Nature Preserve or Evolution?

If evolution is true, won't all species adapt or be replaced? "Only the strong will survive"? It's not like the humans are stealing the water from the marine life. The dam is saving these species, while changing the evolving landscape. Why not let nature take it's course? Screw the mussels, with or without that wildlife area, if water dries up in the north, so be it.

Just became some process occurs "naturally" doesn't mean we should allow it to go ahead, if it will harm us in the future.

I live in ga and we don't have a drought infact a few weeks ago it rained 20 inches in a few days!!!!

What the heck part of Georgia is this?

You did spell it right:goodjob:

I assume the reference is to the Tower of Babel, which is spelled that way.

Just became some process occurs "naturally" doesn't mean we should allow it to go ahead, if it will harm us in the future.

Of course; if we were to do that, we wouldn't use medicine.

What the heck part of Georgia is this?

The only part that has beaches on the ocean (Thats why that city got like 20 inches. A few miles away it rained about 8 inches less and a few minutes from that it rained about 7 inches less than that!)

Life on this planet will one day end, Humans are the only species capable of saving all others species or ensuring their survival in the case of meteorite strike for example.
Meh, even if a meteorite strikes, some will still survive.

You heard it!!! We don't need evolution anymore, animals will evolve according to humanity's need through genetic manipulation.
That is already happening .
We'll see, I have a feeling nature will have the last laugh.

Wiki says the average estimate of total humans alive is around 100 billion, putting us at about 5% of total humans being currently alive.
Hmm, I guess wherever I heard that from was wrong. The 100 billion figure sounds a bit high though.

That depends on the meteorite

95 billion dead humans bodies!!!!

Heaven must be quite crowed... hahaha:lol:
Imagine feeding, housing and entertaining all those souls for eternity

The estimates range from 45 to 125 billion, with "more robust estimates" falling between 90 to 110 billion.

Well, most of those dead humans weren't christian, so it's not heaven that's going to be crowded. ;)

We should and we are replacing evolution. We already determine what species thrive and which dies. (wheat, cows, corn etc..)

And we are beginning to determine which characteristics we want on the surviving species with transgenics (milk, seedless, meat etc..)

We are replacing evolution.

We are not replacing evolution.

Human selection is in many cases replacing natural selection - maybe that's what you mean.

Species still evolve.

Took the words right off of my keyboard! ;)

If species are changing, evolution is still around. We have just undermined natural selection with new selection pressures, and in some cases, not very wisely...

I hereby mock this thread for falling for the naturalistic fallacy.

I did hear about this, but I think you might have it backwards. What the Georgia gov is trying to get done is to reduce the flow of water from the reservoir (link), instead of allowing it to flow downstream into rivers that support rare fish and mussel populations.

Caesar pretty much summed it up, but it all boils down to Georgia (mainly Atlanta) getting water or some fish in Florida, which the Governor is not too happy about.

And as an aside, we (at least my/my family's county) has had watering restrictions for years, so it not like we aren't trying...

Are you saying that there are 90 Billion Humans on Hell??

You are right, my apologies. Evolution by natural selection, is being replaced by Evolution by Human selection.

So, with clonning Evolution is halted, but genetic manipulation is still Evolution. Yeah yeah, Evolution can't be replaced :wallbash:

Shouldn't their be a few trillion?? What happened to the Jews before jesus come? DO they go to hell or heaven? What about the people that were here before the Jews or the Northern Men? Do they go to Hell? What about the greeks the same with the romans?

Today's AJC opinion page has a bit of a conspiracy theory, though, that the water is really going down river to cool Southern Company's coal plant in Alabama... and the whole Federal Endangered Species thing is just a cover. And the rest of the South is okay with that because they resent Atlanta.
