notes:
MM worker pump when worker produced (for food, used them to merge in core)
planned cities on east west coast: on rubble (fish), NE of rubble (river)
armies N to recover, guard salt (suggest to use next settler to secure; we have one salt online already)
left worker stack unmoved near sum landing, next turn enough units around (including the useless reg pike :()
got a lot of bombardment on east coast except the last turns
embassies? (90g in treasure)
one cat stack N, one on way to east coast (i think we should disband some of the cats & update some)
didn't want to keep high culture towns, others autorazed. pressed on due to variant rules (no waiting to kill off germans). it will take a while until we have ships there (didn't want to build regs)

950 AD (0)
We are still missing embassies with everyone. It won't matter with Sumeria but we need the other ones asap. I would like to get the others fighting against Sumeria and take the pressure off of us until we get the boats built. Mean time we can finish off the last German cities and our first Sumerian city on the island. To build the embassies, I turn research down for one turn to get the money.
(I) Summerian ships in the east.

960 AD (1)
Build an embassy in Athens. They are building a Musket and have research at 30%, 16spt. Istanbul is building Shakes and has research at 40%, 15spt. Seoul is building a market and has research at 40%, 14spt. We get an alliance with Korea for iron, they don't have saltpeter either so we need to get them some. The Ottomans get 20gpt for an alliance. When then pay Greece 16gpt and WM for an alliance, this ends the trade embargo with Sumeria. We then trade the Greeks Iron, Gems and WM for Navigation, 5g and 2gpt. I then turn science back up. I want to grab the iron dyes and horses with settlers and then worry about filling in the rest. I assume that some of the others will get some cities on our landmass. I kill the two Sumerian knights but it costs me 1 vet knight. Move some troops to shadow the Sumerian ships. I move to connect up the other slatpeter. I know it is a risk, but I want Korea to last and I want to get tech as well.
(I) Well the Sumerians have one friend, Germany declares on the Ottomans. We get an AC. We get a palace expansion.

970 AD (2)
Build a city to claim the iron and one of the dyes. The rest is worker movement. Swap Korea saltpeter and gems for Chemistry.
(I)Nada

980 AD (3)
I get to shell some Sumerian ships.
(I)More of nothing.

990 AD (4)
Found a city to grab the last dye.
(I) Greece and the Ottomans ally against Germany.

1000 AD (5)
Worker movement.
(I)Nada.

1010 AD (6)
Turn science down.
(I) We get Banking and start Metallurgy.

1020 AD (7)
More worker stuff.
(I) The Sumerians found a city on our landmass. They land 2 Cavs in the east.

1030 AD (8)
I kill a rifle and raze the Sumerian city along with several ships. I pound and then kill the two Cav.
(I) The Sumerians land a rifle, Cav and settler.

1040 AD (9)
Kill the rifle, Cav and snag the settler. Found a city to grab the last saltpeter.
(I) I missed the growth in Novgorod, so it riots.

1050 AD (10)
More movement.

We are building a lot of banks.
I have two caravels headed to the northwest so we can ferry some troops over.

Microbe (On Deck)
RomeoTheMonk
Northern Pike

Meldor
ChrTh (Playing)

We have the complete hit list:
Portugal - Gone
Germany - 3CC
Aztecs - Gone
Sumeria - Hopefully wasting a lot of shields.
Korea
Ottoman
Greece

Everyone else had been taking their sweet time, I thought I would too :)

It looks like I won't be playing before tomorrow night, so if someone wants to jump in front of me, they can.

I've only played a couple turns so far, and they weren't that exciting (I'm sure you could do a better job than I could, anyway), so go ahead and grab it because I won't be finished until tomorrow night anyway. I'll take it after you.

(Note: F2V means "free to Veto") :D

Turn 0 -- 1050 AD

Hrm, looks like my turn may be uneventful ...

IT:

Sagres Temple -> Settler
Worker Pump Worker -> Worker :)

Nobody lands anything

Turn 1 -- 1060 AD
Kostroma built, set to Library(F2V)

IT:
Sumerians are bolting back to the homeland. Germans want to talk, I say NEIN!
Statue of Zeus produces an Ancient Cavalry! :)

Turn 2 -- 1070 AD
Nizhniy Novgorod built, set to Library(F2V)

IT:
Osman wants to veto our Lux deal ... I renegotiate. Hey, our forces outnumber the Ottomans, that's good!
Sumerians going a different way :?

Moscow Bank > Knight
Worker Pump keeps on Pumpin'

Turn 3 -- 1080 AD

IT:
Sagres Settler > Bank

Turn 4 -- 1090 AD
Suzdal' built, Library (F2V)

IT:
Krasnoyarsk University > Temple (so we can fire the taxman)
Greeks and Koreans are building Shakespeare's Theater
Worker Pump etc

Turn 5 -- 1100 AD

IT:
We get Metallurgy. While trying to trade with Alexander, I learn that we've lost trading ports with Korea and Alex won't accept anything in a per-turn (from us) for tech deal :wallbash:
I am able to get Econ + 10gpt + 25g + WM from Alex for Metallurgy, but I really wanted to get Physics :grr:

Osman has Military Tradition, and neither the Koreans (if they survive) nor Greeks do. Since the Greeks just got Metallurgy from us, I don't think they can research MT before us, so I choose that. Due in 8.

No more Ancient Cavalry!

Moscow Knight > Knight

Turn 6 -- 1110 AD

IT:
Sumerians come offering peace, I say, um "No-o!"
IntheBlacktown Bank > Granary (F2V) so I can start popping Settlers off of it
Novgorod Bank > Temple (so I can fire a taxman)
Worker Pump etc

Sumerians complete Shakes ... THEY HAVE RAILROADS?!?!

Turn 7 -- 1120 AD
I land a small invasion fleet on New Germany.
Magnitogorsk is built, ditto library (F2V)

DAMMIT! The Greeks were able to trade for MT, and they're in the Industrial Age now. :wallbash:

Koreans are also in the IA, but they don't have MT.

IT:
NPGrad builds Settler > Library (F2V)
Farawayfromportugal Caravel > Temple
Orenburg Bank > Temple

Turn 8 -- 1130 AD
Assault on Hannover! Kill 2 Spears with no losses. I install a new governor so we can have a landing port.

IT:
Moscow Knight > Knight

Palace gets some Trees!

Turn 9 -- 1140 AD
Get ready for assault on New Munich
Kill a Longbowman (3-0)

IT:
The woefully misnamed-at-this-point Push the Front Market > Granary (F2V)
Worker Pump, which somehow lost a turn (looks like it's in 20 workers every 41 turns mode), gives me a worker again.

Palace gets a West Wing!

Turn 10 -- 1150 AD
New Munich is mine! (5-0 + Worker)

Ok, we're still taking care of the Germans. Korea is down to 3 cities (this may be the shortest list we've ever dealt with in a NOW game), we're down to 3 turns to get MT. Hopefully, we'll win and be able to get Physics from them.

There are some settlers heading north, and some in the pipeline. At this point we may as well keep the German cities as we take them, and then throw all of our troops at the Sumerians so that we can have the island.

Updated Hit List :D

Portugal - Gone
Germany - 2CC
Aztecs - Gone
Sumeria - Wiping out the Koreans for us
Korea - See Sumeria
Ottoman - Gracious ... for now
Greece - See Ottoman

Whoops, I am up. I should get this tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I have been feasting since my return from the Tundra. I got to see both trees in North Dakota on my trip, and it was only minus 5 F, with -30 wind chills. Not that bad for ND.

preturn: I raise sci to get MT in 2 turns.

Sumeria has 28842 culture..while no one has half of its culture.

Why are we building granary in size-12 city? Switch to knight.

1160AD: Seems our rep is shot. I renegotiate peace with Greece and buy Physics+Military Tradition with saltpeter+iron+dyes+14g.

Set research to ToG in 5 turns with -14gpt.

IBT Greece and Sumeria make peace.

1170AD: Buy ToG from Korea by Military Tradition. Set research to Magnetism in 5 turns.

I upgrade a cossack. I'm going to send it to the last German city for an GA.

Kill two units and capture New Heidelburg.

IBT Farawayfrom(dead)portugal riots. :(

1180AD: I buy furs from Greece with ivory+gems+4gpt.

1190AD: Greece lands a hoplite and warrior next to Saratov. I ask it to leave and it declares. I kill the hoplite but leave the warrior so our cossack could kill it next turn. :D

We lose 2 knights when killing a cav!

IBT we get some landing. The idiotic greek warrior attacks our AC and dies.

1200AD: one turn to Magnetism. IBT Sumeria destroys Korea.

MLDR5-1200AD.jpg

1210AD: Somehow we are still one turn to Magnetism? Hmm, right, the death of Korea changed the tech cost..

MLDR5-1210AD.jpg

1220AD: We enter Industrial Ages and draw Medicine as free tech.

Ottoman doesn't have medicine but has nationalism and steam. Medicine+all our gold isn't enough for Steam so I renegotiate peace, but then we could buy Steam with Medicine+381g. We have one source of coal connected, and Ottomans lack it.

Ottoman seems to have razed a Sumerian city. Sipahi's are powerful.

Set research to Industrialization in 7 turns. We need to build factories during our GA.

1230AD: Sell horses to Ottoman for 15gpt.

Note: Cathedrals/Colloseums/Palace are all prebuild for factories. Industrialization due in 4. Then we should beeline to RP.

Ottoman is losing. It has lost its horse town. :( Unfortunately we still have a lot to build. The good news is that Sumeria isn't very far ahead. It's only up Industrialization and Nationalism.

I didn't pay attention to MM for the last turn. For example, Worker Pump could get a lot more food while still completing Market in 3 turns. Also, we should keep it on 2-turn worker factory for a while as we need a lot more workers to railroad.
