[MOD] Fall from Heaven

It not was my intention bother you. Just to tell you that in a new game after pacth 1 I have not crash in the game. Of course, I realized that you get CTD if try to load a previous game after intalling pacht 2. May be my understanding was due to the way you write your question. Sorry about that.

No problem, I just didn't want you to have to restart a game since the new patch doesn't fix anything, it just makes it so you cant play an existing game.

Arete is only available if your state religion is Runes of Kilmorph. Slavery is only avilable if your state religion is Octopus Overlords.

Don´t worry. In fact, I was´nt very happy with that game. Just continuing playing to see if could be a CTD. Pacth 2 was a good thing to start a new one.

Perhaps if you posted what was actually wrong in detail, someone might be able to comment. Just a suggestion.:)

...........Anyways.

I managed to win my second game that was started entirely after the second patch without a single hitch. :goodjob:

I actually like the new Apocalypse. (even if it isn't intentional. ;) ) I never research it, because at that stage of the game I'm the one it hurts the most, so when the AI researched the new cheap version, and all that happened was that I lost a few units, I was pretty happy. Especially since I was a few turns away from a cultural victory, and hate delays.

Perhaps Apoc should just cause everyone to declare war on everyone else and leave the population and unit destruction as a natural consequence of global war. It's hard to get a good war going when all your best units are gone and your production is shot to hell.

edit:I think Apoc causing all its damage at once is a bit anti-climatic. It shouldn't be "oh joy, the stupid AI just researched apoc again, and is going to be shortly wiped out". It should be..Yikes someone researched Apocalypse, and now I'm in for the fight of my life. It sounds a bit more exiting to me. It would make more sense for a war-like nation to research the second version as well, IMO. Instead of a top military power cripling itself while simulataneously causing everyone to be at war with it, it would instead cause chaos and confusion in which it could acheive global domination.

Okay, I figured out something interesting about this. I have a crash that I can reproduce. Always crashes at a particular turn. It exhibits all of the symptoms of index corruption. The game keeps lists of all the units, all the cities, etc, I think those lists are becoming corrupt.

Its all game engine stuff, I may be doing something wrong with how I add or remove objects.

So to test this I saved my game through the worldbuilder. This writes the game out as a scenerio, all units, cities, relations, etc are preserved. But the game is going to reload as if it was a new game. All of the objects and actions stay the same, but all of the indexes and internals are rebuilt.

It worked. No more crash.

Could some of you with crashes test this same thing. Just reload your game thats crashing, preferabbly right before the crash. Then go into the worldbuilder and you will see a save option in the worldbuilder menu. Then exit to the main menu, start a new game (it doesn't matter what the new game is), then once your in that game jump into the worldbuidler and reload your worldbuilder save.

Let me know what you find out.

Thanks,
Kael

I found out that the game immediately crashes if I try to load an unpatched game with the latest patch installed for me. The error said that the program was trying to "use runtime to close in an unusual way" and had to be terminated. I tried it twice, going to try it again. Second time I didn't get that odd message, but it crashed nontheless.

I tried again, from an even earlier save. It crashes about 1/5 of the way loading the save game (same point each time). I'll have to wait until a game that's been started in the patched version crashes, sorry.

Yeah, thats what I changed in version 2 of the patch, it won't even let you load pre-patch games.

Thats cool, if you get a crash be sure to try the worldbuilder save/load trick and let me know how it works out.

I'm sure you've got plenty of compliments, but I'd like to add mine. This mod is absolutley extraordinary. Fantastic work. I didn't know it was possible to mod a game so completely and flawlessly. Not only do you have heaps of brillaint ideas, but you have implimented them seemlessly into the game. Often a modder either has great ideas, or they are great at the technical stuff, but it appears you have both. Great job, and keep up the good work.

I believe the issue he is talking about is that the seafaring ability doesnt seem to work. I am noticing no variation in farms or fishing boats playing as a seafaring civilization.

Worked for me too, with a brand new crash. The only pain is it has cleared out research and production in all cities :)

Cool, good to hear. Everyone else let me know if this works for you too.

This may have been addressed and I didn't see it, if that's the case my apologies. Has anyone else had a city fall to zero population due to counquering it?

Is this intentional? if so how do you remedy it?
