[MOD] Composite Mod by Exavier

Hi exavier, how about Finnish civ? It can be found in the new civs section of downloads.

The missle silo is just XML... basicly i just added the new building to the requirement of the missles :P

@Mikkeman - I can take a look at it :)

@[to_xp]Gekko - lol technicly if I pulled out everything i stole from other mods my mod would be nothing more than a collection of unit changes (well and a new tech tree for the version in beta)... Its not that i wouldn't make most of the changes myself its just that it would have taken me an impossible amount of time to do so :)
 
Hey Exavier...you should consider addin the military base mode by thelopez....i have been thinking the game needs something like this, specific types of basses to increase specific types of units, it would be a real nice addition.

:eek: I just found out something really ugly about my mod, the AI DOES know how to use it.
 
@GeneralMikeIII - because I designed my mod to be MP compatable and as a stand alone mod it does make it uncompatable with most CustomAssets mods. I would honestly recomment emptying the CustomAssets folder before running my mod as you will get python errors if it trys to load the same files twice.

What are you using in CustomAssets anyway? maybe its something i might think about adding.

Thats probably why... I haven't exactly finished all the text conversions to other languages... English is the only one its 100% compatable with atm... trying to fix this for the next update.

Thanks, i'm playing in english right now and i can finally see my score at the screen. If you fix it in the next patch, ill be very happy, if not, it's ok, i can still play in english.

Very good mod BTW, very addictive ! :lol:

It's just a graphics thing that makes it so you have 5 people show up per unit instead of three. It's not a big deal, I just liked it better with 5. Seemed to better represent the idea that a unit is a whole bunch of people instead of just a couple. I downloaded it from a thread in the "Graphics Modpacks" portion of this site. It was titled, 5 somethingorother, I forgot, but it had 5 and something to do with units right in the title. Can't remember who did it either.

The only other thing was I noticed that Zuul has been putting out new versions of his promotion and traits mod pretty quick, and should he ever come out with one before you could update yours, I wanted to be able to add it in right away. It isn't any real big problem, though, I was just wondering if there was an easy way to add in other mods you don't have (emphesis on the "easy" because I am still quite new to all this modding stuff and I'm not too good at it yet :confused: :crazyeye:).
 
@ibcoltscrew - hehe I am working on fixing it... one of a few things holding up the next update... 5 XML Text documents translated... 6 more to go... AHHH!!!

@GeneralMikeIII - Ahh hehe yea I usually have the Single Graphic checked... But my PC is slow on the graphics card end... *cough*32MB*cough*. Was thinking of converting Blue Marble Terrain into an addon though... its the extra 30mb of raw images it would add that worries me.

As for the promotion & traits mod I think i am going to wait on adding his new version (unless he finishes his reconfiguration before my next release) as he has hit an impass... any more than 97 Promotions total in the game and it crashes CTD style...

Yeah, mine is slow too, I think it is 32MB and more importantly no T&L, but I play with low graphics and that allows me to check a few more boxes on the right-hand side. It's still a little laggy but I've gotten used to it.

Anyway, back on topic, so there isn't anyway to add things by just pressing an easy button (maybe you need to talk to Office Max:lol:)? Alright, I guess I will have to make the changes myself... most people make it pretty clear what they change when they release a mod.

I just hope my computer has enough room to hold all the back-up copies I need to make...:eek: :nuke:
 
@GeneralMikeIII - lol well from what Zuul had mentioned he decided to rewrite ALL promotions and reduce the count, merge a few, and remove some unneeded ones... I am waiting for him to do this is all... saves me having to update the mod yet again just to fix it later.
 
Ok let me say that I have been playing Civ4 for a while now and while i generally like it it's getting boring. So, I read the first page on this MOD and it's looks amazing - like it would be a new game almost... love almost all of the improvements outlined and can't wait to try it... but just one ? if and when i want to go back to the original plain 1.52 Civ4 can i do that and how? Much thanks.
 
Installed and love it - it's like getting a new game but ? #1 what is the difference between ICBM and Tactical ICBM?
 
Sorry for all the ?s but can you also explain the new tech tree it's weirding me out - does this mean it's going to take longer to research all the techs in the game... why would i spend a whole tech just to get u boats and why are there two flights etc.
 
One of the nukes will nuke one tile, and the other also nuke the tiles surrounding it.

Yes the new tech tree will take longer to research. But it will not be es empty as the image. He will add a lot of new stuff, especially WW2 and a but futuristic things. I think he will make them a bit cheaper to research them so the game wont end in 2500.
 
@apdavis828 - because the way the mod installs and runs you can actually play the vanilla game by just not going in and loading the mod.

Zuul got it right on the nukes. The Tactical ICBM only hits a single target and is cheaper to mass produce. This was done for 2 reasons... Overcome SDI later on (cheeper missles means more of them to throw at it), and for tactical use you can blast an enemy stack/city while your own tanks are parked in the tile next door. I did this cause of the normal ICBMs limit of not being able to launch in your territory or aginsty our units (I sure hope i can fix that with the SDK when it is released). The normal ICBM is nothing but a Spite weapon now... costs a lot but can hit everything in the fat cross area of a city :P

The new tech tree I am adding is to give more depth to the end game. I am a perticular fan of modern warfare (Yes I love to nuke things). The vanilla game completely lacked this as you could blow through the research in no time flat and get about 5 units out of it. So I have expanded it to allow me to add a larger naval evolution as well as spreading some things out to get a more satisfying world war to modern era battle... also should map starting a game in industrial/modern more interesting. I am working on the cost part of it still as right now it takes about 900 turns to research the entire tree on Normal, Noble game :P

@Everyone - Just so everyone is aware I may be delayed on the next update... My laptop (only working PC at the moment) is giving me issues. Its not keeping the battery changed like it should which gives me about a 1.5hr window to work on anything before i have to shut it down, cool it off, and let it charge again... Looks like its time for me to call Toshiba... AGAIN! :mad:
