Haka chants in space
Can't wait to hear the theme across all eras.
I wanted to hear the Atomic version in the livestream, and I got it. I'm happy, because it's increddibly beautiful
I don't mind the music as such but it's not my favorite. While I like that the haka is part of the Maori music at large, I think the transition from the song to the haka and back was clumsy, as is the use of instrumentation alongside the haka (trumpets I think). The Cree theme was better accompanied.
Civ5 VP is still the best civ experience to me in terms of gameplay but Civ6 has been a sensational masterpiece. My eyes and ears love this game lol
Well if we get Phoenicia I'll probably switch over completely
O Canada is one of the pieces used for the Canada theme.
Canada has many better songs to use, such as Un Canadien Errant and the Maple Leaf Forever.
Using a current national anthem is just lazy (I would not be surprised if Du Gamla, Du Fria were to be used for Sweden again (and yes, that's Sweden's current national anthem)).
I wonder who composed it, Geoff Knorr or Roland Rizzo?
Whoever chose O Canada really needs to brush up on Canadian music, because there's so many excellent choices, many of which are better suited for Civ VI than O Canada.
Good thing the United States uses Hard Times Come Again No More instead of the Star-Spangled Banner. Imagine listening to the Star-Spangled Banner during the First Look videos for every vanilla civ (such as listening to the Star-Spangled Banner when Gilgamesh is introduced; Oh, can we see by Gilgamesh's eyes...)! That would be very jarring, even if the rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner were extremely well orchestrated.
In all honesty, how they composed Du gamla, du fria in Civ 5 was excellent. If they are sticking with it for this expansion they have a tough act to follow. And Geoff's the composer for both themes.
You know it has been a week and I am still playing the Maori theme
Canada First Listen
Here's a YouTube link to the First Listen:
The early eras are great. The morphing into the national anthem for the later eras I'm not personally a fan of.
Can any Canadians identify the earlier songs? It doesn't sound like O Canada.
Sounds like an Acadian/Quebec folk song to me, but I don't know which one.
Sounds good to me.
I have a feeling they'll have an ancient and medieval arrangements for the national anthem since most of these first listens only show us a portion of the theme.
Looks like I'll have to ask Geoff Knorr, though I'm not sure he'll answer before GS' release.
@TPangolin said it's "Vive la Canadienne"
