Modern Warfare with Revolutions

The events work. You must have downloaded the first draft that i uploaded where i forgot to add a events text file. If you download again the text file is inside fixing that problem.

With the extraction issue, just let it extract on your computer and be patient :D Pink squares would drive me mad. you could also open up the file inside Modern Era Warfare folder called Modern Era Warfare.ini and set no custom assets to 1 from 0, that may resolve whether your custom assets are interfering with the mod.
Dude could you up that text file as an attachment? I have a really slow internet here :(
 
Download updated. Was a problem where mech infantry were not getting promotions. Fixed.

In your original MEW mod..you had the "real always war" where all civs are at war with each other instead of just the human against all the AI. Does this feature exist in this version as well? I do not see it listed on your first post. I'd like to go back to an all out fight for the world ;)
 
Another thought concerning spies,

How is their exp calculated when they complete missions? Do they only get 1 exp per mission or do they get more for harder missions?

Also..when spies complete missions, they always return to the capital city. Since my capital is usually surrounded by my own cities, is it possible to have spies return to the nearest friendly city (vassal or home)?

Forgot about that part. It is good ^_^ It was made by a user called The_J. Ill try to implement that aslong as it doesnt cause too much trouble with BUG.

A few requests that i think would make a better mod.
Please put back in WWII tracked artillery.
Please put back in WWI (dreadnought era) and Pre-WWI (pre-dreadnought era) coal fired navies. ship of the line -> pre-dreadnought -> dreadnought -> battleship
Please put in a coal fired steam transport. (steamer)
Please restore tank and plane progression from your previous version, i loved it. Maybe skip the battle tank.

And a few personal requests that I always mod in myself.
Add Confederates for the American rebels.
Add a mortar/bombard with gunpowder.
Allow all archer/spear/melee to upgrade to musketman.

Yea i think i will beef the early modern era section up. I dont want to do too much because it can get very clustered and ugly very easily.

But i was not keen on those naval ships you talk of, they were are not as good as the other ones in this mod. I will look for better ones in the download database and test them out.

The tank progression is difficult because it goes so damn fast. There is many, and they can only be spaced between a few technologies. On the previous version, the time u start building a certain type, u got access to a better one before the original one u were bulding has finished. I am unsure on changing this.

I kind of agree about the tank progressions being way too quick. I always laugh when ya get that early tank and, if yer major science like I usually am, Ive got the next and better brand of tank in less than 20 turns.

Only way you can get around this is increasing the science costs and/or adding more techs to the tree, but that is a huge undertaking and really extends the game. And quite frankly, I dont think its really worth the effort.
 
I have an idea from civilization V. Its a pain having to move such huge armies around the map.

Im thinking of limiting the amount of modern units that can be built.

Modern Armor (16)
mech infantry (20)
Advanced tactical fighter (15)
Stealth Bomber (12)
Missile Cruiser (8)
Stealth Destroyer (10)
Modern Infantry (40)
Gunships (12)
Submarine (5)
Attack submarine (8)
AC130 (2)
Mobile Artilery (5)
Chinook (5)
Special Forces (2)

And all the other previous units in th upgrade paths limited aswell.

So with that limit, Id have to make all previous unit upgrades obselete so when you reach built limit, Cavalry, Infantry, early tanks etc isnt unlocked again. It could become more technical and have much more neat.

It might play out better end game, and great generals attached to units would become much more powerful.

finally some1 has created another Modern Age mod. I will try to install my civ4 one day special to try your mod! Have you also created any scenarios or how you actually play modern mod in modern age? :) feel free to use my mod units library for ur mod. two years ago ( when I created my mod ) I had almost all modern age units in my mod, but probably, more units were done after.
any way, very glad to see your stuff!

I am not sure that putting a hard cap on units is a good way to go specially with larger maps. One reason for alot of huge stacks is the large numbers of artillery you need to weaken cities defenses and defenders before you can cap it.

The other reason large stacks are so needed in the modern age is the huge cultural borders. If you attack with a small stack, you may do some damage, but you can never withdraw them to keep the alive. Its almost like as soon as they are in..its victory (city capture) or death because they will not be able to pull out. Bombers and artillery fire will make sure you never heal up.

The only way you can do hit and run is if you have the Commando promotion which allows you use enemy roads.

If you want to limit units and maintain some variety, consider a gold upkeep cost for units instead of a hard cap. This way, you can have that large army, if you're willing to pay for it. But choose a baseline set of troops that can still be unlimited yet still competetive with the limited units.

Another thing you may want also, add some civics for military. More Free Units? Upkeep cut in half, but penalty to culture/scienece/ etc..

You may also want to add a promotion that would allow you to airlift a unit out of enemy territory (at a cost of course). Make it part of a transport planes mission like a fighter has an intercept mission. If the transport chooses that mission, it picks a square with friendly units, and it will bring the most damaged unit back to the city. This can also be subject to interception from enemy fighters.

Just some thoughts to make a smaller army more effective and allow it a chance to survive the way the culural borders and defenses are coded.

Hi, I loved the first Modern Era Warfare Mod. It was very stable. However, I'm currently playing a game and whenever I discover astronomy, my computer crashes to the desktop. :(
 
I was playing the mod last night and my American forces with about 30 Abrams went after Shaka. He had some light armor but not much. Mostly Cavalry. I lost like half my forces to Cavalry. come on!! I know the AI just looks at the numbers but geez.:rolleyes::bts::bts:

Maybe shaka just got some oil, or was missing aluminium. Bump your difficulty level lol. Im playing on Prince majority of time and I always seem to be the furtherest behind in technology and last to get the high end technology.

You have not downloaded yet =) The Modern Eras in LoR and this spin off in different directions. Yes there is cross over with units like special forces, but very little else. I beleive mine has more modern era units because its specifically catered to it while i think LoR adds units to earlier eras and future era. Its very small mod to download so you can see what the different directions are yourself =)
 
This is probably one of my favorite mods on here but in this new version i cant make it past the medieval era. Ive tried about three or four games from the ancient era and it always ctds some time during the medieval era but i have no clue what is causing it. Any suggestions?

I have not changed anything in those eras, only modern era. If you upload a save game I can definatly check out if thats a problem with the mod.

To upload a save game, post as usual, scroll down and click manage attachments.
 
okay here is a save game right before a ctd. Ive played around some more and the Renaissance era in general seems to be unplayable for some reason im no expert on these things though.

Without a save, i cant really test much. Do you have an earlier one ?
