Multiculturalism at Work In Sweden

I heard it wasn't very good.

Nor is this thread.

Spoiler :
However, I have to strongly approve of the song "teddy bear's picnic" playing in the background.

Oh? I was hearing on the radio yesterday about Latinos in the US. Didn't sound so good.

Is it true you really need to speak Spanish in Miami?

HAHAHAhehehehe what?

I heard it wasn't very good.
I thought it was really good! :)

But then again, I'm biased since I pick up all the smaller details that is probably hard to translate and not intuitively understandable for non-Norwegians.

For instance, the guy who plays the Troll Hunter is a Norwegian comedian who usually portraits and plays "unfriendly" types - he was the Norwegian voice for Manny the mammoth in Ice Age. The guy working for the power company is another famous comedian. And the pointers to Norwegian topics of discussion such as Countryside-policy and power lines are also things foreigners probably won't get.

And of course, we've heard all the stories of the different types of trolls since we were children - it's fun to actually get a story where they pretend that the trolls are real! :D

I've seen the trollhunter. I thought it was very good. Not a classic by any means but if you take the time to watch it, it's worth it ;)

I heard it wasn't very good.

I don't like movies aren't plausible. I *hate * movies that waste my time.

TRROL HUNTER passed my tests.

One of my most relevant tests is "do I think about themes, ideas, or scenes from this movie long after seeing it?"

By this measure, Troll Hunter is among the better movies I've seen in the last 5 or 6 years.

Normally I am against derailing threads by going off topic, but since the movie "troll hunter" is not one of the overdone cliched topics that people go to in every other thread, and also the OP post is a strawman, I whole-heartedly approve. :goodjob:

Clearly I'm playing a devil's advocate here, but maybe, just maybe he was sick and tired of people being robbed instead of helped?

Does this post mean what I think it means?

Wow.

Really? I've never heard of that statistic. Actually, I've never heard any statistic on the Norwegian crime rate since 1950... SSB stat I suppose?

Do you happen to have a link? (Yes, I know I'm lazy... )

Take a look at rape statistics in Scandinavian countries. Real eye openers.

Yeah, it's great that under-reporting of rape is less of a problem in Nordic countries than most other parts of the world.

Without demographics to say who is doing the raping (i.e the native Scandinavians versus the immigrants) that means nothing in itself.

No, seriously, the high rates of sexual assault in official crime statistics in a place like Sweden are almost certainly a reflection of a better legal and judicial situation for rape victims.

It's estimated that in the UK for example, between 70% and 90% of rape goes unreported. If a country has a better legal environment and less stigma against rape victims, and under-reportng is lower, then it's going to show up as having higher statistics in th eofficial records. Doesn't mean that it's more prevalent, though. To draw that conclusion is exactly wrong.

Comparisons based on crime victimisation surveys as opposed to official records show Nordic countries as pretty average within Europe.

Hehe, you guys actually make me want to see it now! My friend who's a movie nut was the one who warned me that it wasn't very good, but I assume it wasn't one of those movies that was meant to be good in the first place.

Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland were extremely safe and stable societies before the massive immigration from the third world countries started 20-30 years ago.

No, not really. Urban gang violence and crime has been a periodically recurring problem since forever; in Oslo, for example, it was particularly bad in the 1930s, 1950s and 1980s. The absolute numbers may be higher now but adjusted for urban population I suspect that wouldn't be the case. Casual violence among the general ("non-criminal") population has been slowly declining over the past many generations, you don't have to go back very far at all to find a time where fistfights were common as dirt and knife fights were barely worth remarking on.

Being an immigrant myself, I have no problem with immigrants. You know the ones that learn the language, assimilate, and give up the whole 'honor killings' silliness...

 You assimilated into a racist culture? Wow, that's hard-core. I didn't know there WAS a racist and pseudo-objectivist country out there, that was bringing in the weak huddled masses and successfully assimilating them into people like you. Amazing!

Or should I credit your parents, molding you from a susceptible youth into the poster you are today?

Oh, the evils of multiculturalism and cultural marxism. Someone should get a gun and do something about it.
