Massive Changes planned for Mexico: Government
President Sanchez today announced some sweeping changes and improvments that have or are curently taking place within Mexico. We have already seen the corruption that this President has uncovered barely a year into his term, and the corruption was mighty. As President Sanchez said, "With these sums of money being pocketed by these corrupt Politicians, its a wonder the Government worked at all!" An estimated 30% of the Government's income used to be squandered by corrupt politicians, amazingly enough, this number has dropped to a mere 5%, which means that this new Government is finding itself flush with extra money. Already there have been clamours by the people for justice for those corrupt politicians, and for lower taxes, and a better standard of living. The Government has been working over-time on spending this money, and formulating a plan, but it cannot come fast enough for the people.
Major Corruption Ring Busted
The Mexican Authorities have stated yesterday that they have uncovered one of the largest ever corruption rings in Mexican History, and certainly one of the largest in the world. This ring was huge, and involved the laundering of hundreds of millions of pesos. It involved the former President, most of his Cabinet, Several Supreme Court Justices, and border officials, and that is just the beginning. The Mexican Police have uncovered bank accounts containing roughly 20% of the Government's income in a year, which is an astonished amount of pesos. The former President, and most of the members of the former Government have been arrested, and trials are expected to begin soon. Other, smaller corruptions rings have also been uncovered, and Mexican citizens, long since the people paying for this massive corruption, are relieved at those officials who demanded a bribe for everything are being caught, and put out of work. Corruption is still in the country, but it is being brought down to tolerable levels.
President announces the "Internal Improvement Agency"
Today, the President has announced a program that Mexico has needed for a long time, the Internal Improvements Agency. This new Government Agency would have the job of "improving the country" in the words of President Sanchez. The President has instructed the Minister in charge of this Agency, former Engineer Huervo Ricardo, to "fix this nation from coast to coast. I want the IIA, taking whatever times it takes, but doing so in a relatively expeditious manner, to repair Mexico's Infrastructure, our roads, bridges, transportation networks, build new ones where appropriate, improve our Public Tranist systems, make our Healthcare and Education systems work better, and be properly funded, build new Schools, work with the Minister of Social Services to raise the standard of living in Mexico, cut taxes, if the Government can afford it, look at expanding our military. There is so much, so much that needs to be done in Mexico, so much that I have promised Mexicans that I would do, and i will accompliosh all of that, working with my Cabinet and Mexicans, to make Mexico a much, much better place." Some analysts are saying that what the President is proposing will be costly, and will bankrupt Mexico, but most are saying that what the President wants to do should have been done long ago, and this President looks like he knows what he is doing.
Editorial - And this is just his first year in Office . . .
I must be frank with you. I was beginning to lose faith in this country. I travel to work on roads that have not been paved in years, heck, most roads are dirt or gravel in this country. Electricity, water, all the essentials of life, are, well, old. Mexico is a country taht looked, and felt old, used, and in need of major change. And that just got worse through the years. Until now. Everyone knew that massive corruption was taking place everywhere, just nobody could stop it. I often wondered what the previous President was doing, and well, now we know! I hope he rots in jail for a long time. But Sanchez is just what Mexico needed. I still don't like some of his Social policies, I believe Mexico should have Government control over more things, and this new president seems fairly capitalist, but, if it will get our economy going, then I am more then happy to give him a chance. He has also shown prudence on Foreign Issues. The Quebec issue is threatening to explode into war that could easily turn Nuclear. That would have a devastating impact upon the USA, which would impact Mexico in turn. Sanchez has done the right thing, appealing for calm. It is a pity that Mexico has such a pathetic military, otherwise, we could offer to send in troops. Ahh, well. On a closing note, I think Sanchez is on the right track, but he must not promise too much to Mexico. From the sounds of things, he might try to do too much in 5 years. He needs to make sure that he can get things finished. Mexico should not be a Construction Zone for too long.

Government claims IIA a complete success - thus far
Well, it has been a couple months since the IIA was officially announced. Soon after our last publication on the matter, it passed the Mexican Parliament by a large majority, although not as large as expected. As we shall explain later, Communist and Fascist Parties are opposing the government, and their very ambitious plans. But first, an update on the IIA. Since it was officially started, the IIA has employed Engineers and Surveyors to go around Mexico, working with the Federal Ministeries, to calculate the cost of President Sanchez's plans, and determine exactly what needs to be done. That finished a couple weeks ago, and, while the Government has yet to officially release what they are planning to do, MNN's inside sources say that major, major plans are in the works for Mexico, spending billions of pesos to start major projects to fix everything from Mexico's ailing infrastructure, overburded Education and Hospital systems, abysmal Standard of Living, among other things. Construction and Engineering companies are already lining up for major contracts that could go into the millions of pesos. Foreign Companies may also be allowed to bid, and many analysts are speculating that Mexico will hire many US firms to win some goodwill with our Northern Neighbours. The Government also is expected to start remaking and modernizing the Laws of Mexico, and some changes to Mexico's Judicial and Legal system might well be forthcoming.
Aboriginals clamour for more attention
Mexico's Amerindian Aboriginal people are clamouring for this new Government to institute some major changes to reverse the fortunes for Mexico's Amerindian people, who have long been in a vicious cycle of poverty and homlessness, have long be neglected by the Government. Says Juan Obregon, an Aboriginal leader, "We make up about 30% of the population of Mexico, it is time that we see this new Government, which is promising to do so much, help Aboriginals as well as Mexicans. We have suffered more then anything else. I am hopeful that Sanchez will help us, but he must makes thing better for us!". President Sanchez has promised that "the IIA will help all Mexicans, including the Aboriginals and poor. The IIA will make Mexico a better place for ALL Mexicans, better for now and for all time!". Sanchez's government has yet to promise anything specifiic for the Aboriginals, which is distressing for some of them, who fear they they will once again be left in the dark from the Government. Sachez has yet to promise anything specific for these people, but his general promises to make life better for all Mexicans is slightly reassuring.
Communists, Fascists blast IIA
Mexico's Communist party today, along with the new Fascist Party (Parties are recognized by this paper if they have 5% or more support) have taken turns blasting the Government over what they have done to this nation, calling it an "atrocity", and an obvious "capitalist money-grabbing corrupt excuse" for improving the country. Since the TMD (Traditional Mexico Party, used to be in power) has seen their popularity plummet from around 30% to almost zero as a result of the corruption charges (more to come on that later), the Mexican Reform party is riding high with an amazing 75% support, and the Communists at 15%, the Fascists at 8%, and other parties at about 2%, the only real target for the Fascists and Communists is the Reform party, which has record numbers of support from Mexicans. Nonetheless, the Communists have been saying that the Government should not be considering allowing US companies to participate in the IIA, and that the Government needs to take more control of the nation's Social Services away from the "greedy, capitalist, money-hungry companies that will feed on Mexicans like leeches" if allowed to provide Education and HealthCare services. Sanchez has responded to these allegations by saying that the Mexican economy will do better with Private Companies allowed to run schools and Hospitals, and that he, the Democratically elected leader of Mexico, specifically campaigned on this promise, and he must keep his word to the Mexican people. The Fascists have also been hammering away at the Government, but over a different matter altogether - the Mexican Armed Forces, which, at only 4 divisions, is very low. They argue that Mexico needs to be safe and secure before we can start improving our nation. Our sources in the Government have said that the former Minister of Defense has something to do with the current poor state of Mexico's military, but more on that later. The Government has responded by saying that the Military will be fixed, and more money will be invested in it, but only when Mexico can afford it.
Traditional Mexico Party collapses among Corruption Charges
The TMD has announced a couple days ago that it is disbanding as a party, and will no longer exist. This Right-wing Party has been a major force in Mexican politics for about 30 years, and has been shaken to the core by the Corruption Charges. The former President has apparently plead guilty to all charges against him, in return for a reduced sentence, and is apparently giving Police lots of Information about the corruption rings.Ever since these allegations came out, the TMD has been virtually silent, as it is now apparent that they were all "too shocked to react, and seriously believed that the Government was not being truthful", according to an ex-TMD Official, speaking on condition of anominity. With the demise of the TMD, that leaves the Political Landscape in Mexico vastly changed, with the leftist Reform Party in power, and the far-right Facsists and far-left Communists, no Centrist or Right-wing party in Mexico. This has left a major void which will likely be filled soon enough. More allegations are coming out about Presidents from as far as 15 years ago that were corrupt. The investigation continues.
Former Minister of Defense swindled Military!
The Former Minister of Defense, who served under 3 successive Governments for the TMD, is set to go to the court-room, where he faces charges ranging from curruption to treason to assualt, battery, and rape. Stories are coming out about he mistreatment of his staff, and his secretaries. 2 of his former secretaries have come to police saying that they were raped and beaten for many years under his control, and stories of him using money intended for the Mexican Military on extravagant cruises, and houses and cars are being reported on. The former Minister of Defense is largely responsible, through neglect, to the current poor state of the Mexican Military, with its 4 understaffed, underfunded divisions driving rusty old equipment that should have been replaced long ago. Soldiers predicatably reacted in shock and horror to find out where all those funds had been going. The treason charges stem from the former MoD apparently giving away important Mexican intelligence information in exchange for money. We will be updating you on this historic case as it goes through the courts.
