NCSG IV - The Return of the Mummy!

Note: I re-edited my post above with the last 10 turns (T90 - T99)... next!

Coolio :)

So Gilgamesh is to our southeast... darn! That blocker city will be a slow grower but I don't think we have much choice, plus side is it grabs a couple of happy resources.

Its gonna take a while to road up to memphis to connect the stone but the other option, teching sailing, is a bit off our tech path.

Ohh! Noticed something weird when I opened the save, it wouldn't let me go into globe view? Could be a problem on my side?

Got it, can play at some point today, but I am really packed for time this weekend (got my grandsons visiting, heh, they are the cutest little guys!). At worst, I can play my set tonight and post it in the morning.

I noticed I couldn't do that too. Very strange. I hope its not the save. It'll be well annoying if it is!

Sorry about this, but I have to skip. I have had a bunch of stuff come up the past couple days.

Oh, and the global view thing is because we dont know our global position yet.

Okay, No problem I can pick it up from here "Got It". Will play at some point today.

Oh, and the global view thing is because we dont know our global position yet.

Really? I guess I've never really noticed it before :crazyeye:

Just refreshed my memory and loaded up the save.

I'm going to settle site #2 next to get clam & gold, so tech wise I'm going to head for fishing next then make a start on the religious techs to open up the theo bulb. Just to check according to the list Grandad put up earlier we need...

Med
Poly
P.Hood
Mono

... to unlock theo right?

Do you guys think teching sailing to speed up linking stone is a good idea? or just better to road it up? I guess theres not that much of a rush for stone as we don't want to build the Mids before the great spy so I'll avoid sailing for now. Wow, I just had a conversation with myself! :crazyeye:

I suggest Fishing and Sailing next, to get the stone ASAP. I also suggest you stick a Library in front of the Mids for now, and whip into another Worker when you reach the cap.

Sorry I didnt have time to play, things are hectic right now and I just dont know when I will have the time.

Also writing is needed I think. EDIT. Of course I KNOW we were on the verge of popping writing.....

Site 2 is a nice one by me. Get some commerce going there would be my advice.

I think sailing could probably wait till we've made a start on the religious techs. EDIT Or not. Thats alot of road to build in barb country.

Still think we can get the Mids near to completion and then hold till we get the GSpy. No point in waiting to risk losing them.

...I guess theres not that much of a rush for stone as we don't want to build the Mids before the great spy so I'll avoid sailing for now.

I could almost swear you get bonus 'Mids hammers from whip overflow if we have both stone AND Industrious... so the sooner we get stone, the better we are... even if we don't complete the mids til later, we get father along with each whip overflow when we have stone.

Also realize it probably won't kill our chances of pop'ing a spy if we complete the Mids once we are 90% along to the GSpy...

Okay, lots of pictures (as I know grandad loves his pictures!). Played 20 turns, I'm assuming its still okay to play 20 as we havn't had a full rotation yet with both me and Bleys skipping our first sets (Actually I played 21 turns :crazyeye: to get us back to 0). Hope I'm not going over the board on details with this report, it's just I've been waiting what seems like forever since missing the opening set so I'm making the most of it! :D

Anyway, enough waffling!

Inherited turn (99)

GatlingGun whipped the settler this turn so this needs to go into the mids, if were going sailing to connect the stone to thebes our worker at the capital no longer need to build a road for now so I cancel this action in favour of getting the fellow over to memphis pronto. Move the archer @Thebes who was going to escort our worker onto a hill to light the way for our new settler.

Turn 1 (100)

BTW nice overflow Gatling gun

NCSG4_GR101.jpg

So overflow into the mids, settler moves to spot #2.

Turn 2 (101)

Writing in Fishing next.

NCSG4_GR102.jpg

Dial up a library in the capital as suggested by Bleys after all it is kinda his set I'm playing! ;)

Turn 4 (103)

Heliopolis founded, starts on a monument... I mean obelisk.

NCSG4_GR103.jpg

I have to drop the slider to 50% we have 3 gold in the bank

Turn 5 (104)

Worker arrives at Memphis, I know, I know he ran the gauntlet un-escorted but there wasn't any real risk of him getting eaten by a barb. He starts farming a floodplain before sorting out the stone situation.

Turn 6 (105)

Worker @Heliopolis finishes roading and starts to chop out the monument as we need that gold asap.

Our woody2 warrior finds pericles to the Southwest of our horse city, but not close enough to beat us to it, I think.

NCSG4_GR104.jpg

Turn 7 (106)

Memphis builds Archer > Another Archer

Turn 8 (107)

Fishing in... Sailing next (we still have plenty of time for religious techs)

Send our next archer towards russian teritory for a snoop, he has horses  not fair!

NCSG4_GR105.jpg

Turn 12 (111)

Chop completes Obelisk in Helopolis > Workboat, the worker there starts on a cottage while waiting for the border pop.

Turn 13 (112)

Gilgamesh founds a city south of Memphis! hmmm... we need to block this fella soon as possible.

NCSG4_GR106.jpg

Turn 15 (114)

Worker finishes Farming a flood @ Mephis moves on to the stone (12 truns!).

Turn 17 (116)

Find Zara, he's not too close either thankfully.

NCSG4_GR107.jpg

Turn 18 (117)

Whip anger has gone at Thebes and its back to size 5, managed to time the hammers just perfect 89/135, swap as many tiles to hammer as possible for maximum overflow. I'm not normally this much of a bean counter in my games! Don't expect me to be this tight when we have 50 cities :crazyeye:

NCSG4_GR108.jpg

Turn 19 (118)

Whip overflow into worker, due in 4.

NCSG4_GR109.jpg

Just a note, there was a fish in the fog north of thebes near the marble for a possible filler city at some point later in the game.

NCSG4_GR110.jpg

Turn 20 (119)

Sailing in... dial up Meditation next.

Turn 21? (120)

Memphis Archer > Worker (12 turns) Hmmm... I kinda messed up with memphis had to build a worker as It'll grow into unhappiness very soon and still has no decent tiles other than the floodplains and oasis! didn't realise the Stone quarry would take 12 turns!

Found Cyrus near Zara

NCSG4_GR111.jpg

Summary

Our settling plans to the south west are fairly safe I think there is a case of urgency for getting a settler over to stop Gilgamesh expanding into our territory. Should have probably put the overflow form the library into a settler rather than a worker (Blame Bleys it was his idea ;))

The South East

The South West

NCSG4_GR113.jpg

Clam/Gold city should get a border pop in 6 turns the worker there will finish a cottage in 7, need to obviously mine the gold as soon as thats done, not just for the commerce but we need hammers to get the work boat out. probably should have resisted the urge to chop out the monument, But I wanted that gold!!!

There are 28 turns left for the Great Spy, so I think it works out that we can start running 2 priests in Memphis once its down to 24 turns, however Memphis is now building a worker for 12 turns? so I kinda screwed that idea up a little. But once the workers done we can assign the 2 priest.

Plus something really :smoke: I forgot to open borders after writing. :(

Phew and thats that.

:)

I hate playing against Gilgamesh so much... in fact, my personal preference is to kill him before he gets feudalism and becomes too much of a pain to eliminate. Zara is almost as bad, but at least he doesn't seem to be a direct neighbor yet

Sorry that I've held up the game for so long... But I think I need to be dropped from the roster as I'm really busy with class this semester (engineering classes are rough...) and can't handle this SG on top of the others I'm in.
I'll be lurking :)

An ode to schwartz

.... and then the world grow a little smaller and my heart a little colder. I know we had lost a gaint, and angle and brave and true man. But did I weep? No. I drew solace from his life and works and resolved to be better, harder, stronger and too do honour unto his name.
schwartz you will be missed :salute:

Fair play mate. You lucky students. Feel free to chime in whenever you like and jump back in if you want to.

@Groogaroo.

Nice set. I like the colours.

If Krick doesn't get this in 24 I guess this should go out to anyone who can play.

New roster.
Groogaroo - Just Played
schwartz - No longer with us :(
Krick19 - Up now
S.ilver - On deck
grandad1982 - On deck
GatlingGun - On deck
Bleys - On deck

I'm alive! I think I need to check out the save to see what's needed and look for advice.

Sorry to see you go Schwartz :( But I'll see you over at Sch0001 anyways! :)

Krick, the mains things that we need to sort out are getting the Gold online at Heliopolis as soon as the border pops, and switching a couple of priests on at Memphis after the worker is done there. Getting another Settler out might be an idea too.

Tech path at the moment is looking like >Med >Poly >P.hood >Mono to unlock Theocracy for builbing.

Alright, playing 10.

Inher. Turn

Nothing

Turns 121-126

Worker turns/pressing enter

Turn 127
Med. is in, changing to poly.

Turns 128-130

Worker turns. Christianity spreads to us, Cyrus converts to Buddhism.

Sorry bout the lack of pictures, but there wasn't anything too interesting. Oh yeah, I wasn't completely sure how many turns to put into the worker before whipping, so I didn't start one.
