mIII - OCC in Mesopotamia

How about popping that hut? May be barbs, but it may not be, and with an OCC, we need to risk it, IMO. Pretty good turn, IMO.

A few ideas:

After the aqueduct finishes we could build 2-3 Tyrian Guards and attack Uruk, we would almost certainly win, and we would enter our golden age at the same time. Then we could start straight away on the Collosus, and we could finish that very quickly with the GA boost. We could easily make peace with Babylon after 6 turns or so and we would also get a few VP's from unit kills and capturing the city.

The Wheel is probably not the best technology to be researching. I think researching the tech after sailing (Astronomy I think), which gives us a wonder, or Polytheism would be better. The Wheel does nothing for us, chariots aren't particularly useful as units. Astronomy could probably wait awhile, as we still are up Woodworking, and Sailing, so that wonder is almost guaranteed. I think we should aim for Polytheism next, to build the Temple of Artemis, or we could go for Epic Work Projects (this is after building The Colossus).

@improviser your set up of attack is exactly what I thought, so this should work well
also, I chose the wheel because it is mandatory, nobody was working on it (most likely), and it cost the least to find and I thought I could get a valuable 2fer for it. Then again, I was also thinking someone would just change the tech too

ok, I reenter (my own) sg... . But it's ok, play first, improviser.

One question: Shall we really go to war with babylon now? Will the GA not be bad (Despotism doesn't exist in this game, does it?)?

And you can be sure that they will send settlers again... and again and again... :) so secure that resource pls (as long as we need it... :) )

 Mitsho i'm in a lot of game with you, and you seem to not know who is next on roster. You should try going to the first post and reading the log and seeing who went last to figure out who is up, with you and gogf gone it kinda messed up the game play but nothing to major.

Yes, we are in despotism, but the only wonder we can build without stone is The Colossus IIRC. Tribal council still has the tile penatly, and we are still a way off getting Oligarchy or Monarchy which remove the tile penalty. The golden age will also quick start us on to getting The Collosus, and then we can start straight on another wonder.

I will be playing very shortly- @ mitsho, sorry for jumping ahead :(

Preturn- Sumeria and Mycenae have Diplomacy, but I cannot see the point in acquiring that technology yet-
I will wait until it shipped around some more. Everything is looking good in the game :). No-one has
started a wonder yet. I will keep sending the Archer north- we need to contact the Hittites, to see if
we can pull any techs off them. If we do contact them, we shouldn't trade around the contact.

Turn 1- (2370 BC) Workers begin a road, the warrior in Sumeria is sent north as well. Babylon has picked
up a technology.

Turn 2- (2340 BC) I send two workers to begin roading down to the Ivory, which is needed for the SOZ.
Medes show up with The Wheel and I get it off them for COL. It's perhaps not a very good trade, but the
Medes are backward in technology (they lack Mining), and we can stop research on the Wheel, the time to
get it didn't drop at all. I start break-even research on Astronomy, due in 16 turns.

Turn 3- (2310 BC) The Aqueduct completes and I start building 3 Tyrian Guards (to take Uruk) and then
will start on The Collosus straight away.

Turn 4-(2280 BC)
A barbarian warrior shows up to the South, and I get the warrior out of Tyre to deal with him. The AI
civs are acquiring a few more techs, but they are still a long way behind.

Turn 5-(2250 BC) I kill the Arab barbarian, who was on a hut, and then I pop a conscript warrior from the
hut. We are behind on victory points by 5 on Mycenae.

Turn 6-(2220 BC) A second Tyrian guard is started. Babylon has a monpoly on Oligarchy. I will buy into
it and revolt before attacking Uruk.

Turn 7-(2190 BC) Mycenae has picked up all available techs and is up diplomacy on us. I don't think we
should have traded around contacts at all... but maybe there was no choice. We are level in tech with
Egypt. I get Diplomacy off Cyaxares for 5 gold and Masonry. Babylon still has a monopoly on Oligarchy.

Turn 8-(2160 BC) The scouting warrior sees an orange border. Gilgamesh has picked up Oligarchy as well.
I can acquire it for 3 techs and all our gold to Babylon, but I will wait a bit longer.

Turn 9-(2130 BC) Tyre starts the 3rd Tyrian guard. Nothing much apart from that. I am preparing the tiles
around Tyre for a revolt into Oligarchy, and the Golden Age. (I do not think we can wait until Monarchy
to change governments, and Monarchy is only slightly better than Oligarchy).

Turn 10-(2100 BC) Oops, the orange border is actually a Medes border. Sorry... but we will be in a
position to contact the Hittites in a few turns, we can see some of their cities on our minimap, east
of Mycenae. There is still no real progress on the tech front. We are down Oligarchy, but we can get
that off Babylon. I think we should wait for one more civ to pick up the tech.. or until our 3rd Tyrian
Guard completes, before buying it. We must get rid of Tyre and take out Uruk asap. We will have a huge
advantage when building wonders as we have a size 7 city, and the largest AI city I've seen is size 2.

I don't think this was a particularly good set of turns from my point of view. The AI are now all caught up in tech, and we need to hope for no wars, and at least 3, preferably 4 wonders. This game will probably last for the full length of turns. Sorry in advance for any :smoke: moves or worker actions.

@Mitsho well, I was just telling you that in the other games we are playing in you didn't know who was playing and I was just suggesting you check on the first few posts instead of asking, that's all.

@Improviser Ya, I can kind of be blamed for trading communications around, it really has been causing problems for us but we will have even greater problems then you think in a few turns. Soon Egypt, Sumeria, and Babylon will be building cities right around our resources like crazy. We need to figure out what we're going to do about this soon.
