Hi :) Now that Montenegero has declared independence, I'm wondering: Does "Serbia and Montengero" still exist, just only with Serbia? Is it now just "Serbia", but still technically a state union? Or is Serbia now an entirely independent country too?

I believe it is.

Translation?

Well obviously you don't speak Cleric, basically what he is saying is apart or together they are the same, and any influence that has on the world cup is negligable, if we look at the histories of the two "countries" we can find that in reality... Oh wait a minute I don't speak Cleric, shiznitz!:D

Yeah, they're in group C with Argentina, Ivory Coast, and Holland. Argentina and Holland are the favourites to go through.

It came from the name Crna Gora which means Black Mountain, and and it turned into it's Venetian name, monte negro.

Has the split already occured? I know Montenegro voted for independence, but does it have a functioning government of its own yet, or is it still joined with Serbia?

As far as I know, It's got a functionig government of its own. Much of the necessary bureaucracy is there, since Serbia and Montenegro were a loose federation precisely so that Crna Gora can function if it seceded.

On the topic, I think it is logical that the confederation of Serbia and Montenegro now ceased to exist and both countries will now have their own names.

OK and the rest?

Winner explained the rest.

Now... where is that 1991 cartoon of the mapmaker pointing a gun to his head because there's too many border changes? That's the first thing that came to mind when I read that.

I remember that clearly - we had just spent the previous year learning about the Soviet Union...

Strange that I can usually catch at least some ideas, when I see other Slavic languages written (except those written in cyrillic ;) ), but I don't understand a word when I am in Croatia or Serbia ;)
