Movie quiz

Well, rather than think:

Portrayal of what character has led to two different actors winning acting Oscars?

You about to leave work and go home Dr Jimbo. :-)

To quote a wiser one than me on th eprevious page:

Judi Dench (nominated for best supporting actress for Shakespeare In Love) and Cate Blanchett (nominated for best actress in Elizabeth). Both portryed Queen Elizabeth I.

Well, I did ask that previous question, but Cate Blanchett didn't win an Oscar. I'm looking for two oscar-winning performances (playing the same character), not necessarily in the same year.

OK, try again. De Niro and Brando both played and recieved oscars for playing Don Corlene in the Godfather films?

That's the one (or two)

Over to you.:)

If product placement existed in 1958 which currently trading company got maximum impact at the end of a classic WW2 desert film starring John Mills?
(Name the film and the Company or product)

.........

... .... .. ....

Yes Dr Jimbo. You have all the dots in the right place. :)

I think I know the movie. It is of SAS blowing Afrika Kaorps stuff. Is it called Rommel something, or something Rommel?

At last! A sensible question.

Ice Cold In Alex was the film. Carlsberg lager was the product/company.

EDIT: Since I know I'm right, but won't be around for a while, I waive my right to ask a new question. Dr Jimbo would be a reasonable choice to inherit, since it's clear from his dots that he also knew this one. :)

I dont think you are quite on the right track.

Its about an ambulance making its journey across the desert to a safe allied occupied city. Its more of a drama that an out and out war film.

sorry posted too soon. :goodjob: illustrious. well done. over to you.

Thanks, Iggy, but I won't be around to review....

I think the Dr is away on call :)
The floor is open. Fire away someone.

Always ready to oblige. Another question in the common link track.

In the context of recent films, what is the common link between Wellesley, Massachusetts and Boston (also MA of course)?

Is is Julia Roberts? Mona Lisa Smile (Wellesley), Mystic Pizza (MA), ??? (Boston)

I got the Mona Lisa Smile bit, and a recent Boston-set film would be Mystic River - oh, you just told us that.

That would be Marcia Gay Harden then.
