[MOD] Fall from Heaven

But it would be more 'ritual sacrifice' that gives culture and happines in exchange for pop, this one...well... sacrifices the weak ;)
What happens when you bring golem to life with that phase 2 spell? Gives him ability to get promotions or?

Yes, he becomes a melee unit in every way, good and bad (leveling and promotions = good, disease and vulnerabiltiy to anti-melee attacks = bad).

Definitly vampires in phase 2. There won't be a "frankenstein" in phase 2 but there is a similar concept. There is a spell called "Create Flesh Golem". It allows you kill 2 units to make a new golem unit with all of the promotions of both of the units that were destroyed.

So if I would sacrife a mage and and an archer I could get a melee unit golem with first strike and the ability to cast spells?
And if I sacrifice a an Immortal will I get an immortal golem?

Thats the plan as it stands right now. Of course it may change in testing, especially when you talk about things like the Hero promotion.

I think there should be a Black Plague unit. Used only by barbarians. It goes and makes every unit that it defeats diseased corpses, and when it gets to a city it doesn't attack it, it cuts it's population in half. When this happenes you should make a sound come that says "Bring out your dead!"
Let me know what you think.

Oke i'm very newby for civ 4 and did have a look ad your mod. Like it very much but i'm not that new in 3d art and 2d art. That i do some 5 years now. If you might need some help from that point let me know. I already have exported models to a nif file that can be seen in the viewer. Just as a test. I do not know what you need for models and buildings and more for your mod and what kind of random files you need for it. Animated nif files i have done as wel as a test. Even that is visible in the viewer. Before this ( i play with civ 4 now 2 weeks) i have made models and charaters for other games and game engines. I work with 3ds max and photshop. Beisde that i'm a fantasy fan.

Let me know if you have question or need a helping hand.

Dont know if you have any plans for this, but you might want to think about maybe... like armageddon like spells that can be cast in the earlier game, but not by building them... they have large effects and are great but have certain rules and negatives that come with them... spells that a mortal would never have the power to cast.. but... well, here's the big question... Do you play as an angel or a king/leader? I think it would be a leader, and if that's the case, then couldn't you ask the assistance of an angel? I'm sure it would take quite a bit of sucking up... but it could be done. I'm thinking that if you do this, then in order to get the assistance of an angel, you would need to show them your worthiness with tribute. You could earn it with a disciple specialist (who also adds to GPP...) or by making religious sacrifices, or building monuments to the angels... all sorts of possibilities. I'm thinking that depending on your religion, you would do better with certain angels, and depending on our civ, as well as what things you've done in the game so far (like capture cities, sacrifice people, given shelter to a sick puppy). And the angel you "worship" would have different benifits, like global scales of the small spells. Perhaps water could be used for both good and evil. You could irrigate your crops, or lower the tides so coastal seas aren't coastal anymore, and coastal ships are dead... Nature could make trees grow faster for a while, or double animal spwn rate (Yikes!). Just a thought though...

More ideas for a Black Plague Unit. Cities hit by a Black Plague Unit go into revolt for three turns. Iv'e also come up with an idea for an armageddon wondder. Black Death Wonder puts every city in the world in revolt and adds +2 Unhealthiness in the world's 5 largest cities. It also turns half of all Barbarian units into Black Plague units.

Let me know what you think.

Im definitly thinking along the same lines as you on this. To answer your question some civs are rules by minor angels still loyal to their gods (Sabathiel), some civs are rules by minor angels that have broken the compact and gone "rogue" (Basium, Cassiel) and some are ruled by minor demons (Hyborem). The rest are people/elves/dwarves and orcs.

I like the idea of being able to to something to earn some special reward. We have the idea for an OO tech that can't be normally researched, instead you get x mount of research toward it everytime you sacrifice a slave. So if you sac enough slaves you earn some special tech that gives you new abilities, access to a new building or unit, etc. I could definitly see adding this mechanic to other things if the AI used them well.

As for the speheres you mentioned there are a few ways this is implemented. Every civ starts with a different mana type native. In phase 2 spells for most spellcasters are determined by the mana types you have access to. A calabim adept will start with a different spell than a bannor adept. There are mana nodes in the game and when you improve the node you pick what sort of mana to make it into.

So if you are the Khazad you start with Earth magic. So your adepts will start with the Wall of Stone spell and be able to gain other spells as they level. If you find a mana node you might decide that you have a lot of desert tiles in your country that you want to upgrade and choose to upgrade it to a Water node. Now your new adepts will start with Wall of Stone and the Spring spell.

I will probably leave the 'kill a unit/convert it to your control and creature type' as a uniquely werewolf mechanic. I think the mechanic fits best with the werewolf flavor and i hate to water that down by using it for another unit type.

Theres very much Monty python in it...Oh yeah one thing, ive run a fall from heaven game on the original scenario earth, nothing of the new recuercs like mithril, can you fix that in a later mod?
And about the later mod edit it on the first page somewere because your tread have 233 pages and it maybe vill be more!
One thing Kael your fantasy modding can help some in LOTR here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=153829

hope your willing to help!

That plague wonder suggestion got me thinking.

There should be some sort of wonder that spreads disease.

It doesn't need to spawn units; it only needs to disease/plague most of the units in the world (and then perhaps continue to plague some percentage of newly created units for some number of turns).

This would be an amazing wonder for the Ashen Veil.

The Ashen Veil could make an army of the undead (immune to disease/plague) and then unleashing the plague on the rest of the world with the wonder, leaviing them with the an army primed and ready for conquest. :D sounds fun.

Ashen Veil Wonder that gives diseased promotion to 50% or so units... That is great idea. If Kael would want to add second (and third and... ;)) religion specific wonder in phase 2, this one definitely gets my vote. It has good use in war, and possibly in peace, if Kael adds that diseases spread in cities. But maybe limit it that it doesn't affect you, your allies or other AV followers?

I like new spell sistem already. Will some spells cost money? I guess mana nodes will be worth like mythrill, if not more. Will mana types be tradeable like resources?

Hi Kael!

I am not sure if this has been suggested or not, but I think a hydra-type unit would be cool. Whatever its starting strength was would be increased at the end of the round if it was attacked, but not killed. That would kind of emulate the "growing two heads for every one that got hacked off" feeling. Is that possible, from a coding standpoint?

An entire ocean-living species would also be interesting, but probably difficult to implement and balance.

Anywho, just a couple ideas from someone having fun with the mod. Thanks again to you and your team. :goodjob:

Dave

Edit: P.S. What exactly does Typhoid Mary do? I created her in the 90 version, and I couldn't see what her "talents" were. Thanks again!

i have an annoying problem. I had to uninstall civ4 and reinstall it and i had really enjoyed fall from heaven. I reinstalled it and it took couple of seconds to install it unlike the couple of hours before. When i try to play it, the whole of the xml etc is mucked up and there about a gazillion areas. I've reinstalled it and it still doesnt work. Can you help me?

Kael said that he lacks models for dragons and sea monsters. Maybe he will get them for phase 2. But I must say that it would be cool to have some sea serpent that serves as submarine (invisible and all)

Typhoid Mary has chance that it will transmit plague to all units in stack it attacks. Plague gives negative healing rate and decreases strenght of the unit. Use it against heavily fortified cities. If enemy uses Typhooid Mary on you, cure plague with high priest.

Thank you very much! It sounds to me like she would be a worthy sacrifice to spread the plague, if it came to that.

If she were to die, would I be able to create another? Thanks again. Again! :)

Dave

It is world unit, so you can't create other, nor can your enemies. However, it has good strenght anyway, use it wisely.

@ Redstar: Seems like problem with cache. Try deleting cache folder in my documents/my games. Alternatively, look on past 5-6 pages on this thread, there must be something about renaming CustomAssets folder.

Is it intentional or a bug that I can't create demon summoners as the Order? IT would make sense but I can't find any information to that effect. I have the required tech and buildings but can neither build a demon summoner nor upgrade any of my adept class units to it.
