My immediate UI wishlist

If people don't like color coding the settlement cap, maybe instead, there could be a red fist next to the settlement cap if you have at least one city in revolt. This way you are not drawing attention to being over the settlement cap since it is a soft cap that may not be bad per se but there is a warning icon to let the player know that cities are in revolt which is a bad thing.

I'd suggest the colour coding to be more neutral. So grey if below or at the city limit, then yellow or orange if above. So not RED WARNING, but more a light amber safe on the eyes.

By the way, it provides negative happiness so it should provide some visual indicator to new players that it's debuffing their empire :)

My instinct would be to have the city cap be a pale blue when below, white when matched, and amber when exceeded, then modified by a red glow or unhappiness icon when the unhappiness from exceeding the cap begins to cause issues. This is somewhat inspired by the 'Market Price' coloring from Victoria 3, where highs and lows aren't strictly good or bad, but do need to be considered.

* We should be able to have the building tooltip when mouseover it in the building breakdown list (list of already built stuff). I can't see a way to know what an already built building does.
* City details should open automatically without having to do extra clicks.
* Would be great if I could get the yield breakdown of a city by overing or clicking directly on the top left yield icon of the city screen without having to do: city details > yields breakdown > click yield
* I should be able to toggle terrain yield on or off (Y shortcut) while in the city screen
* City screen should display how much hammers things cost.
* Why is everything so damn big

Game loading screen should display the Civ ability and Leader ability in addition to the Civ units and improvement/buildings.

Also, there should be many more links in the Civilopedia. If there's a name of something that has an entry, clicking on it should get you to that entry.

I would argue being under should be flashing red unless you have a settler in production or on the map lol

I'm at 3/4 settlements and building a wonder in my one city. I'd appreciate not having a flashing red notification lol.

UI scaling, first of all. In 4k, it's either too big or too small.

The city banner is very wip, with stuff overlapping all over the place or just floating around (plus the horrible black boxes around numbers).

Absolutely need to have granular UI scaling options. The 4k upscaled UI is way too big. I see settings for it in the AppOptions text files but they don’t seem to do anything. Hopefully that means it’s planned.

I may be dense, but I could not figure out, - for the life of me the breakdowns of the different "incomes" like science. Like I can see the base yields the cap or place produce but not why I am making X science per turn. Is science still based in part on population?

Playing my first Civ on a console after spending few decades on PC Civs. Loving it so far on my first game!

Few first game session thoughts came to my mind:

  • When finishing a civic or a tech, would be great to be able to scroll or browse through the icons that the corresponding discovery unlocked. Or maybe have a direct Civilopedia link to the tech's page? As it's a notification without tooltips, I have to go to the science/civic tree to remind me and see what was being researched
  • One thing I appreciated a lot in Crusader Kings and Stellaris games, was that -the tooltip texts had direct links of relevant key terminology to the corresponding game guide page. Would be great to have more direct interaction with Civilopedia via quick links from the trees and/or tooltips!
  • When scrolling the map with right stick, I keep going back where I was when I try to select things from the map with left stick. Maybe bringing the cursor with the view when scrolling through the map with right stick?
  • Also when scrolling through the map, the tooltip keeps being on top most of the time. This can be disabled with L3, but it isn't indicated anywhere in the main view. Maybe adding a small "L3" icon with some hint that tells the player "hide me here!"
  • Civilopedia search box - how to use it on PS5? With triangle, I open the search bar but how to select any of the results?
The radial menu is great addition on console UIs!

Not sure if it's been said yet, but what's the harm in adding a little bit of color coding to the types of building (food, culture, etc)?

You can absolutely do that and still maintain the greyish, minimalist aesthetic

Unless I've just missed it, there really should be a way to easily see where farms/plantations/etc or mines/quarrys/etc are. I'm not enjoying just sorta guessing how many rural tiles there are and it'd be nice to be able know at a glance.
Similarly, I'm desperate for a city building lens to highlight the various kinds of buildings incl. type (food, gold, science, etc), which are ageless/warehouse/unique buildings, and which are from the previous age and therefore need replacing. Tbh I also just think there's too many different buildings lol, a clearer overview of them would help a lot.

Got it figured out, thanks to @Gedemon !!

1. Civ 7 has a UserOptions config file. It is located at (User) --> AppData --> Local --> Firaxis Games --> Sid Meier's Civilization VII
2. Open up UserOptions
3. Scroll down to ";UIAutoScale 0" , then delete the semicolon upfront and change the 0 to 1
4. This will enable manual UI scaling. So now go to UIGlobalScale, delete the semicolon upfront and change it to a value between 50-400. For 4K, I think 150 or 175 is looking the best so far! The default for Firaxis when enabling autoscaling for 4k is 200.
