:worship: They're trying to take over the World (one soul at a time) anyway.

Why not include them as a Civilization?

Leader - Joseph Smith or Brigham Young or Donny Osmond or Orrin Hatch.

Phalanxes of missionaries in God's Army.

They would strike fear in the hearts of other players.

Battle sound effects could be the sound of a door knocking.

Population increase would be rapid.

Holy wars would be commonplace.

No separation between church and state.

Very Conservative.

Tabernacles instead of cathedrals. Stake houses instead of churches.

Wonder - Salt Lake City Temple.

Expansionist.

Polytheism could be replaced with Polygamy.

I think it's a marvellous idea.

They could actually begin as the Lost Tribe of Egypt.

There could be wars againt Jehova's Witnesses and Jesuits.

Battle cries of "oh my heck", "gosh" and "darn it".

Instead of settlers they'd have missionaries. But you would need a two units to found each new city.

Oh, and you would have the option to "excommunicate" any unhappy or resisting citizens to maintain civil order.

Marvelous idea.

I think the techinal term is 'extracting the Michael' ;)

When I saw Donny Osmond as a leader, I figured it was a joke.

The Mormans are a religion, not a civilization.

could be considered in the new religion component of CIV 4 but since we know nothing about that aspect of the game yet, hard to see how this could be incorporated.

The Mormons believe that they are descended from the Lost Tribe of Egypt which left North Africa and ended up in America. Therefore, the Mormons would be a Civilization born of the Lost Tribe. It's all in the Book! :jesus:

There should at least be some population-sapping raging hordes of Missionaries popping up all over the map.

Excellent suggestions.

I second the motion. :jesus:

I think there is a great deal of scope for this idea. Firaxis take note!

Not really a joke. :mischief: there is some humour attached but I think it's a great idea. original and entertaining. :)

Religious zealots have driven the World to ruin so why not introduce the wealthiest fastest growing soul solicitors to the World domination game.

can i get an Amen? :jesus:

What are you talking about? Haven't you even been to Utah?!

What I am saying is that the Mormons are a religion.

Last I knew, Utah belong to the United States and not to the Independent Nation of the Mormons. Sure the Mormon Religion has had an influence on Salt Lake City and the state of Utah, as would any other religion with such a strong precence in a single area. That just does not mean that they are a civilization unton themselves.

NO, NO, NO

A case could be made for Catholics, as they are very organized and have governing power. But even in Utah, the mormons don't run the governmnent, which is an essential part of a civ.

the mormons run the "welfare" programs of the state... the mormons hold almost all gov't offices...

what do you think constitutues "running the gov't"?

Well, Christians run most of the offices in the United States, UK, France, etc from the founding. Should Christianity be considered a civ?

If we start going down the road of including religions, we should change the name from civilization to "Religion". It would become a completely new game.
