[MOD] Fall from Heaven

first for the issue - when I play the mod I can not modify my civics. There is no revolution button - so all I can do is when i discover the related technology adapt it immediately. Anyone else had this issue?

now for a question about "the avatar of wrath". What triggers it and why does my computer keep crashing everytime it occurrs. The first time it happen I didn't have any problems, but the second time it was basically game over because the program kept crashing.

Finally, i would just like to say I love the mod and am looking forward to the next version (you got any kind of timeframe on that?)

It helps to play as a Financial leader. Build Markets, make citizens into Merchants as necessary, build cottages early and make sure you get Trading and Currency as soon as possible - you can make loads of money trading.

Using all these tricks I'm currently well on the way to winning by Domination on Emperor difficulty on a Large map, playing the Aggressive and Financial Dark Elf (Haarbals Civ) - and I'm one of the tech leaders, too... :D

With my 30% winning I get that with Financial and Creative normally. The problem is I like random play and don't always get financial. :)

One thing I changed a while ago about the financial trait before FfH came out was a bonus of 1 gold on tiles with 3, not 2. That helped a bit in neutering the large bonuses Financial civs get.

Do you have Firaxis 1.52?

For the first, you need Civ to be patch to 1.52 (there is an updater in the advanced options on the main menu). If you are using Haarbal's civ's you will need his updated version for FFH 0.70.

The Wrath is broken in 0.70 and can cause CTD's. There is a one off patch a few pages back that fixes it, it is a single file. It will be fixed in 0.80.

And I'm scheduled to release 0.80 on Friday the 13th of this month.

you can use haarbal's mod without restarting your game. i applied it and had no problems yet anyway.
i do believe the dark elf faction picture is wrong though,it should be the female dark elf picture, not the dwarfish looking elf.

Hello Again - A few pages back, some dude gave a really good idea about a quest.

Hey Kael, how about some dragons? I know its old fahsined, but DRAGONS are really cool to play with. You know, you could after slaying a dragon get a DROGON ARMOR.

I also think that the ideia of adding atmosphere ito the game is good. I have played a couple of times now, and atmosphere is really missing. Fantasy is only fantasy, when you can FANTASISE it. Sorry about my english, Im from Brazil...

Dragons would be awesome, but making them right now is nigh on impossible given the limitations of actually modding units. Once the first is made there will be a slew of them skinned I'm sure....

But yes, you can still have quests if you use a very vivid imagination.

Whats that about moding units? I thought it could be done? I mean you dont have to make it bigger than the usual unit, just make a a couple of long chineser dragons.

Any away I hope they come in soon.

Im wondering about a WOOD ELF quest. Trying to find a lost KING, that would be equivalent as a great person. And when you join it to a city where there is a elven village, you get lots of goodies.

Another Idea that I have is that we should have different terrain improvments. Kael you should think about different kinds of farms. Like A mushroom farm, all units produce in a city with a shrooms farm in it, would get a especial promotion.

It is not possible to mod units yet so I can't make anything like dragons, sea monsters or any of the other stuff I would love to have in the mod. Hopefully it will be possible soon.

Quests are in the design doc for phase 2. I really liked Loki's idea too, and If I know Loki he will come up with plenty more in the coming weeks.

The 1 terrain improvement I am trying to fit into phase 1 (dont know if it will be possible or not) is an Ancient Forest idea that woodelf provided. It would be an "improved forest" they gave special benifit to Fellowship civs. If that goes well we will see about others.

And thanks to everyone for the feedback on the barrage ability of mage types. Im going to follow the suggestions given here and remove barrage and withdrawal from all the mage units. I will give the fireballs and meteors a barrage ability, and see about giving a low level spell to the adepts (according to the design doc they get Haste, a spell that increases the movement rate of everyone in their tile by 1 for a turn).

I definitely want to participate in this mod so here I come with more Ideas:

First of all I think that a releasing a prisoner or finding a lost king type of quest is a very balanced Idea. The elements of the quest do not have to be civ specific, and they don’t need an absurd amount of power. A barbarian tribe could be known as the tribe that imprisoned a powerful unit, or a great person. Whoever find this tribe first may fight for the GREAT KING freedom.

Another idea that I have is to steal the Idea from Master of Orion 2. Remember that when you found the Orion star you could fight its guardian for a resource full planet and a couple of techs? Well lets do that in there! A city called, lets say, Atlantis is guarded by a bunch of powerful monsters. When you free it from the beasts, you end up capturing the city, that city in particular should have unique buildings. Perhaps we can go all the way and make a Atlantis specific technology, nothing to powerful like the black hole weapon in MOO2. I’m think that it could reveal a specific resource, like MAGIC DIMONDS(I know I suck at naming stuff). And then who ever capture that city will be able to use those resources.

Well Kael I downloaded and played your mod last night, and I stayed up for 5 hours playing it!

I love what you've done with the Civ 4 Intro screen, and I love even more the music that plays (instead of Baba Yetu). It's perfect!

However, in-game I experienced some problems. After I discovered the technology that should allow me the Arete civic, I was not able to select it and have a revolution! (If I put the mouse over it the icon would appear to tell me what effects that civic provides, but if I wanted to select it it was not possible and would act as if I still hadn't discovered the civic!) I had the same problem with the "Sacrifice the Weak" civic. Strangely, Protect the Meek became available when it was supposed to. So I ended up having holes in my civics screen of civics that should have been available, but weren't.

I also did notice a few missing entries with their description as "TXT_KEY_xxxxx" that didn't look too nice.

Why do you have a tech in the tech tree named "never gonna happen?" That was interesting.

Also, perhaps because I didn't have a good start and didn't play well, but it seemed like there were way too many technologies! Even many turns after the game ended (I kept playing) I still had about 10 or so technologies to research, and that's with 2 of the other players regularly gifting me techs (Asoka and Anon, with an occasional Roosevelt).

Which leads me to my next point. I played with haarbal's civs, and they were good, but I recommended he take out the original civs to keep the fantasy feel of the game. I hope that when you release your civs in the next phase (or maybe borrow some, or all, of his) you keep out the original civs that ruin the feel of the mod!

All that being said, this was an excellent mod that I enjoyed playing. Keep up the great work, and if you need some help, don't hesitate to ask me!

I think it is because those particular civics have religion restrictions. You have to have The Runes of Kilmorph as State Religion for Arete, and Ashen Veil for Sacrifice the Weak.

Corlindale is exactly right. You have to be Runes of Kilmorph to use Arete, the Ashen Veil to you Sacrifice the weak, the Order to use Social Order, Octopus Overlords to use Slavery and Fellowship of Leaves to use Guardian of Nature.

Why do you have a tech in the tech tree named "never gonna happen?" That was interesting.

Yeah, I needed to include a disabled tech so I could tie some things to techs but I never actually wanted the players to be able to normally get them. So I created a Tech called Never and disabled it (which is why it was red). I wish they wouldn't display it but I dont have much choice about that.

The 0.80 game will allow you more turns before the timer runs out. It wasn't intentionally so short, I cut it to make it compatible with 1.52 (they put out a new game speed that messed up some of my stuff). Its all back and working as intended in 0.80. That said the techs could still use some cleanup. Im going through now and either adding functions to techs or removing them if they don't do anything.

Which leads me to my next point. I played with haarbal's civs, and they were good, but I recommended he take out the original civs to keep the fantasy feel of the game. There is so much I want to do with the civ's, and so much time that it will take that I pushed new Civ's until phase 2. Knowing that Haarbal stepped up to the plate and made his excellent mod. I will definitly be incorporating all or some of Haarbals ideas (if not just sharing some design info with Haarbal and having him do the final civs entirely) for the final civs.

Until that is done, I would like to leave the old civs in. I run a lot of AI tuning and balance work against the current leaders, trying to get everything working. I love that Haarbal has made stuff to add to the mod, but I wouldn't want him erasing any of my work, even if it is stuff that doesn't match the mods flavor.

So, I will definitly want to be where you want to be, but it won't be in 0.80. You aren't the only one who wants it, I think that was probably the biggest request for FFH so it will probably be the first thing I start on afrter I close phase 1. Hopefully it won't take to long.

Good news, bad date. Baaad karma:p

Sounds like an excellent reason to have adepts, but there is only one problem: if I stack ten adepts in a tile and hit "haste" for every one, will the bonus be cumulative? Sounds like a sweet tactic, but I think it might upset the balance. A lot. So you'd have to make it non-cumulative in some way, I think.

I also agree as regards the tech tree. It IS a bit long. Is one meant to be unable to get all the techs (to force prioritising), or is it simply too many ideas and not enough game-time?

I give you Meshabber of Dis...

Entropy Avatar Unit, spawned by the creation of the Doom Inexorable wonder (Armageddon spell, Requires Armageddon and Infernal Pact techs).

Enjoys moonlit strolls on the beach and roasting marshmellows on the pyres of Order corpses. His Fire Aura damages all units in his tile and 1 tile away from him, friendly and enemy. And will more than likely draw you into war with any country whose units wanders to close to him (Meshabber is not fun for peaceful civs).

Now Meshabber is definitly a cool unit, but he needs a special skin to seperate him the lower lifeforms even more than his gigantic size and flames you can see from space already do. So I offer the Meshabber challenge. I have attached the skin for Meshabber (straight black with civ color bracers) the skin of a great engineer (which you can use for reference, its where I got the model from), and a picture of what Meshabber is supposed to look like. Whoever makes the best Meshabber gets to see his art in 0.80 and.... umm..... woodelf will give you a deep tissue massage (offer only valid in woodelf's home town and only if you are a hot female supermodel/3d artist/civ fanatic).

This mod looks great and I really wanna play it, but I am new to the Civ4 mods. I know how to install a mod with the .ini file but your mod just comes with all the files. How do I install it? I looked around the forum and through most of the 45 pages of posts here, but no kudos. Thanks for your help :)

Just copy everything in the compressed folder into the Mods directory.

And since I'd rather not run the risk of massaging myself (ugh, bad  ) I'll volunteer to help Kael judge and sit this one out.
