NDNESIV: A New World, A New History

Daradul

Movements and Migrations (Tell me where and why your culture's people are moving, if they are moving at all. Note that this is largely peaceful movements.)

The Daradula culture will spread throughout the mountainous northlands, spreading through valleys and along the high-mountain streams. We will probably also expand southwards into Tralavian territories, along the mighty Garado river, possibly mixing with them.

Hostilities (Tell me where your culture's people are likely to invade and why. Also tell me if there is any other culture that your people will actively attack and why.)

We're unlikely to engage in hostilities unless population pressures push us outwards, in which case the most likely subject of aggression, other than ourselves, would be the Tralavians. In famines, we would look to them as a source of food.

Cultural Devlopments (Tell me how your culture is developing.)

The belief in the importance of eye colour will become established to the point of forming what is essentially a caste system. The largely-percussive musical tradition will be developed further, with elders holding positions of special importance.

As our population grows, herding and perhaps even simple farming in highland valleys might begin to be adopted, if we are exposed to the idea from outside. We will also begin to engage in trade with various other tribes in the mountains, perhaps building up wealth by forming conduits to the south. Given the lack of Tralavian merchantry, we might take up the position which they would have otherwise occupied.

Religion (Tell me what religions your culture is inclined to following or disliking)

We will generally maintain our present and ancestral beliefs, regarding the heartbeat of the world, and all that.

we would look to them as a source of food.

canabalism???

Jorisi (Main states are Yithi, Deros and Sohoi)
-Movements and Migrations (Tell me where and why your culture's people are moving, if they are moving at all. Note that this is largely peaceful movements.)
The Yithi will look Seawards... North, South and East. They have no major rivers so they survive mostly on fish, and are the best seamen of the Jorisi. They will create many southern Colonies, as well as islands.

The Deros will look at the Onysaber as a target for new lands.

The Jorisi will focus on the Hanyi Islands and any migration is toward the North.

-Hostilities (Tell me where your culture's people are likely to invade and why. Also tell me if there is any other culture that your people will actively attack and why.)
Mostly we trade, but all the cultures will often attack each other with mercenaries, although it is accepted that trade will not be disrupted, but that of food can be in seige. The Onysaber will be a magnet for Deros Expansion, who will start forcing them out of towns they capture. Both Jorisi and Yithi will contend with other merchent cultures, destroying capitals that will hurt their trade as time comes.

Jorisi might contend with Sheol, but not the IK, the Yithi fill look south.

-Cultural Devlopments (Tell me how your culture is developing.)
Innovation is highly praised in our culture, so any new invention is shared with all, unless military or religious, then it is guarded from envy.

Nations will start to look outside borders to insert puppet governments, send settlers and explorers, and pounce on oppertunities.

Rise of Colonial City states.

-Religion (Tell me what religions your culture is inclined to following)
Same, but Aikaria will start expanding to folklore, and wargods are started to be worshiped to help family caught in war, as is ancesters for wisdom. Also, a mixture of a Horse of the spirites, the Fish of the sea, the Eagle of speed and the Turtle of Patience where also whorshipped as symbols of the gods, sometimes showing dragon-like ornaments.

EDIT: Also, I'll wait to turn in orders until I'm approved.

To be honest, I had borrowed idea's from a civilization that isn't located right near mine. While I did try and borrow from one near where I was after I realized I was reading the color codes wrong, I'm not sure it'll be "real" enough. I'd rather not redo this tonight, I just thought I'd get this up while I could. If you want me to redo it, or change my location, I can.
Spoiler Jietsaari :
Jietsaari
Location: The bottom right corner of the map, on the left side of the right sea.

Society: The Jietsaari are a people steeped in tradition and ancestry, which has helped lead to a caste system within the individual clans. Family’s banded together years ago when innovation such as agriculture came about. These clans don’t have any real sense unity of their society, but their similarities are unquestionable. The clans(Aari) are ruled over by a king, who’s ancestry is said to trace back to a great conqueror, and a High Priestess, seen as a co-ruler. The King holds absolute power because he is related to the ancient conqueror, and the High Priestess because she is related to his half sister. The caste system goes as follows: Jiet's-Mainly the ruling family, with some prominent scholars in there; Orim's-The Priestesses who commune with their people's gods; Umpatid's- The working class of society, from artisans to merchants, and soldiers to scholars; Kit's- Basically slaves, while the majority of this class is made up of slaves, some members are simply families or people who can't survive without taking on the work of a common slave. The military is an occupation shared by all men of the clan, who are all taught the ways of war. Certain few are trained specially to protect the King and Priestess, the Nariets; they have no job but that.

Lineage: Traced through father, with the exception of the priestess’s and position within the caste system. Jiet’s, direct descendants of the great conqueror; Orim’s, direct descendants of the conquerors half sister; Umpatid’s, related to a distant relative of the conqueror; Kit’s, foreigners and/or have no relation to the conqueror.

Values: Authority, Intellect, Ancestry

Religion: The Jietsaari believe in a world much like their own which is inhabited, and ruled by gods called Fivards. The King Fivard, Jiortos, became intangled in a war with his evil brother, Kititik. When the war became too much for the Fivard’s realm to handle, Jiortos sealed Kititik within an eternal prison, the planet. He then created the great conqueror to watch over the planet to tame certain humans, the spawn of Kititik’s power seeping through the prison, and destroy others. Jiortos created all things along with his other lesser Fivards, and they rule over the Humans souls that have found their way to the Fivard realm. If a soul cannot get to the Fivard realm, it is either recycled into a new body, or devoured by Kititik. Sacrifice is common so as to have Jiortos continue keeping Kititik in his prison. [Expanded later in Story]

Language: The Jietsaari have a language that is primarily spoken, with an alphabet that is reserved for scholars, priestess’s, and the ruling family. Laws are normally based on the opinions of the King and the High Priestess at the time they are required; there is no law for what happens if you kill someone, but the case is presented before the King and High Priestess at which time they determine the punishment based on the circumstances.

Mythos: The Jietsaari believe they are descended in some way from the great conqueror. He conquered all the lands, and all the people, destroyed those he saw as unworthy, and took all those he deemed worthy into his kingdom. When he died the peace he created on the planet was disrupted, his kingdom broke up, and Kititik’s power once again created more unworthy people. The clans now exist not knowing who are the true descendants of the great conquerors kingdom, often fighting themselves when it thought needed, while fighting others.

Economic Base: Bartering, based on the trading between the coastal nations seas and the rare jewels found deeper in the desert and mountains.

Nation names: Qwatuum, Kwator, Kateer, Qwamtuu, Qwamaik, Jirossos

Person Names: The Great Conqueror(m), Girak(m), Fortika(m), Lortos(f), Orhamasihk(f), Qwa(m), Reegal(f), Parti(m), Waquill(m).

Anything else: Clans adapt to their environment. Coastal clans lives are based on trading and sea tech, while desert clans are based on survival, ect.

Approved, although you don't really need to send in orders since your template kind of acts like your orders.

I just need Tokatya orders and I'll be all set to go.

Especially considering that he hasn't checked in since Friday, has only posted once since May, and has eight posts in total...

I'm not the only one who believes you should start without him. Start with me, I pretty much wrote you an update.

I'm not the only one who believes you should start without him. Start with me, I pretty much wrote you an update.

You also get really detailed with countries and expected that many countries from the first update to survive :p You're lucky I don't start whipping meteors around or something ;)

But yeah, I've already started messing with the map. Hopefully I can get the update up this weekend. I'll probably tinker with the IT ruleset a little too. People have been demanding army doctrines, which I plan on perhaps using ;) Formulas for income are also going to be used (thanks Masada!)

And yeah, I'll probably start with the south and work my way up so that Chatraha has enough time.

Movements and Migrations: We will begin a slow and methodical migration to the north and west following the river. It will be incremental, and generally motivated by a search for new resources.

Hostilities: Generally none, although we are very ready to defend ourselves at the slightest scent of an attack. The priests advise the people to avoid other peoples.

Cultural Developments: The priests begin to sense the cultural encroachment of the Pahrtan culture, and conduct a campaign to strengthen Tokatyan identity by sponsoring building projects with temple offerings and increasing their own output of literature. The craftsmen begin establishing guilds and experimenting with different smelting mixtures and techniques. As the Tokatya move further north and west, hunting becomes more important, and archery becomes a prized and sought-after skill.

Religion: Confronted with the Pahrtan influence on some of the Tokatyan cities in the east, a myth begins to form that takes into account the importance placed on the sun and moon in that culture. It is circulated that the sun is the palace of Atyal and the moon is the palace of Udora. The Tokatyan priests begin writing much more than in the past, and in the common script. Most of their literature are moral tales about the Iltoke. A cult devoted to the fire god Naris springs up amongst a few of the craft guilds.

Ancient Spiich rune work - modern archeologists are still trying to document where exactly these tablets come from, and what their purposes were.

tablets.png

Yes, I make these myself btw.

Modern Tralavian archaeologists assume that the Spiich tablets contain recipes for various meat stews, possibly some of the most delicious lost treasures of the ancient world.

(beautiful work, by the way)

Thanks a lot Bil.
Just noted that I made a big duh mistake. But I'll be fine though. Won't change it as of now, at least.

Forgot what year we were in? :p

Well, I'm only assuming (safely) they'll still be around after they conquer the Daradul and turn them into, more or less, cattle for the next few thousand years. Naturally, the Tralavians will become quite good at cooking human flesh and actually end up becoming very famous for their cuisine. They'll scour old relics for ancient recipes, because they want to see if there are any old recipes for cooking Daradul that they might have forgotten, because they're always in need of a new way to cook a person. Seems like a reasonable and realistic assumption of the future to me.

THIS ISN'T THE UPDATE

Alright, listen guys. I'm going over to a friends house this weekend most likely, plus I'm going to have family over. I've pretty much finished the map already. All that's left is the actual writing portion of the update. I will begin some of that maybe today, or more likely tommorow. Since I'm going to be fairly busy with school, friends, and family this weekend, it is highly unlikely that I will be able to update this weekend. I'm going to aim for about next Thursday or Friday. But who knows? I might get it done earlier or something.

Despite what I indicate on other channels, updates from you are always worth the wait Ninja...as long as my war machine is built without a flaw.;)
