[MOD] Civ3 Evolution - Atlantean Chronicles

Yes you are correct :)
Well the Akkadians and Sumerians were civs that were wiped out by others, if they werent they might have kept their name. The way I see it Xia is the first Chinese dynasty, doesnt represent the people that continued to evolve after they were replaced by another dynasty of the same people. The Koreans for instance, I changed their name to Joseon beucase its their ancient name. I picked Zhongguo for the Chinese because it seems to be a good ancient name to represent the ancient Chinese. I will however be adding the Yue to the oriental list of civs, to represent the Yue people the same way the Celts represent the celtic people as a whole since I have no room for both Gauls and Britons for instances.

MAN THAT ROCKS!!
Sorry for the caps, I couldnt contain myself ;)

Is it easy to change the backgrounds if I give some sugestions?

Ok thats great! Im going to look into it, see what I find.
The modern one is cool! Is that Atlantis from the tv series? :)
what about the industrial one, whats that? :)

Just a wild thought (totally wild thought :p ) here - since you're including Atlantis, it might be interesting to throw in Yonaguni. :D You could use Ryukyuan/Okinawan names for the city and leader lists. There's no definitive evidence that it's really a 10000-year-old submerged city in the Ryukyu Islands, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless. ;)

Yes im aware of the findings near the Japanese coast, its not pratical to make an Atlantean colony there because its too far from the Caribean, unless I made another ancient developed civ in the Japanese area that could have built it, probably replacing the Japanese Wa civ with them. Should be interesting having a "hypothetical" civ in Japan that rivals the Chinese, one that was destroyed in our history, but not in this scenario's alternate history. Would need some interesting units for the ancient age, and keep the samurai units in the medieval. And could use one of Shiro's japanese LHs he's working on for the Korean Samguk scenario, or something new if he has any good ideas ;)

The BEST theory I've heard about Yunaguni was that indeed it was man-made... but not a structure but a quarry.

Not really "Japanese," but Ryukyuan, which is quite different from Japanese. The best suggestion I've heard is that it's "mostly" natural with possible human usage and a possible inspiration for the wierd tombs near Yonaguni's islands as well as the Okinawan gusuku castles, which are unique to Ryukyuan culture. Comparing Yonaguni island's coast to the "monument," it seems more plausible that it's just a very wierd undersea formation.

There are also several other Asian "Atlantises" from Chinese folklore and histories of an ancient advanced civilization. And there's also a hypothesis of an advanced Korean civilization pre-dating Dan'gun based on the Hwandan Gogi, a historical text (though its factuality is disputed). Just about every major culture has its own particular "Atlantis."

I wouldn't doubt it... there was much flooding after the last Great Ice Age. Populations are normally concentrated near coasts. Any catastrophic global coastal flooding would lower the world wide tech level quite a bit by destroying any Antedeluvian infrastructure that 'might' have been.

Forget regular eyes, lets just have them on the shield.

:)bounce:)

You're quite right Wyrmshadow!

Whoa Shiro!! That unit Atlantean inspired? Sure looks like it! Really cool! I have a few comments, if you're going to a classical period look, which I suppose its the case because of the sword and shield, then I ask to make the armor bronze colored, or even redish since the Atlanteans were supposed to have a rare redish metal. In case its post classical period, then I guess the armor is legionare style plate, scale is also an option.

Some new information about my mod in case you want to do more stuff for it ;): It doesnt have a medieval age, it has an Ancient Age that goes up to the classical period with the top units wearing bronze armors, units like the Greek Hoplite (Sandris) and the Roman (Hesperian) Early Triarii (Sandris), then the Iron Age starts, going up to the industrial revolution, so Gunpowder is roughly in the middle. Iron based armors are developed in the Iron Age, I have a tech for Scale Armor and another for Plate Armor for instances. The Atlanteans will be in the ancient age in the beggining, but they will be much closer to the iron age than the other civs, need to figure out a way for them to slow down once they reach it so other civs can catch up a bit.

Oh no, I liked the other sword better :) And could you make it a regular spear instead of a trident? I have to warn you though, an ancient spearman, even an armored one, is not really needed, what I could use is a spearman in the same style as the swordsman, and make them look more medieval-looking with the redish armor I mentioned
