I played Guild Wars for a while but it wasnt as fun as having a social life so I stopped.

I answered "World of Warcraft" and "None," since I stopped playing World of Warcraft after a few months, years ago. It was a lot of fun, but I didn't have time.

I go through binges of Lord of the Rings Online from time to time. Currently not playing it, but it's the only one of the genre that's ever really hooked me. Tried Guild Wars and World of Warcraft, but they never really stuck.

Certainly they're nowhere near as addictive to me as, say, Football Manager and other turn-based games.

Gangster Mind, Torn City and Urban Dead are those i'm currently playing though once i've played much more MMOGs at the same time

:goodjob: Urban Dead was good fun when it started. Lost it's appeal after a while for me as the group I was in slowly died out.

Currently I don't play any MMOs of any type. I played WoW for a few months when it came out but I stoped because it just became way to repetetive(sp?).I also played EVE and Ultima Online. While both games are definitely much better than WoW both in there own way it's still easy to lose alot more time than you planed on them.

It's about as much an "RPG" as other MMRPGs. I conveniently don't consider any MMORPGs as real RPG games. ;)
Yeah most games that claim to be RPGs are just Hack'n'slash with a character building aspect.

None. All of them look boring and uninspired. It seems as if ambition doesn't play a role in the game. I mean, I don't want to be a clan leader, I want to be a great general in command of numerous human and NPCs or a wealthy merchant who has influence throughout the entire game.

However, Warhammer 40K Online sounds promising. Hopefully, you can choose commissar as a class, eh?
Didn't know that a MMO W40k was in the making I only knew about the fantasy one. Though I assume it won't be possible to play Tyranids. :(

Currently, none.

At some point I decided to try one, and because a friend was playing it, that was Vanguard.
I decided to really invest time into it since I felt it was the best way to play a MMORPG, so for 6 months straight I played nothing but that.
Vanguard was buggy from the start since it was released way too early, but that never bothered me too much.

During my sting here's what I found out:
- it's actually hard to find a nice group. Your friends (including guild) will not be always online when you are, and will not be always doing the same quests than you. It's hard to schedule play sessions also, you have to do that outside of the game, which is silly. There should be tools in the game to allow you to show your friends when you'll be playing and what you'll be doing. Pick-up groups, more often than not, suck, because cursing teenagers is not my thing. On the whole, the entire interaction thing was disappointing, but that's not proper to MMORPG, I find that on-line gaming interactions, in general, suck. LAN interactions are much better.
- The quests were incredibly repetitive: either kill stuff, or deliver stuff. I dunno if it's the same for other MMORPGS, though. The good thing with VG was that you had crafting and diplomacy, two other areas of progression, but these were even more repetitive than fights. Also, VG was a pretty game and the environment was nice. It was actually quite fun getting my toon up to 50, I saw a lot of different places.
- Overoptimization sucks. What that means is that there is one best piece for every slot in your guy, period. And I'm not sure I like to rely on parsers. And as such everybody is pretty much dressed up the same. It would be funnier, IMHO, instead of having "Damage 15-23", to put "Damage: good". That would allow for more varieties in outfits.

So in the end I quit. It was a very interesting time and I'm glad I did it, but it seems that in order for me to truly enjoy a MMORPG, I would need a group of close RL friends with the same schedule.
