Movie quiz

It was Joan of Arc, but I only remember Milla Jovovich, the other is that young chick...Sobieski?

'fraid not.
You're thinking along the right lines though.

I'm afraid a few Cesars and 'outsanding acress in a miniseries' Emmy nominations don't cut it.

...in that it's a historically prominent female, and the films were in the last 10 years.

Slow quiz day.

So, this historical female character was played by two different actresses in two different films. Both performances were nominated for Oscars in the same year (one for best leading, one for best supporting actress).
This all happened in the last 10 years.

Judi Dench (nominated for best supporting actress for Shakespeare In Love) and Cate Blanchett (nominated for best actress in Elizabeth). Both portryed Queen Elizabeth I.

On the nose Bigfoot.
Apologies for the delay. Internet maintenance/downtime and some wine at work intervened :p

Judi got the Oscar, 'tis a shame Cate didn't, because:

1) she's a better actress than Gwyneth Paltrow

2) Elizabeth deserved it

3) there was a third reason

4) then there'd be a second answer to my next question, whenever it comes around ;)

OK, I guess it's my go:

Which actor holds the record for the most film performances?

The chick holding the torch in the Columbia Pictures logo.
:)

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an American. That Amitab Bhachin (spelling?) must have been in like 100 bollywood movies, and that's probably just scratching the surface of the guys over there.

:rotfl:

A couple of hints:

1. It is not anyone from Bollywood

2. 'Performed in' has a fairly broad meaning

Is it the chap who bangs the gong at the start of those old Rank films?

Must be one of those cartoon guys...the guy who did Bugs Bunny? Was that Mel Blanc?

Correct Polymath! Mel Blanc performed in 709 films, making him the most prolific actor.

Cool.
OK, staying on cartoons, who originally did the voice for Mickey Mouse?

Wild guess - Mr Walt Disney himself?
