[MULT] Pitboss Worldbuilding Challenge

Somehow I overlooked that video. It would have helped a lot, but I think I figured it out anyway. Heerlo, as long as you're able to play it without any problems, I think we can say this test is done (and successfully).

EDIT: I should mention, I created the test game with the map sillsworth posted on this forum a little while back, like on page 11 or so.

I love all of you. Welcome kobo, select and tell us your civ (Dev made a Google Doc with all the taken civs around page 8) and hop on in. This is gonna be interesting, I did not expect all 12 slots to be filled. The map may play out more domination-ally-ish now. There'll also be only 24 city states, lowering the power of Venice, Greece, and Siam by some (by the expected 30 before two slots were filled).
Sweet!
I've spoken to a mod, s/he's talking to the higher-ups about the creation of a subforum. If we don't have one by the time this starts, we should have one soon after. Cross our fingers.

I can't use GMR, at least not without backing out of one of the two other games I'm in right now (and I'm a college student, so paying for more games...isn't gonna happen.) Maybe I can get something worked out here.

Is the test game still up? I don't see it on the list. My first choice was Korea but earlier in the thread it was mentioned No DLC so my second choice is Maya.

Then I guess it is done, because I just played mine(without any problems). :)

kobo1d, I've added you to the Google Doc as Maya.

So it seems like GMR would work, except for cpm's objection. Not sure what to do about that.

Okay, I think I can drop one of my current GMR games and pick up this one instead; however, you may have to wait for a little while while a replacement for me is found (it's really not much of a problem; I'd much rather play this game!) Can you hold on starting the game for maybe a day or two?

I don't think waiting a day or two will be much of a problem. It'll probably take at least that long to get everyone to join GMR and sign up for the game. Since this is sillsworth's idea, I guess he'll probably be "hosting" it. Just to let you guys know, I'll be out of town from Friday morning to late Saturday night, but I should have internet access at some point during that time.

Let's do this.

All right, good. I actually have a number of tests I'm going to have to do over the next couple days (yay, college classes started up this week!) so a bit of delay probably isn't going to end up being the worst thing ever.

I got an account. Just say when it's all ready and give instructions when we can join. I just got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, so I'm going to be kind of tired and on sporadically depending on how I feel in the next day or two, but that shouldn't be a huge problem.

Can we plan on starting either tomorrow (Thursday the 16th) or the day after (Friday the 17th)? That'll give me time to drop one of my other GMR game and also clear away a few other things.

V8 Juice and apple sauce are pretty good at helping you get over your wisdom teeth coming out. As is Civ, of course.

I am very excited to start but am trying my best to manage expectations. I am concerned about the long-term viability of managing 12 different players for so many months. How frequently are the turns going to progress? In other words, if someone doesn't take their turn how long until AI takes over for that turn? How many turns does someone need to miss to be dropped completely, if ever?

kobo1d, I think that whoever creates a game gets to choose a turn time limit, and once that time expires I think the AI finishes the turn for that player. And if one player misses 5 turns, they get dropped and replaced with an AI. I think GMR's system will work pretty well, in terms of keeping the game going for those who are active.

About starting the game...once the game is set up, it waits in the lobby, gathering players until the host clicks "Start Game." I think this should be set as a private game or invite only, so random strangers on GMR don't join. But we don't all have to be on at once to start the game. Whoever sets it up will just have to wait until everyone has joined.

I am turning turn timers off, so we can take breaks (usually coordinated with people's vacations schedules). If you do not make a turn within five days, you are kicked. Usually, everyone should make and record one turn per day.
