[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

OK, guys, since I'm not a mod expert or anything, can I ask you something?

Alright, so i'm playing as the Bannor, and I'm on an island completely isolated from everybody else. Still, I keep getting pounded by barbarian hordes that come relentlessly from the desert on the eastern side of the island. I checked numerous times, and I saw very few barbs, yet when I check again, they're at the gates, pounding away at my defenders. So my question is: where are all these guys coming from???

guys can u tell me what i need to do to make the good end for this game??? the bad end is when u becoem allies of infernal right n u take the world in armageddon , but the good end waht is it ?? what i must to do??

I guess most of say 'when I win it is a good result' and 'when I lose it is a bad result'. From a good/evil standpoint, I agree that letting Hyborem unchecked is pretty bad. The good guy equivalent is probobly winning a victory with a good civ (or maybe even a neutral Civ.) Note that evil civs can also win without the Infernals.

Best wishes,

Breunor

[Barbarians] where are all these guys coming from???

Hi, it is a 'feature' of Civ4, that barbarians spawn at locations within the fog of war. Even if you have 'seen' the tile last round and you are not seeing it this round, there can be barbarians. FFH2 only rises the barbarian thread level. Counter strategy is placing cheap units on top of mountains to remove the fog of war.

Additional there are specific 'object' on tiles where barbarian units spawn every (about) 20 turns. If you explore this, you can distroy these (and stop units from spawning any more).
goblin fortresses -> goblin units
big sculls -> lizardmen
...

Hope this helps:

He logged on last night. Probably just busy with a lot on his plate.

Okey I thought they were coming from a gap in the mountains in the east. I put a merc there and It seemed to do the trick, or at least lowered the threat. Heck, maybe it's just a coincidence.

I am not sure if this has been adressed already (450+ pages kinda discourages thorough read through).

in some of the latter versions of the game, they were able to choose whether it should be a city or a settlement when you built new settlements, the same went for the ones you conquered iirc. But I haven't been able to do that in the new version. Is that intentional? I find it really ruins your options as kuriotates if you can't delay the transformation from settlement to city.

Are you saing you can't do this after you conquer a city, or after you build a city? Because a quick test as the Kuriotates revealed that I can, in fact, choose City or Settlement when I build a second city. Are you playing on a Duel map? I know that the number of cities you can build decreases as the map size decreases, and on a Duel map you may only be able to build one city.

I can't after I conquer, and I can't after I build.

I am playing a multiplayer co-op game on a standard size map

Hey, so uh I figured I'd try and start up Civ IV again and for once actually play fall from heaven 2. However, I can only seem to find FFH2's most recent version on modDB, and whenever I try that download link it gives me a message of:

The file you have selected (FallfromHeaven2.1.exe) is not available via any mirrors. Please check back shortly as our servers update every 5 minutes.

I've been trying the link for the past few hours so I dont think modDB has the file. =\ Are there any non-ModDB mirrors around for this mod?

Thanks.

Are you getting there by the link in the first post of this topic, which should take you to a CFC download database page, then from there to ModDB?

I tried it and it appears fine. It should have been updated very recently (in 2009).

I uploaded the file to rapidshare, see here (click me)

@TC01, yes that's the link I followed. It appears to be working now (it links me to filefront; the page is a little slow but I blame my internet on that one) though, so it mustve been just the luck of these inter-tubes, heh.

@Opferlam: gives me a 'file cannot be found' on those rapidshare links, but either way the modDB link seems to be back up and running. Thanks anyway!

Okay, we have a situation. (Apologies if this has been mentioned.) Above the main download link, it says users need 3.19 to play it (I indeed have 3.19), and so I downloaded that, but when it came time to install it, I get a message that says the mod requires Patch 3.17. What gives here?

The reference to 3.17 is a mistake, it obviously hasn't been updated. The mod (with the latest patch!) is compatible with 3.19 now, and that's what you need.

You have to download the latest patch and apply it before the game will work with 3.19.

The main installer hasn't been updated yet.
