Hi,

This post is to the appreciation of Realism Mod crew, but also to the other members of this Mod community.

I was playing CIV - Realism Mod and I thought of some new Wonders, new techs, new Civics and new Great Persons that could be added.
It's probably later to add this new ideas to the incoming version, or it may be even "impossible" to ever add them to the mod (I don't know much about modding!!), but in my oppinion it's better to talk about them, than letting them in the drawer ;)

houman can you provide insight on some of the new units included in the game..:mischief:

by the way that one trebuchet was animated...how do you think it looks and if you thought it look good is it included in the new version of realism?

@Houman - standard civ4 tank is Sherman ;)

LOL, this is another proof, that I never had the time to play further than the Classical era. :D

Im with you Houman, im a classical/medieval to renaissance player. Anything after that just isnt my thing. Even if i did have the time.

Those new ethnic settlers are something im looking forward to. And ANOTHER immortal unit? I wonder what this one will look like.

Some great ideas Feilong, and they may be taken up by other interested people at a later date. If only all interesting ideas could be added.

Tank experts it is your call again:

I need suggestions for Modern Armor such as:
T72
T84
Abraham M1A1
Leopard 2A5

A modern Tank in game costs 240, Combat 40, think about other possibilities such as Firststrike, Firststrike chance and Withdrawl.

Thanks
Houman

I have a dumb question, is the mod 1.61 compatible yet? The release date says May 9th, but the directions still say the mod is 1.61 compatible???

I need to ask this question again:
Maybe
Leopard Costs 260, Combat 42
M1A1 Costs 250, Combat 41
T84 Costs 240, Combat 40, 1FS
Normal Modern Armor Cost 235, Combat 40
T72 Costs 220, Combat 39

Any modifications to First Strikes?

Thanks

Further upgrades include depleted uranium armor for all variants, a system overhaul that returns all A1's to zero hours (M1A1 AIM), a digital enhancement package for the A1 (M1A1D), a commonality program to standardize parts between the US Army and the Marine Corps (M1A1HC), and an electronic upgrade for the A2 (M1A2 SEP)."

T-84 Tank

" Depleted uranium armour-piercing ammunition for the 125 mm gun has been manufactured in Russia in the form of the BM-32 projectile since around 1978.
The T-72 with these enhancements and a skilled, motivated, proficient crew is a formidable opponent, even by twenty-first century standards, though it is not in the same class as the most modern designs such as the M1 Abrams.
The T-72 is designed to cross rivers submerged using a small diameter snorkel assembled on-site."

Looking at these, I would propose the following, from the best to the worst tank:

Leopard: Costs 260 | Combat 42 | +20% Defense and Attack in Radioactive terrain and nuclear fallout

M1A1: Costs 250 | Combat 41 | +10% Defense due to improved armor, and an NBC protection system | +20% attack with Uranium

T72: Costs 230 | Combat 40 (has more range than M1A1) | +20% attack with Uranium | +1 Movement water tiles

T84 Costs 220 | Combat 39 | +2 movement in desert terrain | +20% defense and attack in desert terrain

Normal Modern Armor Cost 215 | Combat 39 | I would only give FS to this one

Hope this helps!

I would make one suggestion: I would give first strike capability to those tanks with a Laser Range Finder. M1, Leopard, T-84 definitely, I can't remeber if T-72 had a Laser Range Finder or not. I think it was a later upgrade. Why would only the Modern Armor get the 1st strike?

I thought giving only the FS upgrade to the normal modern armor, just to balance armor upgrades, since the other ones have attack and defense bonuses.
But I agree that FS could also be given to the other tanks, although I think it would create "super tanks".:D

From what ive read and heard about the T-84 a first strike doesnt seem out of the question.

maybe there should be an addition of a better gunship to compensate for these new tanks or no land unit will be able to match up against them, but maybe i just think their should be an addition of an attack helicopter that is stronger than the gunship...

are these new tanks UU?

Wow Feilong, thanks for this excellent analysis.

20% attack with Uranium means 46 combat for T-72 and 49 for M1A1. They will be able to destroy everything once Uranium has been founded. Maybe 5% would be better in sake of balance. T72 would be then 41. and M1A1 would be 43...or maybe 7% increase..hmmm

T84 shall have a deset bonus of 20% and ice bonus of 20% because of AC. :)

Leopard can also have Fallout 20% no problem. However they are still a bit underpowered since in game there are not often Fallouts right? On the other hand they have already the highest combatrate.

Hmmm We have to be careful that normal modern armor doesn't get too weak, or other civs are in big danger.

These Tank will be UU that replaces Modern armor
M1A1 (American)
Leopard (German)
T84 (despite being Ukranian, Russia)
T72 (the most common tank in middle east; Egypt, Mali, Arabia, Persia, India)
Rest will get the normal Modern Armor.

Any more suggestions?
Houman

That is sweet.... Now it needs to be limited to just costal waters and then it would be perfect for this mod

I will remain patient, and so I will let this mod sit in "my downloads" until a 1.61-compatible version is out. I need patch 1.61 to play with a decent framerate in the Modern Age; I got great specs but I just can't hold cIV without that patch.
