Mod it!!!

Oh, there are some out there, who do a quite good job ;).

Modding even the most mod-friendly game is more than a little bit complicated. As in, it's something probably less than ten percent of Civ players have the skills to do. So telling them to "just mod it" is not very helpful.

The skills are not the problem, mostly it's the time and endurance.
FfH2 hasn't been build in one day...or a month...or a year...

I'm getting sick of the MILLION threads saying...
Then don't read them!

Why do you attempt to affect the harmless posting habits of others? :p

Although I'm one of those casual civ5 forum viewers I've learned to weed out the noise and disinformation.

The proof of the pudding will be in the tasting. We can speculate and wish for things all we want, in the end once the product is available any criticism that follows will be the only ones that matter.

Exactly. Modding is skill; you can learn to do it. Complaining that you can't is... disingenuous.
Heh. This is a bit like saying that anyone can learn to program, and therefore can write their own games, and shouldn't ask for what they want from the professional game developers. Whether it's really true that anyone can learn to mod is beside the point; the vast majority of Civ players have neither the time nor inclination to do this.

I am a programmer, and I look forward to the possibility of participating in mod-making. But let's be realistic -- this is only an option for people with the appropriate skills, interest, time and -- let's be honest -- talent.

Posting disinformation that confuses casual forum viewers is not harmless.
I think you have a chip on your shoulder which has either temporarily impaired your reading comprehension, or you are looking for a fight.

I replied in the context of the OP which is about telling people to stop discussing what civs or features were or were not included in the game. You take my reply out of that context and into the context of a fan boy vs hater argument. :crazyeye:

BTW, people sharing their concerns and opinions is not posting disinformation. Their thoughts are factual, even if the data set they use is false.

Does anyone know if there are going to be "events" in Civ5 (like in BtS)? If so, modding/creating new events could go a very long way.

Very well stated. I also agree.

The problem is not about sharing concerns and opinions being "disinformation." The problem is that sharing concerns and opinions that do not agree with the opinions of certain people is "spreading disinformation."

It's a losing argument. You can't win. Your questions are irrelevant, no matter how logical they might seem. Opinion is meaningless, as are your concerns. All that matters is that "Illuminati" in this forum are correct, no matter the cost in sensible discussion. They do not accept conjecture, opinion, theory, clarification, or discussion that does not conform to their viewpoint. One dares not question established "truth."

Just so everyone is clear, the definition of disinformation is to spread inaccurate information intentionally. Misinformation is the spread of incorrect information unintentionally. By and large, the majority of the posts that have been labeled as "disinformation", are in fact "misinformation". There may be some people deliberately messing with our collective heads, but I doubt there is a huge conspiracy to mislead the masses operating here in this forum.

But this post is probably "disinformation" as well, since I have been clearly identified as a crackpot.

People! Stop asking for computer makers to make good computers! Ffs! Mod it!!!!!

I know you meant to be sarcastic or witty, but building your own computer is the cheapest and easiest way to get a quality desktop that runs fast. You save 200-300 dollars, and for only a couple hours of work, and get quality components, instead of whatever DELL decides is cheaper today.

As for the "modding will be easy" line, I've heard that before. I'll believe it when I see it.
Modding is a skill, it just takes practice.

Building rigs>Buying rigs

1) You can probably find a local store that you can pay to build a computer for you and you still probably save money or have better specs
2) Building a Mac is much more hard-core than building a Windows computer
3) Building a laptop is also hard-core

+5 stars.

While there will definitely be things I wont like in Civ 5, it's rather naive to expect the game to be custom tailored to my tastes and needs.

But I will be able to tell what I dont like only after I will play the civ 5 for several months. Because some things that look bad and make no sense at all suddenly become very attractive

* after you learn how they interact with the rest of mechanics,
* after you learn the rationale behind their inclusion in the game,
* after you learn how they truly work or
* after you become a bit more open minded and adjust your playing style to the game (as opposed to asking devs to adjust the game to your playing style).

There will be some things I still wont like, genuinely. But these will be things like Civ 4's ******** AI, poor memory management (talking PC memory here), bugs, vital info hidden from the player... real flaws, not silly "I dont like USA UU being Superman please change it to Batman".
