Being able to stack a bunch of combat bonuses onto one unit class usually spells victory.

This is because combat bonuses are multiplicative per point - about 1.04x each point. So something obvious, like Conquistador + missionary + wars of religion + el Escorial + oligarchy legacy + GG just compounds itself. (That’s like 82 strength or something.)

Hungary can also pull this stunt on levied units and grab the govt plaza building to grant any levied unit +9 between the building and Civ ability- before stacking oligarchy etc. This one is really fun if you just cheese levy+ black army.

Ditto for gran Colombia.

Fascism also has HUGE upsides because of the universal +5 bonus if you need to crush the last holdouts. (Fascism also gives you third alternative, which is a great card.)

Perhaps the way I worded the OP was confusing.

There are as many way to play this game as there are players (constrained by the limitations of the game engine, of course), compounded by the map, so it's really hard to classify a synergy as "OP" without taking all the factors into consideration. But, I get what you're saying

These are strong in combination but operate independently so have nothing to do with synergy.
