly more expensive, but not by much.
It's fairly well balanced :goodjob:

I think it has too many bonuses. I think a good cultural bonus is probably good.

A Tianguis market replacement is also a good idea for a UB.

OK, then what about keeping:
the first (corn),
the second (Hit singles),
the third (1 Artist instead 1 merchant)
and the temple requirement (if not, the "more cost" thing)
and remove the bonus of culture

OR

the first (corn),
the second (Hit singles),
The bonus of Culture
Temple/more :hammers: cost
and remove the replace of Artist and merchant

I don't know if the very first Idea was giving too much bonuses, but thinking that if corn or hit singles aren't in the list of resources that the civ have, I think its ok. Anyway in the end the final choice is with strategyonly hehehe :crazyeye:

Well I didn't thought in that! its an awesome idea too, but the tianguis are a more Aztec-ish (:crazyeye:) bound (not including the Maya or Yucatán side), anyway thinking in the bonuses *here comes my crazy imagination again!* we could have:

1.- 15% :gold: from 20% (cause it's very common to find bad but cheap merchandise)
2.- +2 culture (traditionally there are indigenous pepole selling regional things)
3.- the Corn thing!

and the normal market characteristics.

I like both ideas, here are the little wikipedia despcriptions (for more references)

Zócalo:

Spoiler :
The Zócalo is the main plaza or square in the heart of the historic center of Mexico City. The plaza used to be known simply as the "Main Square" or "Arms Square," and today its formal name is "Constitution Square" (Plaza de la Constitución).[1] This name does not come from any of the Mexican constitutions that have governed the country but rather from the Cádiz Constitution which was signed in Spain in 1812. However, it is almost always called the "Zócalo" today. This word literally means "base" or "plinth". Plans were made to erect a column as a monument to Independence, but only the base, or zócalo, was ever built.[1] The plinth was destroyed long ago but the name has lived on. Many other Mexican towns and cities, such as Oaxaca and Guadalajara, have adopted the word "zócalo" to refer to their main plazas.

Tianguis:

Spoiler :
Tianguis (Tianquiztli) is a Mexican word derived from the Mexican indigenous language Nahuatl, or Aztec language, and is still frequently used today in Mexico to describe an open public market, i.e., a street market. Traditionally, the word has been used to describe markets where most of the vendors are indigenous Mexican farmers and craftsmen, however the use of the word has expanded to often include flea markets and other venues frequented by itinerant vendors. The word is most often used in areas that were traditional strongholds of the Aztec empire.
From the time of the Aztecs, so-called "tianguis" are organized as open-air markets. There, all sorts of products, from food and animals to baskets and mats were sold and traded. At the present time, tianguis can be seen throughout the city.

Hello i just downloaded this mod and from what it looks like, it is very good. Though the thing is, i can't play it. If someone can tell me how to install this to my game, i would really appreciate it. :goodjob:

Ok so its on the game but wen i try to select it, the game shuts off and a message appears saying" Civ4 Beyond the Sword has encountered problems and must exited". Do you know y this is happening or how you can fix it? Srry that i keep askin for help, im new to all this.

Ok so the only thing that is not in my Config. settings is this part

"; Read Game options from XML, not .ini
ForceGameOptions = 0"

That's the only thing that is missing from mine

So its working or what? In what i gave you all you have to do is add ANY module in the Custom Civilization folder and it WILL work.

Ok still didn't work even with me putting in that part, i think i may have stopped it too early, when should i stop the game to change the modular XML loading? i stopped it when the game was loading to start

Well i tried another thing, i entered a custom game and it worked sorta. it loaded and everything but i didn't see the leaderhead. I pressed the icon for the dialogue interface between nations and the leader that was not a mod worked fine, but the other one that was part of the mod didn't. When i did press the "contact" button in the game for Hidalgo, the game immediately shut down and the same message appeared saying that Civ 4 Beyond the Sword had problems.

Should i tell u what i did to download and install the mod?

OK with that Copy Civ all you had to do was "Just place the Mexico civ in the Custom Civ folder, and poof thats it, then start the game, go to advanced start, pick copy civ and play."
