NEVER! >:c

Also:

Derp on my part. 1265 is Coruscant. Ah, how things have gone full circle... Coruscant and Byzantium were archfoes in the first IOT, and now Byzantium is the first jewel in the Coruscanti necklace...

Also, some news that is muy fantastico! I got a 200/200 on my English paper and the teacher wants to use it as an example for future courses. So. To celebrate I have given all player nations a 10% boost to their industry, and have given NGOs some extra espionage tech.

I don't want to see what happens when you get a bad grade on a paper..

-Instant-Riots for everybody, NGO's lose tech.

I have a feeling it would be more like...

-commet hits the planet: all players teleport to another world with only 10% of their power. Said world has mind worms...-

Hey Tani, I just realized: where the hell is Tripolitania?

THERE'S NO NPC THERE. AT ALL.

Unless he means Cyrene, A.K.A. Alameinea?

Screw it I'm not declaring war on anyone, I'm just going to sit on my islands doing nothing.

“Mr. Director.”

“Minister.”

“Are we all assembled?”

“Three are out on assignment, but I believe we can continue the meeting.”

“Very well.” The minister walked into the room and took a vacant seat at the head of the table, likely prepared for him. The director shut the door behind him before crossing around behind to a chair three spots down on the left. “What do we know?”

“The damage to the network is virtually absolute,” began the director, “Almost everything outside our immediate borders is offline, and what little we still control is so decrepit as to be ineffectual.”

“The satellites?”

“They should still have enough onboard fuel to maintain orbit for another eight to twelve years, but without operational relay centres we have no way of controlling them.”

“And with the space program on indefinite suspension, no way of bringing them back down,” he muttered, jotting down a few lines in his notebook. “What do we know about the Coruscantis?”

“Currently, or historically?” asked a man at the far end of the table.

“Whatever’s relevant to our immediate situation.”

“Moved in as soon as Japan broke apart,” he replied. “Most of their power is situated off-world... which tells you all you really need to know about their deployment capabilities.”

“So they could grab those satellites before we blink,” he sighed, rubbing his eyes. “Just perfect. Any more bad news?”

The director hesitated before continuing. “Local militia report unidentified hooligans hit the arcology in northwestern Gansu.”

“How bad?”

“They managed to fight them off before any substantial damage was done to the ecozone, but the superstructure was breached.”

“Imperial insurgents?”

“No idea, but they haven’t ruled out the possibility.”

“Please tell me there’s some good news in all this,” the minister groaned.

Another subordinate spoke up. “Some of the old contacts are still in place, so we have routes into most of our immediate neighbours. They report that some of the ABM bases are still quasi-operational.”

“Define ‘quasi-operational’.”

The man’s face fell. “The buildings are still intact,” he settled.

“So for all intents and purposes, we are to assume the missile shield is also down.” He shook his head slowly. “This has all the necessary ingredients for a global disaster in a very short timespan.”

“We’re not totally on the ropes,” the director spoke up, “Foreign Affairs reports the splinter states have been favourable to us.”

“Probably helps that the Emperor’s been shooting himself in the foot every chance he gets,” another staffer interjected, prompting a low chuckle around the table.

“That might be something,” said the minister. “If we can convince the countries to network whatever’s left of the system back together, we might not have to rebuild this all from scratch.” He made more notes. “Still, I doubt the President will be particularly happy with how much work’s involved.”

The director gave a sidelong grin. “As Our Lady says, ‘Never give up’.”

“Indeed,” he replied, returning the smile. He rose to his feet, followed quickly by the staff. The director ordered some papers which he passed to the minister before both men shook hands. The minister cast a sweeping glance over the room. “I trust you will keep me informed of any further pertinent developments before our next session. Good day.”

Mein bad. Cyrene has been fused with Tripolitania. Must have been an oversight on my part.

UN Votes have been calculated and a list of statutes that are in force has been compiled.

Statutes you need know about:

-INTERPOL now requires UN approval to conduct any searches. Translation: you need to post a resolution asking to be searched. The measure to restrict the UNPC has failed, however.

-The UN now has a policy of closing straits to known terror states, as fully detailed in Sonereal's resolution. However, terror groups still need to be defined before the resolution can take effect.

Chancellor Antilles stood in her office, overlooking Niihamashi (New Port City) while looking over the month's reports. Soon, her Foreign Affairs secretary enters the room.

"I can see you've been overhearing the situation in mainland China."

Hanna turns to face the Foreign Affairs secretary "Yes, It seems that the Chinese Empire can't help but shoot themselves in the foot. It's like their leader is a walking international incident waiting to happen." She then turns to her computer "Already, war has flared up in Australia between Oz and the Formaters."

"Not even one month we set foot on this planet, already fireworks are flaring. But at least we have friendly neighbors."

Hanna then looks at the Foreign Affairs secretary "We shouldn't get too ambitious with our diplomacy. We don't want people to think were barging in with all smiles thinking we own the place. I don't want to give the wrong impression to the nations of Earth."

Before the Foreign Affairs secretary had a moment to speak, one of her chief engineers came into the office, "Ms. Chancellor, I'm here to present my update on the construction efforts."

"Go on"

The Chief Engineer pulls out his data pad and bring up the data relating to rebuilding Japan "As you can see Chancellor, our engineers are busy at work rebuilding the main industrial infrastructure and road networks around the old city of Tokyo."

"How long till the city is completely rebuilt?"

"I'd estimate roughly about a year for the major industrial centers'

"Good, with the recent strings of saber rattlings going on. We may need the industrial capability to produce arms to defend ourselves and our allies, should the time come." Hanna then dismisses her Chief Engineer.

"About the world situation" The Foreign Affairs secretary asks "How should we handle, not presenting ourselves that were... ...colonizers?"

Hanna pauses for a moment "I've had that thought the moment the dust settled on Earth after the catyclism of the last cycle. We still have to go along with political realism and not expect everyone to great us with open arms. There will be some people skeptical about us and our intentions. If it weren't for the Asari Republics contacting us and enlighten our Diplomatic Corps, we would still be an isolationist space-age Thalassocracy and never gave Earth a second chance."

"We would still think this planet is just an antique planet collecting space dust with people fighting over it"

"Exactly" Hanna then continues on "A War of Earthly Aggression is something I want to avoid, what I want my successors to avoid."

"I understand ma'dam Chancellor"

Hanna gets up from her chair "I'd like to arrange a full meeting with my staff at the start of the new year."

Are you turning this to a DYOS?
Just joking, I have recently seen the DYOS wiki and the tropes references to IOT, they are hilarious! And I have discovered all your secrets, good and bad.

If only. DYOS politics is a thousandfold more straightforward than IOT. :undecide:

Formal politics, at least.

...Recent formal politics. :p
