Minor Suggestions Thread

A bunch of suggestions:

Please correct Afrosiab to Afrasiab or (more correctly) Afrasiyab. That with "o" reminds of Tajik pronunciation which is Afrosiyob.

On the name Samarkand: it is Samarqand in both Persian and Uzbek, as well as Sogdian. Would be better to spawn it with a q.

Also, Patliputra... Why Patliputra? It is Pataliputra in Sanskrit, with a pronounced 'a'. Modern Hindi name is Patna.
British colonial name for Dhaka should be Dacca.

Yax Mutal should be renamed to Tikal upon European conquest, or maybe to Flores although it more correctly corresponds to Tayasal.

It wouldn't hurt to encourage Mongolia to sette Tuva and Ust-Orda, right now they only settle Ulan-Ude in Buryatia. Buryat (Mongolian) name for Irkutsk is Erkhüü (Эрхүү).

Generally increase Russian interest in southern Siberia, for I never see any Russian cities there, including large ones such as Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Chita... I don't even get to see Novosibirsk or Kemerovo, most of the time it is Anzhero-Sudzhensk. I would never know there exists a town as Anzhero-Sudzhensk if not for the RFC map.

I don't even get to see Novosibirsk or Kemerovo,

In this beta, I see them founding Barnaul a lot south where Novosibirsk would be.

As an addition to corovanrobber's suggestions: Do something to encourage the Russians more to want to conquer Mongolian cities as Balkhash and Ulaan-Ude if founded (most of the time) and maybe some more interest in Manchuria.

I meant that the Europeans are jealous of our economic prowess:p(at any rate it might just end up much backwards, as the U.S.A envying the Europeans for them not using 'deficiet spending').

But that's way off-topic anyway...

Personally the Arabian flip should wait until Islam is founded and arabia can convert. Yes I know that it was suggested before, and I don't think it would be possible(unless Mecca is pre-founded, Arabia starts at Riyadh, Mecca flips to Arabia[immediately], Mecca has Islam).

Maybe Balqash?

@Leoreth: So, is an isolationist policy, as the one followed by the Japanese until Meiji clever? I would not totally agree.
Sorry for my late answer, but I wouldn't either. Just look at China and where it got them: from the world's most advanced civilization to playball of European colonialism.

I wouldn't call Sweden isolationist, though.

Most European countries are practicing deficit spending much more intesely than the US. Anyway, there are many countries I admire for their achievements compared to my home country, but the USA are definitely not among them.

To talk in Civ-terms, your country (if you include Austria) has spawned a lot of Great Artists, Great Prophets, Great Scientists, etc. that changed the world and are world famous.

Let's just say that in the period '33-'45 it was taken over by Barbarians (in disguise), so don't let that cloud your judgement. ;)

Cue Family Guy: "We were all on vacation!!" :D

I was not talking about history, more about current politics and way of living. But now back on topic :)

Here's a suggestion. I like the idea that if you have gunpowder you get different units when you are the first to meet the mayans, aztecs or incans. My suggestion is that If you have engineering, but not gunpowder, you get trebuchets instead of catapults.

Add to that you only receive knights if you have horses, macemen (instead of knights) if you don't have horses and war elephants if you have no horses but have ivory.

Yeah good idea.

Also, maybe ALL the units you get when you meet the natives should be able to pass through jungle. Not just the native units.

And maybe the non-native units could take damage every turn when they're in the jungle.

No, that would be too much IMHO. The Spanish already have that with their Conquistadors, it would make their UU weaker in comparison.

Maybe remove 1 jungle at Chichen Itza to make it possible to conquer for all civs in 600 AD start.

Copied from 'Testers'-thread

In addition to more chance of wheat in Europe and more chance of rice in Asia, I suggest more chance of wine in Europe and more chance of silk in Asia in high and very high likeness.

I also suggest less chance of spices in temperate areas and less chance of sheep in tropical areas.

Other suggestions: Bigger France and sweden, here the size of some EU countries:
Germany:356 980 km²
Great britaign: 244 880 km²
Sweden: 450 000 km²!
France: 551 500 km²!

I know that in all case, auropa in RFC is not to the scale, to permiss to european civilization to be better in the game, but i think that adding 3 or 4 land spot to france and sweden would add realism, no?
