Yeah, unless you change your government.

Very nice NES so far, I should say - I sure like it how the Comintern is spreading across the world. I take it you are somehow closer to Social Democracy then to Soviet Communism, right?

Okay. No more orders, government changes and stuff. I will post the update tomorrow morning in the Urals, hopefully, which is in 8 hours and 30 minuts from now.

Woot! Yah, this is definitly one of my funnest top 3 nes's, ever.

By Baal (just getting into that "Canaanite" mood), I'm 45 minutes late! Anyway, beginning update.

Update 17 - Year 1918

Global Events:

The world holds its breath, expecting Black Army to strike again... but nothing comes. It seems as if the Black Army is either preparing for a big operation, either decided to rest and lick its wounds.

DC has restored order in Haiti and added it as the 22nd Dominion Colony.

PLA war goes on, as Incans suffer yet another catastrophe leading many to believe in the Emperor's complete incompetence.

(read below)

(-3 PLA divisions, -1 PLA A-Bomb, -20 Incan divisions)

Meanwhile, the first nuclear power station has been completed in Porto Alegre, Brazil (+1 Economy)!

Army of Ulster continues its campaign. Though several cells in Belfast were eliminated after hard fighting, the AoU continues to operate and cause damage.

(-1 Irish division)

Two British ships were accidentally sunk in Irish waters, apparently due to a problem with contact towers.

The Burgundians have launched a massive counteroffensive against the French and the Germans. For some reason, however, the Germans pulled out of the Dijon area to the border. The French, after some minor fighting, decided to retreat. The Burgundians nearly reached the sea when suddenly...

(-1 French division, -1 Occitanian division, -1 Burgundian division)

Operation HellStorm begun! The Germans have dropped an atomic bomb on the concentration of forces counterattacking France. Though the bomber was shot down, it flew long enough to drop the bomb. Nearly 40 Burgundian divisions were destroyed or deserted soon after. Using this moment, the Germans, Occitanians, Italians and French started their offensive - just after the Germans bombed many remaining fortifications and industries with artillery and aircraft. The Burgundians regroupped and tried to fight back, though their fighting spirit was broken. They managed to hold the line against Occitanian conscripts, but the Germans and French have overrun them, limiting Petran's control area to a very small central Burgundian territory. Burgundian air force, or what's left of it, was destroyed during the invasion. Auvergne has disappeared - the rumors state that he either comitted suicide, either continued the resistance. During the offensive, Chieftain Iagogeh was captured and executed for war crimes against the Aztecs and the Sioux.

(-9 German divisions, -14 German air wings, -1 German A-Bomb, -7 French divisions, -16 Occitanian divisions, -3 Occitanian air wings, -5 Italian divisions, -1 Scanian air wing, -47 Burgundian divisions, -19 Burgundian air wings)

Battered by the years of war, the hyperinflation that was left without attention and now the loss of most of the crucial industries, Burgundy's economy collapses (-3 Economy, -1 Culture). The people are starving and tired of the deaths. This seems to be the end for Burgundy. It fought valiantly to the very end, but due to the nuclear weapons and the superior enemy numbers on land and air, Burgundy's days are nearly over.

Finnish troops leave Sweden, and Finnish government has assisted Sweden in getting its economy off the ground.

Mass exchange of nuclear technology happened this year. Germany was perhaps the most active, and though the German scientists did complain about selling their hard work to other nations, the general public was happy as Germany was brought to a whole new level of communist prosperity. Also, rumors spread about a mystirious "Project Aurora". What is it all about is anyone's guess - some think its a stronger nuclear bomb, or perhaps a gigantic ship to beat Madagascar's record. Most people doubt the very existance of this project, ofcourse.

Egyptian advance in Libya has slowed down somewhat. Meanwhile, North Sudan and Arabia too invade Egypt. The Egyptian resistance was more tough then expected, but Cairo and Port Said were secured by the Arabs, while the Egyptian southern reserve/border guard units were routed by the Sudanese.

(-8 Egyptian divisions, -5 Egyptian air wings, -3 Libyan divisions, -2 Arabian divisions, -2 Arabian air wings, -3 North Sudanese divisions, -5 North Sudanese air wings)

Arabia has finished rebuilding the Suez Canal. Already, profits roll in from the renewed shipping (+2 Economy).

India begins on the long path of rebuilding itself. Though the industries are restored, and the Arabian free oil is helping much, the nation is still traumatized and many cities need to be rebuilt.

Korea has announced itself to be a nuclear power, followed closely by Oceania.

The people of the Philippines have calmed down now, apart from a small terrorist group known as the "Felippino Freedom Front".

Oceania has yet another change of government - its a capitalist democracy now... Only this time, the people are bloody tired of it. Western Australia and Java are filled with communist riots. New Zeeland is even worse - it seems likely to have an organized rebellion soon if nothing is done about it. The traditional enemies of the government - the Maoris - are now its only real ally in New Zeeland.

A crisis over the Chinese propaganda that allegedly caused the loss of Oceanian life in Indochina has led to Madagascari and Chinese embassadors being expelled from Oceania. All Madagascari and Chinese ships in Oceania are being boarded and searched for "contraband". Indochina threatens to expel the Oceanian embassador. Oceania also pushed away a potential ally, Korea, so if a war comes, it might be Oceania against the world (then again, Oceania has, apparently, joined the Dual (Quadruple?) Emperiste).

Random Events:

Brazilian propaganda has raised Brazilian sentiments against the PLA to the highest level, and many volunteers join the army (+10 divisions). Those volunteers are determined to do anything to crush the PLA and any other enemies of Brazil.

Turkey's government switch, albeit welcomed amongst the general public, caused a bitter split as nearly all the clergy denounced the new government as "heathen" and a large amount of highly religious people (luckily, they are in minority) rioted (-1 Culture).

Spotlight:

Panamese War Goes On and On.

"We are cornered rats, and will fights as such."
- Attributed to General Thomas Albany. 1917.

The Incan military has barely recovered from the last year's catastrophe, when the Inca himself took command... and made everything even worse. While the Brazilians, using the fact that the PLA did not want to nuke their own civilians, dug in in Panama City (the attempts to reopen the channel faced numerous difficulties - such as the many attempts of often succesful sabotage), the Incan general received orders to "fortify at the border" and to pack his 20 divisions tightly. Luckily, the general realized there must've been some mistake, and did not dig in at the border, but dug in at the frontline instead. Unfortunately, he DID obey the orders to pack his units tightly and "hard to get through".

General Albany already lost all hopes to win at that moment, and he decided to go down with a boom. He knew that the area of the recent advance was radioactive anyway, and had not much to lose. In the secret factory known as Base Armaggedon, a new nuclear bomb was produced and delivered to the frontlines, and was detonated by ten volunteer PLA soldiers during a skirmish. While two divisions worth of men were not hit, they soon deserted - horrified of the destruction. The PLA used this to advance farther still, unhindered. At that point, news spread to the Incan lower classes of the gigantic loss of life, and actual rebellions begun - luckily, most of the Incans did not participate as loyalty to the emperor was a virtue above all others. Incan nobles in several provinces actively begun considering a coup.

The only thing that saved Incan Empire from falling apart was a succesful paratrooper landing in Panama City, where all attacks are repulsed so far. Also, aerial bombardment did destroy several PLA bases and a few former Incan factories that the PLA used to product weaponry. It doesn't seem, however, that they were very active lately, meaning that nuclear bombs - or material for nuclear bombs - were not the only things that were smuggled in there. Naval bombardment did not hit anything more significant then dockyards, and weapon smugglers are yet to be found.

NPC Diplomacy:

*secret*
From: Etehualpa, Incan Governor of Chibchu Province
To: Comintern

The emperor is mad, he will doom our empire! I plan to overthrow him and to establish a constitutional monarchy, but I will need help - arms, funds, anything you can give me. Why do I adress you? I know that there are tensions between the current emperor and your alliance. Meanwhile, I seek not a confrontation with you
*secret*

From: Ireland
To: GB

We deny any responsibility at all due to the tragic loss of your two ships.

From: France
To: Burgundy

Just surrender, will you? Your fight is lost.

From: France
To: PRG

I believe that we should divide Burgundy after the war as per the dominant ethnicity and the wish of the local public.

*secret*
From: New Zeelander Communists
To: Comintern

We've had enough of Oceania's insanity. Would you help us if we rebel?
*secret*

OOC:

Tough luck, Amen. You have a lot of people to blame apart from yourself, though.

Jason, your little secret operation is coming along fine, but no important information was discovered yet. Also, should I create the stats for that force of yours? And when?

Ice Eye, sorry about the fall of Burgundy and all, but a nation can't hold out this long against such odds. You fought valiantly, and if this is of any comfort to you, then I never expected Burgundy to live longer then 6 years when I started this. You can rejoin as another nation, continue to fight to the end, or start a rebellion/resistance group.

Sheep2, and let this be the lesson to everybody. DON'T change governments every turn (and don't mess with communism!).

Everybody, I updated the nation backgrounds for those nations for whom the situation changed in any way. Will you ever forgive me? ;)

To all of you whose nations got screwed in this update - its not my fault! (in most cases)

Eh, out of curiousity, what's that white blob in the middle of Turkey? Or did I miss part of the update?

To World
From China

We announce ourselves as a Nuclear Power, due to the brilliance of the scientists fleeing from the Corrupt Government of Oceania.

Oh, that's just the highly religious people rioting.

From:

Nation Background: Chinese Republic was unexistant after WWI, but now it is back again. Having first gained independance in the Southern China in 1904, it has, after the Chinese Reunification War, regained its northern provinces. The Indian refugees have helped build up a strong education system.

OOC: So China's not considered a world power by most nations? and how much nukes do we get for 1 economy?

Double post...

For one spending point, you get 1 bomb as of now.

For one ECONOMY LEVEL, you get 6 bombs.

Eh...wat is a spending point?

You have 2 "spending points" a turn...meaning you can increase 2 things a turn.

To The World
From Madagascar

Madagascar as well anounces itself as a nuclear power.

Brazil announces to the world that they are THE world economic, military, patriotic, and nuclear power. :satan:

To the Dual empiritiste
from Brazil:
We need to vote on wether we should allow Oceaniana, and also haven't gotten feedback(or maybe had, 3 pages to readup on, kinda went a little fast) on wether to ask Great Britain to join.

From: Dual Emperiste
To: Brazil

We agree on both matters, and want to change the name because that at the very least there is four of us now.

To Panama:
from Brazil:
It doesn't seem especially in the best interest of your people to be nuking your own lands.... Especially when you have to live in them when this conflict is over. Brazil will go no farther then current borders, as long as you stop using nuclear weapons, and stop fighting. We have no problem allowing your nation to become one, but we will maintain control over the panama canal as it was built by us, for us.

We've brought far superior nations to their knees, do not make us make you beg.

However, if you do not stop fighting, this will happen.
4 nuclear bombs will detonate on 4 heavily populated areas, followed by the sun ceasing to shine on panama soil. Your nation will be no more, and we will win. You are far outnumbered, and far outmatched, stop now, and senseless death won't need to happen.

To world:
from Brazil:
It seems as though the black army has been scared into hiding, and they have to hide somewhere. Brazil demands the nation hiding the sadistic killing machine to step forward.

When did those Pakistani rebels suddenly become a nation?

To Brazil
From India
Don't look at us. We're NOT hiding the Black army.

Now, my orders are to spend an economy level to increase:
Education x1
Culture x1
Army x3
Airforce x1

Finish the great project. Now that the oil is flowing freely and the capital is out of the warzone, the nation will have atleast a framework to rebuild itself on.

From: Russia
To: The world

We join the league of nuklear gentlemen.

To: Arabia

Wondefull! The Suez is fine again. I know you haven´t forgetten our little deal right?

OOC: das what about my secret order?

further i think everybody who spend a economic level on india (me) should be noted in the update ;)!

To the World
From Britain
