Be honest. Did you watch any of the MSNBC coverage of the Republican Convention?
Olbermann isn't getting demoted because he's sad bad things about Bush.

No, but I'm not responding to that. I'm responding to generic smears from CFC's resident right wing hacks that Keith Olbermann himself is a hack. It's the same stuff we saw in the fifties. Or at least, those of us with some historical perspective.
Just watch C-Span. You don't have to put up with idiot talking heads -- you want to see what's happening at the convention, C-Span shows you what's happening at the convention. I don't need someone like Chris Matthews to tell me what to think about what I just saw.

The news networks are talk and hot air about talk and hot air. They're a bunch of media figures sitting around and talking about an event meticulously scripted and presented to media figures. Cable political talk shows are just hopelessly narcissistic. It's literally the media talking about how things will play in the media -- i.e., a bunch of millionaires sitting around talking about what they're going to talk about.
It's like watching sports reporters talk about how well a coach answered questions at a post-game press conference instead of just watching the game itself.

I like C-Span. Especially for that. I had two televisions on during the conventions - one parked on C-Span, the other flipping between the Big Three. C-Span is awesome.

C-Span doesn't do commentary, CG. The talk and hot air is coming straight from the politicians themselves, not the FNC/MSNBC/CNN dumbasses. It's usually incredibly boring, and awesome like that.

The real world is a thrilling place. It's filled with legions of interesting people, some you'll hate, some you'll love. Every day there's something that'll just make you laugh your ass off. If you can't extract some pleasure from your day-to-day life, then I truly pity you.

I don't even make most of my own fun, it's just that every day at work something comes up that I can laugh at. Whether we're talking about patients that come in and make us laugh somehow, or which nurse each of us considers the hottest, or the gay porter comes around and cracks a joke, or we're making fun of some doctor, you know whatever. There's always something to laugh at. If you're really so miserable with your job that you can't have some fun with it, consider a career change.
