Hey everybody...

I'm getting sick of the MILLION threads saying "They should make this and this and this and this..."

PEOPLE!!! FFS!!! You can MOD IT!!!

The Developers has said time after time: Modding will be EASY! Come on now!
Team up and start making leaderheads on Blender and Civ-destribsions, decitions for UU's and UB's and Unique Powers...

"Start thinking about what you're going to mod instead of renting and raving about what is missing!!! " Thats my message!!!! ;)

And some protest in Spain? I just lost some respect to mankind there...

Sorry if im hurting someones feelings

McThomas

So, in any game they allow modding you are not allowed to do requests?

Cool, Im going to launch a spaceship game. The package will contain eclipse platform, a java manual and some space art. Don't ask for more, just do it yourself.

and what protest are you talking about?

Yes, you are allowed making request, but... just dont believe thats it gonna be heard, the developers do read some of thiese threads but, i dont think they'll shape a game that has cost them much time and money to just a bunch trolls/persons... (THIS DOES NOT MEAN ALL PEOPLE WHO REQUEST ARE TROLLS) but ive seen enough on the official forum

Cool, when does it go retail? :mischief:

I just briefly read about some article featuring some spanish article who would boycut Civ5 because there were no spanish civ...

Well, I think you can complain about particuar whiners, but not about asking for things in the game. I think it's good saying what players would like to see.
Besides looking too much like civ rev, I have written no complaint about civ5, but I still wish they had kept religions. I think it's legitimate to say so in the forums, and saying we can mod it is no reason to blame the request.

About the spanish boicot, I haven't read anything, but Im sure that was just a mad writter. I'm from spain, and I never play isabela when chosing leader, bc I prefer others. I'm still sad seeing her go, but only bc she has one of the fun AIs. There are many leaders that are about the same, some more aggresive, some less. But isabela has more personality in my opinion. She loves players with her religion, hates the others, likes to declare a lot, but is still pretty bad at warring. I like it when she is in my games, but bc of the AI she has, not bc beeing spanish.
Cool AIs are more important than nationalities imo. Why would you boicot a game for the flag a faction carries.

I will never boicut Civ5

And im going to try if i can gather people to make a religion mod :)

i dont blame the request's, but the demands...

Your breath is wasted on those people. Their problem isn't that Spain can never be in the game now, their problem is that they somehow feel slighted. They think civ games are some kind of ranking system, and their exclusion means that Pliny the Elder just said that their nation isn't as important as the ones that were included in vanilla.

It makes sense that Pliny the Elder would think Spain unimportant.

After all, he'd have:

Rome, Greece, Carthage, Macedonia, Persia, Egypt, Gaul, Germania, Sudan?, Epirus, Illyria, Dacia, Selucids, Pontus, Armenia, Parthia....

Oh Lord McThomas,

On behalf of all the thousands of people here at Civfanatics, I would like to formally apologize to your greatness for our actions offending thee. We will forever bow in humbleness to your greatness and ask your forgiveness be bestowed upon us. Please do not smite our pitiful souls in retribution and we shall vow to attempt to appease thee in the future.

Ahmen

:crazyeye:

Yeah...

haha, touche. Make that Sid Meier the Elder. Last of the great rankers.

I also wish I could like the OP. And anyway, Isabella would be boring without religion.

damn it, no +1 rep feature

Modding even the most mod-friendly game is more than a little bit complicated. As in, it's something probably less than ten percent of Civ players have the skills to do. So telling them to "just mod it" is not very helpful.

As for the "modding will be easy" line, I've heard that before. I'll believe it when I see it.

That's true. They keep saying modding will be easy, but I'm 100% confident I would be a complete failure at it and I very much doubt I'd ever try. But the point does remain that all of the things people are clamoring for (Spain, religion, etc) will be modded in by someone who does have the skill in probably no time at all. If only it were possible to mod a non-steam version, then everyone would be happy >.>

This is the other side of the coin; in addition to assuming that the technical aspects of modding are easy, the "just mod it" attitude also assumes that game design is easy, and just anyone can design, implement and balance good game mechanics and elements. This is to say nothing of the shabby art assets usually included in most mods I've seen. Just because someone mods it doesn't mean it's worth playing.

edit: Regarding accessibility of mods: if I understood what I read correctly, even the non-Steam versions will use Steamworks for multiplay, so that shouldn't be a problem.
