He moved the lever again, opening the heavy granite door. There it lay. A ruby the size of a pigeon's egg.
With trembling hands Sheguwata grasped it and left, sealing the door behind him. The other rooms would have to wait for later.
Half an hour later the stone was firmly set in his new crown. Twenty minutes after that again, he was waiting breathlessly for the ceremony to begin. Now he would be the official Emperor.
