After much delay due to unrelated software compatibility issues, the new version is ready. I decided to drop the beta designation because the only actual bug I've found in my last Japan game through the mid industrial age was a tech box position which I've confirmed is fixed. There are still a few questions of balance relating to some of my changes, which are probably better addressed by having more people play it!

It looks like I have an earlier version downloaded. Where can I find the current version?

Never mind. I should have used my eyes more.

So the solution to the problems of gaming is more gaming?

I was riffing on the old Aristotelian saw about how the problems of democracy are solved with more democracy.

Surprise update! After a recent discussion about how silly it is that the tech tree has alphabet as a prerequisite to writing and a boat unit, I realized that simply renaming the tech to "Trade" makes it all make sense: it leads to writing and math (both developed in part to keep track of trade), it provides a civilian boat, and it's a starting tech for commercial civs. I just borrowed an icon from the Conquests and a few lines of text from Rob, and voila, silliness resolved. I also took the opportunity to throw in two simple graphic fixes: Pounder's fix for the transport window leftovers, and my own for the dark orange (used by Netherlands) civ color palette. I'm calling this a patch version since there are no rule changes and you can apply all but the tech name itself without starting a new game.
