MOO2Civ

Well Jeleen all you see in the first download page is that the file is 100mb, it doesnt say zipped or not. The file downloaded is 35mb and when unzipped the folder is about 130mb.

it's all a bit confusing, I just wanted to make sure I am downloading the right thing. The zip is called moo2civ(patch4c) but the folder inside is named moo2civ(patch4b) and inside this folder there is a folders structure but also several other zips named moo2civ(patch4b) although very small in size.

Am i supposed to unzip those?

Just follow the DL instructions on the DL Page: it's a Full Install, all you need to do is unzip into your Firaxis/BtS/Mods folder. No further unzipping necessary! (Just make sure there isn't a MOO2Civ (Patch4b/c) folder inside the MOO2Civ (Patch4b/c) folder.)*

* It's actually Patch4c, but I forgot to rename the original upload; anyone downloading now will have the Mod/Patch correctly named.

Ok all sorted, thanks. Nice work with the mod. :)

A note on OOS occurring during Multiplayer on IP connection

It may help to make sure that MOO2Civ versions are not only identical, but also named identical. (Currently testing this. If confirmed, I'll report back on this and add a note on it to the DL Page.)

Meanwhile, MOO2Civ (Patch4c) FULL INSTALL is at 2,900+ downloads.:D

With all due respect, I have two bones to pick with you:

1. It's time to eliminate those python startup trait bugs in the CvFinalFrontierEvents.py file. These bugs are a nuisance

TRAIT_SYDICATE
TRAIT_THE_FORGE
TRAIT_BROTHERHOOD
etc, ect.

2. Please fix the download! No one should have to play around with duplicate folders.

3. Other than that, I like the progress being made -- so far.

1. I will look into that - as soon as I have time (I already explained I'm currently working on several non-MOO2Civ projects). I uploaded Patch4c as a Full Install, so people don't need to DL 2 separate files and because I've been unable to do anything MOO2Civ in a while now.

2. What duplicate folders?

Other than that, I appreciate any (critical or otherwise) input.

I'm actually glad with the reminder, as I noticed something else I forgot on the latest Status Report, so here's an updated

Status Report

For Patch5 are planned:

- custom Fighters/Scouts
- Spies
- immobile "PDF"s (to be named along the line Marines-Armor-Cyborg)
- a scenario featuring Antares and Orion
- Python error fix
- start screen.

All of the above will get done, so bear with me. If there's something left out or anybody would like to put in, just let me know.

2. What duplicate folders?

Quote from your download page:

PLEASE NOTE:

!!! - If you get a MOO2Civ (Patch4c) folder inside the Mods/MOO2Civ_(Patch4c) folder: rename the Mods/MOO2Civ_(Patch4c) - to like zMOO2Civ_(Patch4c), cut and paste the MOO2Civ (Patch4c) folder inside to the Mods folder. You can then delete the zMOO2Civ_(Patch4c) folder, as it is now empty. - !!!

Duplicate folder, cut and paste -- not good. When a customer unzips the file, it should be a clean install.

I added that note, because some mods get installed that way. (I've come across it myself with certain mods.) It's meant as a general cautionary note. Anything else?

Nope. I just want to see the next MOO2 installation have a clean install without any need for cut and paste or annoying python start up errors.

That's OK. Now if you frequented this thread more often, you might have noticed that these "Python errors" have been reported twice. I've asked if anyone else got them and received no replies to this effect nor any reports of installation not working properly. Nevertheless, I will look into it, rest assured.

Perhaps it is because I have error checking enabled and any error that exists, will be exposed. This could explain why others may not have seen these errors and why you received no further replies. Error checking really helps me to weed out the bugs before I publish a new version to a mod. So, I just leave it on all the time.

Not really, I'm afraid. (I'll get back on that.)

On another note: it seems the mod is getting worse in somebody's view, as Patch4c just got downgraded from A+ to B-. (Again, no explanation is given.) This is getting really annoying...

How do you know it's not just a new voter?
