[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

what good is it if we can't enjoy it? It is useful as a beautiful fake bread. It looks delicious but you can't EAT it.

You can - just use it when you're not planning on going for cultural victory then turn off that particular victory condition and it will enhance every other game you play. Is that optimal? No, but it's not like it's completely unusable. You're being overly dramatic here even if it does take them some time to fix.

Yeah. I mean, it's a real shame that you basically have to turn off CV for it to work, but it is workable. Still, I seriously hope they do something to fix it soon, certainly before they cut support for Civ 6. Should do, though; sounds like it's a short sighted number rather than a bug, so it should just be changing a few numbers in the tables rather than having to scour the game for the unintended conflict like most bugs.

Again why should we not be able to enjoy a full experience and have to limit ourselves? Why are we not able to enjoy game as it is? All game developers must be sure to release a feature in game in top condition. Your attitude is what maked Warcraft reforged and Cyberpunk to give a pass.

Yeah, I hate having to make up my own challenges in order to make up for a game's flaws. Mostly because I find it hard to stick to them... I tried a no-district/wonder cultural victory once since cultural victory is so ridiculously easy to get if you can spam naturalists and rock bands, but I was so annoyed at having to pass up some juicy adjacency spots that I just quit halfway through that run

No one's saying that it's acceptable, just that you're being melodramatic in painting it as completely useless. There's some space in between.

Exactly. Nobody saying you shouldn't be able to enjoy the full experience, but acting like it's completely unplayable and that it can't be used at all is a huge stretch.

You can either make some small changes (literally just clicking a checkbox and maybe picking a different civ to play in that particular game) to your setup in order to enjoy the mode now, or you can choose not to and completely ignore it for however long it takes to get patched. Whatever works for you.

Devs needs to know this sort of thing isn't acceptable. Why the hell are they allowed to half-ass on the thing they are being PAID for! GOSH, I wish I could half-ass my job and get similar reaction.

Just a leeeettle bit busted

At least I'm finally getting the achievements.

Oh no, somebody messed up somewhere. You've never made a mistake at work?

Saying they half-assed it is just being overly dramatic again - you make it sound like a) they knew this was how it worked (which the dev video suggests otherwise) and b) they're perfectly okay with this (which there's absolutely no evidence of). You're making some pretty big leaps to work yourself into a frenzy here, and it hasn't even been a full week since the content was released.

Calm down.

That seems like a reasonable amount of turns to win a Culture Victory... Does the longer time to achieve said Victory have something to do with the difficulty?

What speed and map size are you playing on? I got an unintentional culture win as China Kublai on turn 276 on huge map at standard speed.

Same. Huge Map, Standard Speed. Wasn't even trying to win Culture with Persia or Egypt, but it just happened, I suppose.

Yeah, the mode is kind of busted then. Getting a victory you didn't intend to shouldn't really happen.

I actively avoided Culture in that Persian game too. Didn't build Theatre Squares or Wonders until the late Renaissance, and relied mostly on the Pairidaeza for culture and Religion/Corps for Tourism.

Any Civ with a teeny cultural advantage is going to win CV in that mode. Currently testing a game with Georgia (a Civ without an inherent Culture bonus) and see if I can do it again.

I had three national parks, two theater squares and some wonders but I think what did me in was the Biosphere since I was putting energy improvements everywhere.

Biosphere is very strong even without the Corporation mode, it basically turns every energy improvement into a spammable tourism UI. I had won Cultural Victories by using Biosphere and non-Cultural civs before T300.

If the game ever gets fully fixed on console that's something I intend to give a try, intentionally and without the M&C mode on.
