[modmodmod] The Sword of Islam Reborn

Hello there and kudos for re-vitalizing this amazing mod! Lately, I have discovered crusade related chanel on youtube which I recommend greatly: https://www.youtube.com/@RealCrusadesHistory. This made me want to re-live medieval Middle Eastern history. BTS is 17 years old and yet it is hard to find the relevant game with great balance of imersion vs simplicity it offers. CK3 et al. are great and all but I find myself drawn back to the best thing that ever happened to BTS -- RFC powered mods.

I was wondering if you have any plans of including Second Bulgarian Empire as a playable civilization, now when we have Balkans?

So I've been modding this thing on and off for...wow, it's been a while. While I never expanded the map west I did add a bunch of tiles to north and east. If you want some ideas of what to add there I may be able to help. Here's the Alans, for instance. Had to carve up the Caucasus a bit to fit 'em in.

Adding the Balkans was the main move to make the Bulgarians playable, also Serbians.
So yes, there will be a new bulgarian civ!
At the moment I just cannot tell you when.

Thanks for the reply! As long as it is in the plans I am happy (big fan of Bulgaria!) This extra real estate made Byzantium too strong, generating insane ammount of Marksman by 11th century.
Unrelated question: is there any way to find out where are the relics? F9 screen has wonders of the world and titles, so it would have been the natural place to check out for relics.

If a relic is found by a civ, they can be traded like techs, when it is not settled to the city.
If it is settled, you cannot check it legal. You can reveal the map by pressing ctrl+z (german keybord), and look in the enemies cities if there is the Holy Building.

Or are you talking about the unfound relics, which are still hidden on the map? There is no way to find out where the unfound relics are. I think that is a nice feature, because the relics should represent the lost mythical objects, and it is our mission to re-discover them. Similar to adventure films. E.g. the Holy Cross got lost, and the crusaders want to find them again and bring it back to Europe. It would be quite easier if they already know where to search.

I agree that unfound relics should not be visible, but there should be a legal way to know if the relic is somewhere on the explored map. In that regard, settled relic should not be any different than a Wonder, wouldn't you agree? People of that age would always know where is the famous relic.

I understand your thought, and totally agree.
If I find a way to add it, I will do it.

Would be a nice feature!

Please check the F9 screen and drop down menu for Wonders and natural wonders. Embryodead was able to mod a new item: titles. Maybe looking into his code will help you?

Could you please upload this somewhere? I'd love to try it.

@DrLoboto, I would be glad if you could upload your mod. It looks like great work:thumbsup:
Maybe we can merge this two mods somehow.
I have no modding experience other than moving one city on the 1200 AD map for my own personal copy of RFCE (Stettin was on the wrong side of the Oder River and it was bugging me), but if DrLoboto is okay with it, I'd be happy to try merging your map and theirs. The only new territory that would need to be designed is the northeastern corner of the map. I think this can be done only be editing the file in notepad.

So, there are 3 scenario files, and the default one has Ak Koyunlu named Timurids. So, I guess, we have to use the "other" one?

It was just the naming issue?

On the unrelated note, is it just me who thinks that Seljuks and Ottomans are underperforming? Seljuks never venture into Caucuses, which they devastated a lot in real life. Creating an independent Tabriz right before their spawn (if none present in the area) could solve this if it gets to flip to Seljuks.

Mistake solved. It is actually this.
Did DrLoboto send you their SOI modmod? I messaged them (sorry, don't know if they are male or female) and haven't heard back. Even if they don't want it merged with your SOI modmod, I'd still love a chance to play it, the new lands in the north and east look exciting.

Has anyone else noticed that the Makurians/Nubians are overperforming as well? Every game I've played so far, they take over Egypt and become a powerhouse that launches invasions into Iran for some reason.

I have! In my Antioch game they are second only to the buffed up Byzantine Empire ! And they refuse to trade Christian Relics 🤷

@GregFred187 Please place a river on 1SW from Constantinople! It will represent Bosphorus strait. Not sure why wasn't it there from the get go.

Oh, no! Human Player Portuguese keep getting re-enforcements just as if it is the old scripted AI situation. Nobody else complained?:badcomp:
