Somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, SSN Kingfisher
The oceans soon filled with crimson. First, it was the Romnesians vs. the Imperium and the Namibias, then it came with the Imperium vs. Netherscots. As the carnage increases, the crew of the Solitudian submarine
Kingfisher were observing the entirety of the war unfold on the surface. Ensuring that the war does not spread to North America. The
Kingfisher left the port of New London just few weeks prior to the unfolding of the war between Netherscots and the Imperium and has been paroling the waters off the coast of Nova Scotia ever since.
"So, it finally happened." Cmd James stated as he pears through his binoculars ontop of the conning tower of
Kingfisher "The war that started in West Africa has now spread to the heart of the Imperium. So far we've been keeping ourselves Neutral while keeping a watchful eye on the events that unfolds before us." The commander puts down his binoculars and turns to his executive officer "For now, it's the task of the submarine force to ensure that our commercial fleet and surface vessels aren't harassed."
"Well" said Lt. Cmd Harrison "It's best that the Republic has a prudent attitude in these developments. Considering the volatility of the situation."
"True, given that the Imperium navy is being chipped away one by one. We may find ourselves the only strong naval force in the Atlantic." Cmd James then looks towards the eastern horizon of the Atlantic Ocean "We must proceed in our patrols."
Both Harrison and James climbed back into the
Kingfisher. Moments later, the sub submerged into the sea heading towards the east. The patrol remained uneventful so far as the sub sailed past Island as the
Kingfisher changes it's course to head towards the equator. As they approach West Africa, near Romnesia, the
Kingfisher detected pings of a line of ships. The sonar man flagged down Cmd, James and showed him the readouts.
"Hmm, a blockade line. Presumably, Romnesian Naval vessels." James then turned to the helmsmen "head to periscope depth." The
Kingfisher surfaced up to periscope depth "up periscope". Cmd. James looked through the periscope optics and scanned the composition of the blockading fleet "It's not just the Romnesian fleet."
"What do you mean?" Lt. Cmd Harrison asked.
"The blockading fleet consist of Spammer and Netherscot vessels along with the fledgling Romnesian Navy. Likely enforcing their earlier anti-colonial blockade line."
"Wait, how can the Spammers send their ships to help Romnesia?"
"The Spammers are not all totally cut off from the Atlantic, they still have access via the Persian Gulf."
The
Kingfisher continued to monitor the blockade, ensuring no Solitudian Merchant Marine ships are harassed as the surface warships of Solitude remain at a distance in international waters. The forward torpedo room was at the ready at a moments notice in the event the merchant fleet was harassed. Commander James was likely thinking that the commodore of the escort fleet was thinking the same. Hours later, the Solitudian merchant fleet returned back to the escort fleet with no incident. The crew aboard the
Kingfisher breathed a sigh of relief and made preparations to return back to their home port, silently escorting the Solitudian Merchant Fleet at a distance.
