More Terrains / Terrain Features / Bonus Ressources [IMPLEMENTED]

Hi guys, I now also gave players this Game Option:
No Hemisphere Restricitons for Ressources
(It is realted to the new "Bonus Ressource Spawning System" for "Correct Northern / Southern Hemisphere" I shortly mentioned here.)

It allows to deactivate "Hemisphere Correct Placement of Bonus Ressources" in case the player does not care about immersion and wants to have more balanced generation of Bonus Ressources for gameplay.
(It is basically the same idea as "Random Settlement Areas of Natives" that also reduced immersion a bit but generates more balanced and more surprising maps.)

Vultures really not for human food. :crazyeye:
It is risky (health), tastes bad, smells more bad, and must cooked for soup for hours (not fit to be roasted).

Anyway they are wandering around and search corpses to feed on.

Iguana/ cactus ok.

The vulture could indicate that there is game nearby, hence the +2 food bonus?
Other possibilities for a food bonus in the desert could be jackrabbit or quail.

Did you / will you create a better Storm graphics too?
The Storm / Favourable Wind / Dis-Favourable Wind on Ocean are currently still the same as before.
But now that you say it, the Storm could get better graphics as well.
(Would actually be quite simple.)

I'm asking because the current one is quite buggy. It hides Improvements and Terrain features.

...and Units.

But you are probably aware all of these :)

Sorry, I do not understand. :dunno:

The Storms in WTP (on Ocean) are not buggy.
And in your screenshot I also do not see any Storms.

Which Storms are we talking about?
Are we talking about bugs in WTP or bugs in Civ4BTS?

Isn't it like that in Col too?
Not the Storm graphics we have in WTP (created by a Civ4Col modder).

See here:
(Winds and Storms on Ocean.)

But the new graphics for Sandstorm and Fog are even better.

One thing, which has been on my wishlist for a while is storms without lighting, possibly as a graphical option. I have always found the "look at me" flashing to be quite annoying.

There you go, your new Storm. :)
(By the way, this thing is animated - it rotates and stuff like that.)

By the way:
If it is "too dark", let me know.
(Can of course make it a bit "less black" if you want - but now it is easily to distinguish as "Storm".)

Tremble in fear ... :satan:
Maybe I will tune it down a bit before we release this ...
Spoiler :

Nah, do not worry, they will look like this:
(The "big storms" is currently still a prototype.)

Storm now also got a new Button.
(Did not like the old "lighting button" - see button in image with Worldbuilder above for comparison.)

The Unfavourable Wind also has a new Button.
(Really did not like that ugly "black cloud button" - see button in image with Worldbuilder above for comparison)

They now better match Favourable Wind.
(That button graphic I really like.)

Ok guys, I changed / improved Favourable Wind and Unfavourable Wind as well.

1. They also had annoying Lightning / ugly Rain
2. They were pretty hard to see / differentiate sometimes.

Now it looks like this:

By the way:
The original cloud graphics are not from me - I found them in Orlanth's pack.
These clouds are animated - they spin / move.

Perhaps white and gray is a bit too close. Make the gray one a bit darker. Otherwise I like it. It also makes it easier to spot and see which plot it is on. That's another issue. With a lot of weather features next to each other, unfavorable wind tend to hide and sometimes in general it can be a bit hard to tell precisely which plots has weather features, hence hard to tell how to navigate the area.

So ok guys,

Sandstorms and Fog are now fully integrated in the game.
Also the code and balancing of Storm Generation itself (Ocean and Land) has been improved.

The images you see are actual results of "new generation code and balancing".
(No manual placement of Terrain Features by Worldbuilder involved.)

Comment on Storms / Winds on Ocean:
They do not "blink" as rapidly anymore. (So no more strange "on / off").
The Storm generation has become a lot "smoother".
(Storms may stay on a plot for some turns before they are removed and re-generated somewhere else.)

How did you make the Fog appear on top of Forest? Aren't those both terrain features?
