FTB seems too much like Tekkit to me (seeing that it uses the main mods).

Speaking of which, I do like (most) of the 1.5 restone updates coming, including the lighting engine (light sensors, too!), and what seems like some very redpower/buildcraft/industrialcraft-like items (with the simplicity of vanilla Minecraft crafting). I think there's a ton of stuff that's been on everyone's wishlist for lighting since Minecraft Alpha that'll be included. The unfortunate thing is, it seems BUD switches are going to be nerfed.

I built an elevator inside Minecraft Tekkit using support frames and frame motors, nothing unusual about that. However, I built a huge redpower2 logic circuit to control it though. This is a good video for anyone who enjoys redpower logic circuit builds.

Apparently v1.5 will include the mod API, new lighting system, & redstone update. It may be the best update yet. Release is January.

The server seems to be incredibly glitchy and slow. My computer was down to 1 fps for a while but it has 3GB of memory. I also had fast graphics on. I even lost all my wood once. Any idea why?

Increases the damage done by the sword. The levels correspond to how much extra damage is actually dealt.
