NES2 II: Age of Discovery

To:Visigothia
From:Alexandrine Empire
Well apparently the Caribean is back in the hands of the pagans. We will stay away from the Caribean but you have to stay away from Africa.

OOC: Fantasmo, you DO notice that there are many more letters in the Papal Mailbox.

IC:

From: Anglia
To: TSA

They did not sign peace yet. They did not agree to leave the followers of the White Christ any land. You did.

From: Baltia
To: Alexandrine Empire

The Ministry of Interrogation is never wrong. The Black Army warriors that were captured were... interrogated separately, and yet they all agreed that it was the Alexandrine Empire. And besides, to whom else is it as convenient?

From: Carib Natives
To: Alexandrine Empire

Hmmm... No.

Thanks for the tasty, fat ambassador though. Send some more of those, and maybe we could reconsider.

From: Lombardia
To: Visgothia

You KNOW that our entire army was fighting the Berbers so far! But fear not, unlike the British we will fight on until the last Tarunist lays dead.

To Turkan:
From Sinhala
King Viyaja will travel to your nation and view the evidence.

OOC: Das, send 'the evidence 'by PM?

To Baluchan:
From Sinhala:
You do realize that if you continue fighting, more of your men will die? How dare you question my authority. End this conflict or Sinhala will step into Bulchan to replace the government. If you are fighting Turkan because they planned to rebel against me, then you would be loyal to me and end the conflict. I will deal with Turkan myself, I do not need you or Manchuria ever to tell me what I have to do.

From: Visgothia
To: Pope

I guess it would be ok in the eyes of our lord that we ... temporary not eleminate the heretics of the TSA?

To: Alexandrine Empire

We will not leave our Berber fortresses! However we will not expand deeper into the Black continent - only if we were pursing the berbers -.

And what about other europeans like Sveroslavians?

Warlord Magomba stood at the top of the hill, with several of his top commanders. The 12th, 17th, 24th, 53rd, 31st, and 5th battalions spread across the valley below like a carpet of tan uniforms. This army of 6,000 men was about to assault the last vestiges of the Bushman army. The Bushmen had again been caught off guard, their main army of almost 8,000 men had been annihilated by the 7th, 19th, 42nd, 44th, and 46th battalions, all veterans of sea-landing attacks, who had landed to the north and caught the Bushmen with their trousers down.
Now, Magomba's forces were prepared to take on the remnants of the main Bushman army who had fled south combined with the last remaining Bushman army of about 5,000 men. Altogether, it was an opposing force of around 5,800 men.
Magomba's army consisted of 2 elite Impi battalions, the 12th and the 17th. Now matter how outdated they were, the Impi were still a valuable force and Shaka had not abandoned them. The rest of the army consisted of 2 swordsman-archer battalions (24th and 53rd) and 2 spearman-archer battalions (31st and 5th). Each of these battalions had about 650 swordsmen/spearmen and 350 archers. In total, this made 1,300 swordsmen, 1,300 spearmen, 1,400 archers, and 2,000 Impi.
Perhaps you are wondering what these new Zulu troops (swordsmen, spearmen, archers) look like. They all wear the same uniform: a loose, long-sleeved tan shirt made from tightly knit grasses, long pants made out of the same materials, with the traditional white fluffy looking things (not sure what they're called) that Zulu warriors wear around their lower legs, except it is sewn into the pants. Although some archers may not, each swordsman/spearman wears a primitive chainmail vest made out of large, often irregular metal rings, although it still protects the torso fairly well. They may wear anything from a headband to a full headress on their head, depending on their rank.
Now for weapons. Zulu swordsmen carry a small round metal-reinforced wooden shield, and a straight medium length sword whose blade tapers down towards the center and up near the top of the blade and tapers back down to the point. The hilt and handle are made of strong wood. The scabbard is nothing but a small strap of leather attached to their belts which the sword can be slid in.
Spearmen carry round shields as well, but they are larger. The spears are about 6.5 to 7 feet in length. Archers carry bows similar to those of the Mongols, and sometimes a small dagger.
Anyway... I've strayed way off topic with my story... but I think you already know the resolution of the battle.

Zulu Orders: Start expanding heavily north. Continue allowing any tribes encountered to join the Empire and move into cities. Encourage agriculture among the people. Have top Zulu wisemen look for better ways to make our weapons work. But mostly expand and build new cities.

Orders:
Spend one economy level on
Navy x4
Education x1 (include teachings about the evil rebels and the glory of our leader :p )
*secret* x1
Spoiler das :
To be spent on character assassination. Kick Iyeyasu out, lower the people's tolerance until they welcome us as liberators. No, I won't have you turning this into Iraq. :p
Continue project.

Load up the troops on the new fleet. Sail around near our south shore, with ground artillery at the ready, until some foggy evening occurs. Charge across the strait and unload our troops. This should get us across without too many intercepted transports.

Story.
At the docks
"Move, move!" cried Quartermaster Hirota frenziedly. The weather forecasters had predicted it would be cloudy for the next week. He didn't trust them much himself, but any fool could see the cloudbank approachin slowly from the great continent in the west. "You there!" he shouted to a pair of lounging peasants who has stopped to gawk. "In the Emperor's name, help us! Take some of those barrels and roll them aboard!"
To optimize loading, the dock that could hold ten ships at once was only loading three at a time. Each ship had three gangplanks mounted - two for loading, one for people coming off.
A trumpet blew down the road. "Devil's entrails! Are the soldiers here already? All right, leave the sacks of rice for last. The soldiers can carry one each aboard. The alternative is to go hungry, tell them that." He rushed off the ship, seized two bales of rope and carried them aboard, impatiently stepping behind a worker rolling a large barrel of sake.

The soldiers were fairly well disciplined and carried their rice aboard, occupying all three gangplanks. Hirota refrained from mentioning this. As soon as they were aboard, the last workers started casting off lines, some swinging over to or from the ship. "Silken Queen loaded and underway, go and tell them that at the office!" he shouted to a messenger, who mounted his horse and galloped towards a large brick building with the traditional pointed roof.
The Ships assembling
Rigging whooshed, timbers creaked and ropes groaned as the Yellow Hand sailed, with its two escort ships behind it, to the appointed rendezvous. Carrying over 400 soldiers, it was a cut above the average ship, but far from one of the largest.
"Any ships in sight?" bellowed the captain.
"Not a darn thing! Lord Henoken was certainly right, this fog will be our best chance to make safe passage, but even a dragon couldn't see the mainland from here!" answered the lookout.

"Hakemiri!" said a man staring into the water excitedly. "Big ones, too!" Hakemiri was a slang term for the large fish in these waters.
"Fishermen to the port rail!" captain Ilinuto ordered. "I want to see atleast three caught in an hour!"

"Ship Ahoy!" came the cry of the lookout. "Ship Ahoy, off the starboard bow!"
The cry was taken up and echoed aboard the escorts. Tension ran high as men checked the cannon loading and opened crates of weapons. Suddenly the fish were forgotten as everyone began to worry.
"Not the Takahari sailors, atleast, may they never achieve nirvana" muttered the lookout to himself, gazing out upon the water where two black shapes had just manifested. As he watched, they seemed to grow, and their sails began to take on shape and whiteness. Then it turned out to be four ships, sailing in pairs. Pairs! That was a friendly characteristic. He hoisted up the large piece of silk striped in blue and green to signal to them. A collective cheer rang out from the deck as the flag's meaning spread.
Moments later, the other ships seemed to be doing the same thing: hoisting the green and blue. At this distance it looked like turquoise, bleached due to the white background.
Then they closed. They were light green. Pursued. "Swing to port, friendly ships under pursuit!" cried the lookout to the steersman.
"What? What pursuit?" answered the captain, indicating for the lookout to bring out the questioning flag. But the other ships were already answering.
"Three armed ships, too high risk!" Once again the message relayed to the escort ships, smaller, with a lower lookout, but more heavily armed.
"I say we swing about to starboard. If there's only three of them, they won't dare to tangle with seven of our ships."
Twelve hours later, in a convoy of nine transporting ships, and another nine serving as escorts... (nine is a lucky number iirc)
All Aboard
"And do you know what the difference is between a mercenary watchman and a guard?" said a jokester between mouthfuls of fried fish and bread.
"One sells watches, the other watches cells."
The crowd laughed. The humor was good aboard the ships. Fog had only thickened during the last days and they were due to arrive tomorrow, landing nineteen mixed battalions.

"Check your armor," muttered General Akagesu loudly. "And your weapons. We're ahead of schedule and we won't have much time tomorrow before the landing. Remember, spare those you see, unless they appear to be Tokugawa's personal soldiers. They'll as soon support Lord Henoken as him, so if we play our cards right we'll be viewed as liberators."
All aboard the ship, soldiers grumbled, lazily crawling off to their quarters to check armor and weapons. No one complained, though. Akagesu was a fair master and had won more than his share of battles during the campaign against the Edo. When he said jump, one didn't only jump out of loyalty, but also because one knew it was for one's benefit.
The next day, morning dawned bright and clear, revealing the coastline of Kagoshima almost as soon as a few soldiers were awake. Nobody spoke, but everyone was thinking the same things.
Are we in the right place? Did the other convoys land? How will we be received?

There we go. Haiku, song and long story, plus detailed invasion plan, and my secret orders. Time for the reunification.

Next round I'll probably focus on the colony in Asia...

lol, your battle orders arent secret. Thank you for telling me what you are going to do. Oh well, you still won ;)

Orders:

Quit this nes. Sorry das, this isn't interesting for me anymore. And I don't think I have the motivation to do anything anymore.

LAST ORDERS:

- Spend an economy level on takahari frigates. Defend kyushu from attack at all costs.
- Give em hell ;)

Declaration of Blockade

By the Order of the Ming Emperor Hong Wu, any foreign vessels attempting to enter the city ruled by the Juang Commune will be sunk with 1 warning to cease it's path. Oops. I mixed up the city with the island.

My battle orders aren't secret. I'm talking about something else with my secret order and spoiler.
And... would I really post my huge invasion in public? Yes, that's secret. ;)

Why would the Alexandrine Empire send the black army to attack you. What benefit would it give us to take your land? Someone is obviously framing the Alexandrine Empire.

You are the aggressor at this time; you are the threat to the Atlantean peoples.

I guess so, unless, you know, the Catholic faith was seriosuly endangered.

Das, show me these letters! I am too lazy to go back and find them, you shall do so instead!

OOC: Fantasmo, I'm not a Catholic and thus am not required to carry out Papal orders. So there!

Cuivienen - some say its North Atlantis and South Atlantis, other say its Atlantis and "Inca" (some reffer to South Atlantis/Inca as to "the Empire").

Yes, when's the update? Nothing much seems to be happening here...

<< insert useless posts so das's great update appears at the top of next page, not the bottom of this one >>
Or am I just looking to get post 1000 myself? Hmm...

I think there is an established pattern by now - all updates come on wedNESday.
