Except during this war, all of France's allies (Germans, Denmark-Norway, England, Japan, Ottomans, EUA, etc.) would've become vastly stronger, and thus, if France began doing that, could band together and eliminate it. The argument therefore makes no sense, and is really quite poor. Plus, Portugal wasn't really an ally, because lets be serious here: Russia doesn't threaten Portugal, and Portugal was already refusing to cooperate in a war against them. Neither was China, nor Russia, nor Spain...

France has been eliminating or trying to eliminate no one but enemies.
from what I recall, augsburgs were her allies -_-

You know, I really do hate it when other players, especially new ones, tell the rest of us that we are stupid and do not know how to play the game and that they can come up with so many different reasons for why we are all wrong and they are the only ones who are right and are so much better than everyone else. Just an observation.

OOC: They would be their own powerful states. You will note, by looking at dis's charts, that virtually all of France's allies were on the verge of Great Power status. In fact, the closest one was Germany. You don't need a single superpower to rally around when you have a bunch of slightly less powerful states.

Oh well though.

I have to concur with that one. Oh well I'll just shut myself up.

Like I said, then you need many countries to turn traitor at once. It just wouldn't happen. Five, six, seven allies of France conspiring together against it and not a single one ratting out? I highly doubt it, particularly since many of France's allies had bones to pick with each other (most notably the Byzantines and Ottomans).

OOC: In terms of raw economic output, even 3-4 great powers could still take on France with a chance of winning, especially if more joined in. It doesn't help France's case that it's really spread out. It could also be an FK situation. In terms of one's own abilities as a country however, it is superior to a cold war type situation where everyone is a pawn of either bloc. Monopolar environments allow far greater autonomy and freedom You can also always wait for the lone superpower to get bogged down elsewhere.

If you're talking to me, I'm not new. Also, given your own propensity to explode, call people all sorts of names and fling insults left and right from a position of perceived self-superiority, only to get banned for misconduct, perhaps you should follow your own advice. We're just discussing the situation from an outside point of view, from which, yes, Germany's decision is kinda quirky. If it's so terribly annoying to you, don't read it.

It's a freakin' game. But if you want to take it so seriously, then whatever. I've neither the desire nor the patience for a flamewar over something so inconsequential, so I'm done talking about it.

Yea, good idea, especially since Storm is overreacting.

Oh, and France "betrayed" you because you invaded ME! Me, being Italy, a nice wealthy little regional power who was essentially tied (and allied) to France. I could not betray them if I wanted to. Still, you invaded me and did not offer to withdraw. So France decided to pwn you so there would be no divisions in her alliance. Makes sense to me. ;)

makes sence, yeah, but I still take that as betrayal. And IC, augsburgs had been frances ally for god knows how long and you were spanish ally back then. But things change, aye?

but anyway, maybe we should create another thread for all this ooc discussion so that the main thread would stay "clean".

edit: dis, russia has 15 ec's.

Your army is routed, your capital under siege with no chance for you to break it. It is time for you to accept reality and sign the document restoring the Kalmar Union. We will permit you to remain as governor of the province of Svealand.

To Denmark-Norway
From Sweden

Your attempts at diplomacy are laughable, I will simply have to work my way through failed PM, until I face one more willing to accept a fair peace.

Leadership (Military/Civilian): Barely Tolerable/Tolerable

Nation Background: The Quechua - subjects of the Sapa-Incas of past - have survived the best of all the Amerind peoples and cultures conquered. Time and again they raised general revolts - the previous one was defeated in 1745. But it was not a complete defeat, the Quechua leaders simply retreated, and as Spain crumbled further and further, one of them, by his birthright, has claimed the title of Sapa-Inca. By then the French, the Portuguese and the Continentalists had already broken the Spanish might, and so the rebirth of the Incan Empire is by now a fact. But there still is much work to do if the glory of the ancient empire is to be revived...

TO: Xin Han
FROM: Empire of Japan

In light of more pressing matters, the Chinese Civil War is of rather diminished concern to us, and we would be willing to sign a ceasefire in lieu of a more permanent settlement.

To: Japan
From: The Hanhua Emperor

Then we agree to a ceasefire with Japan, with the possibility of closer and more formalized relations once things settle down.
