Hi, would it be possible to limit the action radius of a ship so it's not so easy to discover the coastlines of africa and scandinavia in 4000BC. What I mean is, that's ships need to resupply at friendly harbors (water and food). Now you can move 2 squares per turn. Giving ships an action radius requires more effort to explore the world because you have to keep a good relationship with coastal nations and/or have to build resupply cities (Cape Town).

When you look at the development of ships you can see that there has always been a compromise between goods carry capacity, food carry capacity, and firepower.

Well, as it so happens, Impaler and I have been having discussions about altering the GlobalDefines.cpp file in order to adjust the heal rate of units in a city, home territory, neutral and enemy territory. The hope is that if we can give some of these a negative number, we might be able to incorporate the idea of 'Unit Attrition' into the game. If successful, then this could be applied to your suggestion to. Fingers crossed, eh?
