Most annoying Civ leader in you're game?

I guess my "nightmare map" would be me, Shaka and Monty on a relatively small continent, Mansa and Gandhi on another, huge continent with lots of grassland and something like Izzy, Alex and Nappy on the third landmass. :)

In that case an early kill of them both seems appropriate, axes could really help since they'd cut through their UUs and then settle all your continent while always beelining Astronomy, Fission and Rocketry. Obviously it's easier said than done but it's feasible, it could be done.

A challenge... I might just try it in a near future. :D

To me the annoying factor of that situation would be the difference in relative quality of the terrain. I've lost count of how many times my cap is completely surrounded by desert, tundra, and mountains (with the only consolation being maybe a floodplain or two, and maybe incense), while Mansa sits there in an ocean of grassland with gems and every calendar resource you can shake a stick at. And too far away to make an early romp worth the economy crash.

It's definitely my own fault since I play Fractal maps in order to try to get a lot of natural choke points going, but that won't stop me from ing about it.

As a new civ player I had to register to spew my hatred for Saladin and by guilt of association his buddy Cyrus.

Finally finished my earth18 game as Mali, after being involved in a 2000 years on and off war with Saladin, trying to kick him out of East Africa and makes a push for the Suez canal and beyond. Every time I thought I had him on the ropes his buddy Cyrus would show up with stacks of troops and force me back, and as my semi-crappy cities couldn't keep up with the production of units I always had to settle for peace. Of course while I was repeating this futile stale-mate every 50 yrs or so the Chinese was happily eating up all my lead and pulling ahead in the points ranking. In the early 1900ies I almost managed to make a push for Bagdad but had most of my siege weapons destroyed in 2 turns after a miss-click leaving them all exposed in the middle of his territories. In 2030 I though me and Catherine could finally crush this alliance but after razing two cities and making a push for Persepolis I again suffered a brutal defeat where it seems like he won 50 battles in a row where he attacked me with the same unit I was defending with and of course winning each one while Catherine who sold me on this glorious enterprise sat home with her army and laughed and built more and more space space shuttles parts with tech I gave her in the first place.

Have you ever played with him?!?! EVERY SINGLE TURN he asks for you to cancel deals with someone!!! It's so annoying!

My personal hatred; Sitting Bum and Abe Lying. Last huge map i played, they decided to buddy up in the New World, vasseled Monty and Cupac. Ol' Abe took everything east ( including Carrib) and Bum took everything west to hawaii ( and I didn't know it at the time). I manage to carve out a nice western empire like the good little roman I am, good number of vassels and a stong econ and mil.
So I start thinking about setting up a city in Greenland, be a good launch point into the new world ( England was a vassal and was having fun ticking off mansa and shaka) and send my expeditionary force to accomplish my Grand Vision.
As I'm doing so, my fleet runs into Good Ol' Abe, heading on a similar course as me. Yes Sir, I'll take peace, even though I can't trust you ( I had him beat on turns, and I had a GA with the crew, gotta keep up morale) I know I can beat you ( or so I thought)
just after this, war alarm sounds and SB is attacking Toku ( I'm goung huh?), Find out that Monty's established a beach head Down Under, and Cupac is playing "shove the spear" with Shaka ( I am now beginng to go "oh crap"). Abe of course, is being the perfect gentleman, and is offering me all sorts of beneficial trade deals ( now i'm being paranoid) and assuring me that we're all best buddies ( now I know i'm screwed). Long story short, that little dynamic duo managed to get a Hegonomy win through their actions. Hate those two worth a passion that borders on a psychotic breakdown.
As for others, Izzy, Ragz, Jao, and David can be a pain. Ice Queen 'Beth is dangerous as well, especially if she early pops a GM or two. As for the most underated who can be extremely dangerous; Henry the VIII. That fat bearded ego-maniac has a nasty trait combo that proves deadly if he manages to get an early jump. His usual tactic is to take out Netherlands for a staging area, then take out Germ. Once consolodated, He'll go for the French Toast and follow it up with some nice Spanish coffee, once he's had breakfast, he'll look for some nice pasta after a pleasent horse ride from all those horses he just got. I don't know about anyone elses games, but in mine, he's one big Billy Bad-Ass.

Ah, so much choice. The predictable warmongers are somewhat annoying, if only because I have to focus my pointy stick attentions on them so early and it messes up my beautiful city layout plans as I have to prep for war.

Having said that, the spy spammers are pretty irritating - if I'm next to SB or Churchill (wow, that pout) they'll eventually get the wrath of Foot..not because they'll do that much damage, but just because it's so annoying and if it goes on, I end up having to count turns until I can do the next counter. Better to just kill 'em off. Surprising to me, Pacal managed to go OTT on the espionage as well. Perhaps it was because I was next to him and doing better, but it got such a bother that he suddenly started finding that he was losing cities and his other neighbours declaring on him.

Is there a way to reduce the propensity of some leaders towards espionage - it seems kinda ridiculous with some of them..

Oh and the Chairman likes his spies to and is pretty treacherous. His little red book mentioned nothing of that.

Pacal and Sury always tick me off. For some reason, I really have trouble enjoying a game with them. I'm honestly not even sure why. I can deal with Shaka or Monty, but when those two guys show up, the game can only go downhill.

I guess we need a poll, but Sitting Bull annoys me to no end.

He alternates between poisoning the water in one of my cities and asking me for free stuff. It's something every turn. He's useless as a vassal , too, because he never actually helps you fight when war comes. If he's in my game, he must go.

Hmnn, poll sounds fun. Maybe have a section in there titled" kill 1st by any means", just to see who's the most major PITA.

And here I thought you were referring to his tech recommendations

As for annoying AIs next to me...
Any creative who settles in my face... damn those early 40% defenses... Gilgamesh is the worst with his protective archers and vultures
And of course: Sitting Bull (who is adorable if he spawns on the other side of the continent, as he'll always draw the attention of all the aggressors to himself and he'll still manage!), if he's next to you, especially if he blocks you from other AIs -- you may not even get foreign trade-routes as he may well get pissed at everyone and he's such a nuisance with all his spies and dog soldiers and super-archers aarggh

Sitting Bull**** for me. The constant poisoning of my water is a headache. He doesn't beat you, he just makes the game annoying. If he's on the other side of a large continent he isn't so bad. All those phony wars to keep the warmongers happy with you.

Cathy doesn't bother me so much, although I know I can never trust her.

I am playing as Japan in one of my games and I am like in the year 2093 and I notice later on Civ leaders ask you for everything later on. I would like to know who is the most annoying leader that you are dealing with?
For me it is:

Justin Ist: I don't know why he is just so annoying but I just guess it is his theme music

Charlamange: This guy is also annoying but I don't like him for the same thing.
And I think that is it for me. What about you?

Hmmmm Probably Saladin EVERY TIME i play im right NEXT to him and it takes about 3000+ to kill off ALL of his archers in his cities!:mad::mad:

Catherine, Russia always seems to get bigger then her neighbours and likes a little backstabbing. Although if closely allied can be a massive friend. but usually just the backstabbing

Right now Sitting bull is annoying me because he's attacking me from the other side of the continent and losing his stacks to me while I'm trying to warmonger and take Asoka, the neighbor. He already declared war on me 2 times and is stalling my conquest of Asoka's India.

Research new tech, select new one to research... What's that sound? oh it's hobo Gandhi begging at my door... Oh hey buddy, can I have that new tech you just finished researching? Oh I like you a little less now. Oh hey acquaintance can I have that new tech? I don't like you now. Give me your new tech! We are enemies now.

EVERY DAMN TIME!

It actually really annoys me that the AI can have things that are completely off the table so cannot be demanded or asked for, yet you can't do the same to them so they can kill your diplomatic rating or eliminate your tech advantage constantly by asking for them.

This isn't a fundamental asymmetry. You're perfectly at liberty to decide you hate the AI that won't put a given tech on the table, and go to war with them because they won't give it to you.

my most annoying leader would be Hannibal. I have started next to him way to much. I play as Russia lots, Cathrine more specifically. HE EXPANDS SO FING FAST! I manage to block him and if I do? oops I have 50 more score than you! boom war with him. what annoys me most was that he had 4+ in four different sections of diplomacy, yet when monty declared on me so did lizzy AND HANNIBAL.

Shaka and Ghandi. They always find a way to be furious with me.

How do you get Gandhi at furious? I can't even get him at annoyed for more than three turns, even if I invade and take all of his cities but one.

You must be using nukes, no?

Okay confirmed, Shaka.

I just started a game and just entered classical era with Iron Working. I felt lucky i had iron near my capital. Shaka obviously researched writing and asked me for open border, i declined and boom, he declared war on me before i could even put a mine on iron and captured my capital then another city. He already had swordmen and horse archers. And to have a peace, he requires that i surrender another city, which if i do, i'll have only one city left which is right inside jungles ....going to retire to remind me why Shaka is my worst enemy now.
