Update III : Seeds of Antagonism
THE GREAT JOURNEY TO TLACOLOTL:
And so, the nations of China nd France came to the port city of Tlacolotl. They brought with them some small presents as tribute in Return. They were welcomed and feed some strange but good tasting food. Then they took a small ship that took them all the way to the first waterfall. Here they left and got into some sleipnir horses that took them up. They passed through the southern of the three Silver Citadels. These were huge, a rough estimate by the travelers said that each Citadel was manned by at least 100,000 men. The walls were 50 meters high and 4 meters wide. The walls made of solid rock. As they passed through they reached the Tlacolotl capital. It was not larger than London, Rome or Madrid from the old world, but the city was greater than anything seen before.Temples rose higher than the cathedrals from the old world. The Markets were large and full of strange exotic goods. At the center of the City stod the Jade Palace. This had to be the largest and most grand piece of architecture in the old and new world!. So large and magnificent it was that the palace had seven waterfalls on its garden and several examples of large wildlife. At the center of the palace stood yet another Palace. This was the recidency of the Empress. The walls were retouched with gold and Jade.
The diplomatic parties then were stoped and carefully checked for anything that could be used as a weapon. As this happened they saw from far away a tall man, he was evidently a high ranking. His clothes were black, but covered by something red. The traveleres asked about the individual and found out that his name was Chirone, General and head priest. Second in command after the empress herself.
The travelers then were taken further inside. In front of them were two large doors. They were told that they could not walk anywhere closer than twenty meters from the empress. That several elite archers would be aiming at them and would not think twice to fire if they came in a smaller proximity. They couldnt look at the empress directly to the eyes. If she bowed, they had to bow lower. And that they could not talk unless talked to first. After they were told these rules, the doors opened.
They entered, the room was large and covered with flowers. hidden to the sides were the archers, aiming and ready just in case the empress came to danger. The Empress was surprisingly young, she looked in her twenties and beuty had not been exagerated. She wore a large robe made of Hernician feathers, which made her glow in a mysthical way. She bowed and the diplomatic party bowed as told.
She spoke perfectly the languages of the present visitors. They were curious (specially the Chinese ones), and asked about this gift of her. She explained that she had lived for 7 years in the Island of Philo and she had been tutored by the worlds greatest minds. Before the curious chinese asked more questions she stood up. She said thanks for them by comming to her throne. She saw their small pathetic presents, but in good will she gave them 3,000 gold to each present nation and a diplomatic message to take back home.
From Tlacolotl Empire:
To : China and France
Here is 3,000 gold in return for you willness to show respect to the Empress. The empire will now remain mostly isolated from all the small exiled nations. The Empress wishes greatness to all, and that she will remain neutral to any affairs, unless her empire was threatened.
Altough the empire was to remain completely neutral, they would sometimes offer to buy goods produced by any of the smaller nations.
NEW ARRIVALS:
New nations were discovered and communications were started with an additional 3 nations that were not known before. One of them was from India, another was composed by polish survivors and the last one was formed by Jews. They were denied to exile by several antigonistic governments, specialy of spain and italy. Left alone they gathered together and built their own fleet. Upon arrival they called their new homeland Israel, the first Jewish nation since the dispora.
THE ASPIDOCHELONE:
The french explorers and settlers landed in the strangely shaped island, the one that seemed to be a perfect circle. Upon landing the saw the strange landscape. the floor was hard like a rock, and not sandy at all. After landing they set up a fire, but as this happened a terrible earhquake started. All of the sudden a gigantic head came out from one of the sides. Followed by four legs. Turns out the island was some sort of giant turtle!. The Aspidochelone then sank into the water and started moving. The French quickly ran to their ships. And headed to the strongholds they had in the new world. Altough were not as succesful as they wanted to be due to this setback.
In Rome and Athens, the beasts are being stoped from eating the cattle, in Athens a Manticore was captured alive.
THE BEST OF TIMES
Nations expanded quickly, new tows were built, new farms gave fruit, new ranches grew. Roads connected cities and even empires. NOTE: some of you were only putting 1000 men into farming, when you had like 60,000 something unemployment. So the population you put into cities were also turned into farmers. So you can actually feed some of your population. From the next udpate people will begin to starve to death if you dont have enough to feed them with.
Armies also grew and developed (NOTE: you can have the men for your army, but you cant give them weapons until you produce them, so you arm your soldiers until the weapons apear in the stockpile, unless you are giving them basic spears and the army is not too large)
THE WORST OF TIMES
As empires expanded, troubles came, competition for fertile delta/river land arrived. nations rushed for the resources of mountains and islands. It was just a matter of time until war broke out.
WAR: The first to meet, the first to fight
The French set out expansion to the bottleneck of mountains north of New China, this was seen by everyone as an attempt to cave in the chinese on expansion. But as the French sent most of their army to defend against possilble japanese attack, the Chinese sent their army to crush the small settlment.
Some chinese officers were unsure, but the orders from the emperor were clear, take the land, even if populated by others and use force if necessary. They continued on their orders and a few hundred woman and children died. The colony was over ran and a new city was stablished. News of the massacre arrived at New Paris two weeks later, when the chinese had finished yet another city to their south.... The era of international brotherhood was over.
POPE, POPE, POPE:
The Questions of who the real Pope continue to grow among the population, if one is not left to be the sole Pope, the church might divide.
