Most. Pathetic Excuse For Not Working. Ebbar.

"Keeping us up here eats away at families," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. "Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families -- that's what this says."
This crybaby who is whining about working more than two days a week makes $13,766.67 per month. He has consistently voted against raising the minimum wage. A working stiff working a five day, forty hour week at the current minimum wage makes $10,704/year. I say that this jerk switch jobs and income with a minimum wage worker from his district.

I for one like my reps to return home and work in their local offices. If they spend all of their time in Washington they become out of touch with the the people they are supposed to represent.

Do you think they're in touch with us now?

I guess you don't care about Iraq, our FUBAR'd healthcare system, our growing economic stratification, the massive corruption in our government, the unchecked executive and the erosion of our Constitution. Congress has been absolutely inactive on ALL of these issues over the past two years, and the American people expect Congress to try to fix the problems within its legislative jurisdiction. Congresses that do nothing get praised by libertarians, then trashed by the electorate.

You assume (incorrectly, I think) that all of those issues would get fixed (or at least show improvement) in a more active Congress. Personally, I think a Congress putting in normal 40hr workweeks wouldn't affect Iraq or 'growing economic stratification', they'd probably hurt more than help with massive government corruption and erosion of our Constitution, and might help with the unchecked executive and health care. So, it's a wash.

In a more negative light: The more 'work' they do, the more things will get screwed up :(

lol beat me to it.

The harder they work, the more bills get passed, and the more money they spend/waste.

Isn't there a saying that goes like "the government that works the best, works the lest"

On the other hand crying about missing your family is pretty lame.

You know if "work done by legislative"= "costly screw ups", why not abolish them completly?

Yep, it's a paraphrase of Thomas Paine, one of America's top revolutionaries. His pamphlet, Common Sense, was a driving force to get the general population in a more anti-monarchy, pro-republic/democracy mindset.

We need more common sense today, I'd say...

They coudl still work full time and pass fewer laws. Heck, it would probably do wonders if they were required to actually completely read and understand what they were voting on. That alone would cull the number of bills while still requiring them to spend a lot of time actully doing rep. work.

Kind of have to side with the Dems on this one. You want a six figure salary? Work for it!
Ditto. If it's tearing your family apart being so far away so much, then have them move to Washington. You can afford it.

Not to mention hopefully cull the amount of legislation thrown into unrelated bills.

"What the heck is this copyright stuff doing in this Environmental Bill!?!?... NAY!"

Poor baby has a one-and-a-half day work week at $160,000 a year signing legislation lobbyists write for him. I'm sooooo moved.

Hoyer should just say, "The Republicans aren't required to follow the extended schedule. In fact, we encourage them not to. The fewer votes Republicans cast, the better off the country is. Plus, more time home means less time in Washington molesting underage boys."

Does writing stuff like this make you feel good on the inside? I would like to know the motivation behind your weekly hate-filled rants.

This person is such a loser
