[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Some parts of your post are hard for me to understand.
a) If there is know issue is all I am asking since I would not expect you to solve any operating system or hardware issues will all the possible available combinations, much less drivers and routers.

b) I noticed both games have that screen but they have the tool tip. Since they used your code for the basis of their mod I'm sure they would be happy to.

Perhaps you were saying:
a) If this is an issue or not is all I'm asking.

b) I noticed both games have that screen but not the tooltip.

Just trying to help.:mischief:

i noticed the hut-issue webrider mentioned too.

of course it could be a feature, as i played a bit with the world editor , then got just maps. (hey, first time emporer, just making it a bit easier for starters...) then again could just be bad luck...

Kudos to Kael & folks for making this sweet mod! :king:

You have done superb job with FFH2, this is easily something I'd pay good money for. I appreciate you all the more for you doing this free of charge. There's a lot of interesting content here and I'm sure more is on its way!

Well done!

Having said that I did come up with some ideas while I was playing the other day. I'm still relatively new to the forum and am unaware if this has been discussed already, though.

I was thinking about the way AI players use their heroes. During a few games I've got the feel that AI is a bit reckless with its heroes in the sense that they don't seem to last for too long. In comparison I always try to be careful with my heroes, so they can gain XP and become more powerful later on. I don't camp with them, I do try to do battle with them and XP more quickly that way. They're very useful early in the game, after having gained a few levels, when other civs and barbs haven't got more advanced units yet.

When I send them to do combat, I always send plenty of other units to protect them, if the situation allows for it. I don't want to leave my hero exposed and vulnerable among my enemies - losing one is very annoying to me. In this respect I think the AI doesn't do very well. Usually in games I tend to get messages that this or that hero has been killed, not too long after they've been created in the first place. Also, in my encounters I tend to meet enemy heroes that are accompanied by only a few friends, some times just one or two even.

In this respect I think the human player has an advantage over the AI - atleast in my few games the AI's heroes are shortlived while I try to protect them. This issue alters the balance slightly in the player's favour IMO, which I don't think is a good thing.

Occasionally I've almost felt guilty while my level 15 hero slaughters AI's hopeless level 3 dudes defending some city I've had my eye on. :D

Do others see this as an issue, and is there any way to improve AI heroes' behaviour? Or is AI on your to-do list at all at the moment?

Anyways, cheers for the great mod! :goodjob:

Hi, there still seems to be the problem with golems moving when they cast a fireball even if fortified in a city

there also seems to be a bug with invisibility. i've encountered that whenever an invisible unit is revealed, whether by attacking or entering Dies Diei controlled lands, etc. it gets bumped to a different tile.

Seems like there is a general moving of units with abilities happening, I also noticed it when a unit was joined by a commander

That should only happen if the unit was on the same tile as a unit with whom it normally couldn't share a tile (i.e., and enemy). That was done on purpose in order to prevent a CtD.

playing multiplayer 2 players 6 AI large map, the game is bulletproof "no crashes" until around turns 250 plus then it is plagued by crashes every hour or two. Any suggestions?

If one of you play using vista and the other plays using xp that happens alot I've noticed from earlier multiplayer games with my friends...

As it's happened to me when my troops have been in my city, or when my stack of troops were all in a a single stack and only the hero who joined with the commander jumped to the next tile, I don't think that's what happening

Hey,I am a huge fan of this mod and have been playing for years now. I was just curious about when or if there are any plans to add any new unit artwork to the good civilizations? The artwork for the neutral and evil civilizations is pretty sick and has great detail. For example, the artwork for Corlindale who is the hero forthe Elohim, perhaps my favorite of all good civs appears to be the art for an islamic missionary from BTS...I must admit I am not very experienced or knowledgeable in the are of game art and thus do not know what format to submit any suggestions I may have for artwork. And also, are there any plans to come out with a version 041? I see that patch y is out leaving one alphabet left. Please let me know, til then I shall keep civin' it up. Also, I do not even bother to play BTS and have not for quite some time now. The entire civ experience has become Fall From Heaven...

We are working on it. Creating units of this caliber is a time consuming process, and there are only a few people who are capable of it (aka: not me). The next patch will include incredible new models for the Mercurian Herald and Mercurian Repentant Angel units.

I would suggest heading to the civ4 creation and customization forum, and then into the tutorials and references subforum (its called something like that).

I also noticed an issue that seems odd to me. Playing multiplayer 2 player the other guy is the host, the first time I connect to the game and we start, after transfering data mine crashes to desk top, he has to save the game and I can restart and everything is fine. Even if one of us dies early and we restart a new game everything is fine no crashes. This has happend at least 10 plus times in a row so it is routine. He has never been able to connect to me, I'm sure that is some kind of fire wall or routher issue not to be solved here. So I always connect to him and have that darn first crash.

Turn 450 no crashes at all except the one I mentioned on starting a couple posts up but since that is not really into the game yet since it happens before the first move it reallydoesnt count. I am playing on Vista 32 my friend is playing on Vista 64. He says it takes him 3 trys to start the game but after that it is stable. He figures that is a VIsta 64 thing.

I have a couple of questions. I can't find inflation concept anywhere, how to lower it etc.

Same for blight, noticed my cities were blight ridden and could not find description of blight anywere. I'm sure its in front of my face somewhere.

Is there an updated manual?

Are you going to add any air units? Dragon riders, eagle riders, griffon riders, dwarf contraptions?

I suppose not: then you would need graphics, promotions, spells, anti air values. That would be a mod by itself.

There were a couple of events that seem to have issues cant remember them off hand.

Do events recycle some of the earlier events require a religing that could no way have been started by the time of the event. If they reappear later in the game that would be cool. I haven't seen that happen though. The throw the guy to WeerWolf has happend twice.

I read a good article on 32 bit games on a 64 bit environment, and memory. ON a 32 bit system all you need is 2GB of ram and 1GB video for a total of just over 3GB which is about all that is addressable. Works the same on 64 bit system if the game is a 32 bit game. You cant get a little more, very little if you have 4 GB ram, but video memory, sound card memory, ram are considered total memory. All card memory is counted befor system memory. System memory makes up the difference, the difference to addresssable memory limitations of the 32 bit system.

Does make me wonder if there is a race that may cause crashes in the game, since we have had crashes in the past. This game we are playing now is running great. Come to think of it we have not even had an out of sync or single crash on this game. We have been playing every weekend for the past 4 or 5 weekends.

Keep up the good work on this mod can't say enough good things about it. I love the black mirror. More items like that please :)

Is there a list of spells by manna type?

Inflation hasn't been changed since BtS, except I think the overall rate was lowered. Civ IV inflation is just based on how long the game has lasted. There is an event or two that can change inflation, but nothing else you can do about it.

Blight deals death damage to all livings units, and causes temporary unhealthiness in all cities of non-Fallow trait leaders. The amount depends on the amount of unhealthiness the city already has.

I never really use a manual, but I presume Xienwolf's Manual is probably the best you'll find.

I don't think any more units will be added in the main mod at all. I think Griffon Riders and Dwarven Zeppelins already exist in a modmod, or at least have been considerably discussed. The Kuriotates already have flying ships. I don't recall Eagle riders ever being really considered. There are already modmods that add more birds with attack and/or bomber abilities though. Dragon riders wouldn't fit well in the FfH lore. Dragons have always been very rare, and most of them are long dead. They are the weapons of mass destruction in the arsenals of the gods, not naturally occurring animals. I don't believe they have the capacity to reproduce, and none have been created since early in the Godswar. Dragons are extremely intelligent and arrogant, much like archangels. A dragon would never permit a mere mortal to ride him.

What you are saying about events is a bit unclear. I presume you are talking about the constellation events? If so, yes, they recur quite frequently. The fact that more events become possible later means they aren't quite so common though, and the fact that more is going on later and the turns are longer means they could occur at the same intervals and seem much rarer.

I think there is such a spell list in Xienwolf's manual.

Thanks for the quick info. What is where is modmods?
