I nearly had

:hmm: I do not think that i am unjustified in my observations. After all it would help to think of the differences between one graphic and a set. What exactly does one value? The one file? The overall effect? What is the overall effect? Do you not care about what the competition actually is about?
I am just used to examining things and so would seem to be out of place in more casual affairs, although since i am in the clear minority here i can only back away from my request.
I fear you take these contests too seriously. While your arguments would be absolutely correct if the completions had a real price, that's not the case. They are meant for fun, and no one should feel a loser for missing the first place. Thus we don't need any strict rules, and I think we all agree that Flamand runs them smoothly.

I'm going to be entering 1 of the 4 Lhs I did recently, but the problem is I can't decide on which one to enter.... Maybe a little help from you guys?

Which should I enter?
Aeris, for the same reason.

I'm a phycicist myself with 6 years of teaching experience and currently working in the eye department of an university hospital. I can be extremely nitpicky if I have to. But like you said this kind of scrutiny is a bit out of place here.

So let's just have fun with this and make some nice Civ III stuff, the main reasons why I started this thing in the first place... ;)

Very nice work... :)

Hmm, do you guys think I should be putting in my Ghost ship (my current entry) or my King of Red Lions for this one? Kinda torn between them now...

Which is why I'm proposing to keep the CnP's and create three categories for the future, Completely original works, Semi original works(were you used another's models for example) and CnP or similar.
Just chiming in with my cent and a halfs worth.

I disagree with fragmenting the competition. I say keep it as simple as possible, and just let the voters decide.
The most difficult unit I've made was the C&P of that jeep. It took more hours than the next two combined... maybe the next 4 or 5.
I took the default animation from another unit. Modified 80% of the pixels for just that animation and then made the other animations from that. So, while clearly including a few bits of someone elses work, it was an original work by any reasonable definition. And certainly involved more work than I ever hope to put into a single unit again.
By your rules, there has not been an original Poser unit in years. Since 99% of them are either based on the paperdoll, or one of Daz3d's built models. Similarly, I only model the parts I don't find lying about in my "parts bin". Was my Hummer a lesser unit because someone else did the wires for part of the front half?
This competition is about the product not the process. If one unit was harder because the process and the voters think that is a good basis for a tie breaker, great.

Lets just keep this all friendly and as simple as possible. Or I'll send my norse axeman to knock you around until you agree with me.;)

@Flamand: If possible, I would like to change my submission for the present month competition. :)
My new submission, replacing the Ring of Power, would be:

Artist: beboy, Vuldacon
Name of file: Princess Pistol
Other/original artists: Utahjazz7, Firaxis

She's in...;) Would you please give a full preview, with all the animations of the unit?

Oops! Sorry about that utajazz7; I forgot about that assessment. It's great Flamand made it and I shall respect it in the future.

BTW, utahjazz7, I never thanked for your pistol animation: this unit wouldn't have been possible without it! Thank you and sorry for the confusion.:thanx:

Unfortunately, I won't have time to do good ones before Saturday. However, if it's OK with you, I can make crapy previews from flic2gif of the other animations.
