A Statement urging for the Defense of Civilization
Issued June 20th, 1751 Anno Domini

Citizens! France, after showing her benevolence towards the people of Germany, has been betrayed. The Germans, with their barbaric leaders which seem to have no disregard for the European peoples and our glorious civilization, have sought to attack us, and now their armies and made slight advances upon our territory.

However, though they have advanced, does not mean that we shall be defeated. France, still the greatest nation in all the world, can weather this new challange. Yet in order to do so, the support of you, the common man, the foundation upon which our great nation lies, must work actively to defeat these aggressors.

I, as your leader and at the same time, as your servant, call upon you to fufill your duty as a Frenchman, and as a European, and I ask you to join the fight against barbarity, to join the fight against those who would seek to tear down all we have created. It is not only I, it is all of the civilized world that beckons you. We stand at a crossroads, at the deciding moment in the history of our civilization. Either we stand up to these aggressors, and defeat them, or we, as the Romans and the Greeks of the past, bow to these foriegn tyrants, and give up the fruits of our liberty for the shackles of their oppression, so that we might have a chance at surviving.

But far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in that grey twilight that knows no success, nor hardship. Shall we, the founders of the greatest empire the world has ever known, subject ourselves to such a twilight? Shall we allow our children to be enslaved at the expense of our own comfort and cowardness? No! We shall continue the fight, and though we have faced a setback in this most wretched of betrayals, we shall eventually triumph. The Germans, by invading our home, and by invading the protector of all of Europe, have made a grave mistake, a mistake that they shall pay for with their lives and their sovereignty. Germany, due to her betrayal of the free peoples of Europe, has doomed herself to become a mere footnote in our glorious history.

And the same shall be said of Russia!

Believe me, I speak to you with full knowledge of the facts and tell you that nothing is lost for our Kingdom. We, inevitably, shall be brought to that wonderful day of victory. For France is not alone! We are not alone! We have our vast Empire and its boundless industry. We have had, on every step towards this day, and indeed on this day, a vast coalition behind us. A coalition of the noble and of the free. And we shall only continue to have these things, things which shall allow us in the end to overcome our enemies, enemies which rely on terror to raise their forces, forces which shall be swept away by our grognards, rushing to the front to save their dear liberty.

This war is not limited to the unfortunate territory of our country. This war is not finished by the battle of France or the battle of Germany. This war is a world-wide war. All the mistakes, all the delays, all the suffering, do not prevent there to be, in the world, all the necessary means to one day crush our enemies. Vanquished though we were yesterday by a vile betrayal, we will be able, tomorrow, to overcome in the future by our superior determination. This conflict has done nothing to damage our resolve. If anything, it only grows stronger!

The destiny of the world is here. I, your Sovereign King, invite every able-bodied man who wishes or is capable, to put themselves on the front line of our war, and to put themselves at the forefronts of the gates of civilization, to defend their homes, their families, and their glorious motherland against these barbarians. This is a call to arms, a call for every father, mother, or child of our nation to help civilization in some way, and to help us destroy the enemies which crowd at the gates.

Whatever happens, the flame of our great Kingdom must not be extinguished and will not be extinguished. Together, we shall continue the fight!

The supreme battle begins!

After so many conflicts, so much rage and pain, now at last comes the decisive clash, the clash so long hoped for. Of course, it is the battle of France and her Kingdom and it is our battle! It is, most definately, all of Europe's battle.

Massive attacking forces, for us the forces of rescue, have begun to pour from throughout our vast Empire, and to pour from within our vast, proud nation. Here, at this last bastion of Western civilization, the tide of German oppression has been halted. Now it is the starting-point of an offensive for freedom. France, though betrayed by the barbarians, but never reduced or defeated, is on her feet to win this war.

For the children of France, wherever they may be, their simple, sacred duty is to fight with all the means at their disposal. Our task is to destroy the enemy, the enemy that crushes and defiles our native soil, a detested and dishonoured enemy.

That enemy will do his utmost to escape his fate. He will ravage our native land as long as he possibly can. Yet for some time now he has been little more than a wild beast being driven back from his prey. From Sevestapol to our dear home, from the banks of the Nile to Rome and the balkans, he shall soon catch the habit of defeat.

France will fight this battle with fury. She will fight it in good order. So each and every one of our victories has been won for fifteen hundred years. So will this victory be won.

In good order ! For our army, and navy, there is no problem. Never have they been in better spirit, better prepared, better disciplined, or more numerous. Already, in numerous conflicts, has the world witnessed their strength and glory. Soon it will be the turn of their native soil.
For our kingdom which struggles against an aggressor armed to the teeth, good order in the battle requires that two conditions be met.

The first is that the instructions given by me, your King, and by the French leaders whom it has designated for the task must be followed exactly.

The second, and absolute condition is that all those who are capable of action, whether by force of arms, by means of destruction, or of intelligence, or of refusal to submit to this enemy, should not let themselves succumb to these defilers of Europe. Whatever the difficulties, anything is better that to be put out of action without having had a chance to fight. Whatever can be done, especially by you, are soldiers, to ensure our victory, must be done.

The battle of France has begun. Throughout the nation, the Empire and the armed forces there is now only one determination, only one hope shared by all. Behind the cloud, so heavy with our blood and tears, behold ! - the sun of our greatness is shining forth once again !

Badshah Ahmad Shah Bahadur thanks the French Monarch. Indeed the past Mughal Empire and France were indeed allies and worked together to remove the Portoguese threath from the world. Denmark would like to remind Russia that we too were allies and that Russia gave Denmark no aid during the first Scanian War whereas Denmark loyally stood by Russia in the conflict with the Krakowian Union and declared war. Denmark would also like to point out that we stood side by side with Russia during the Constantinople Crisis.
We are saddened that Russia cares about nothing but their own, imperialistic goals.

I really need to remind you of History. The first Scandinavian War was won when Russian troops occupied Stockholm and ended the Swedish reistance, giving the Danes the opportunity to sign the peace treaty that granted them land.

Following that Russia has done nothing but cooperate with Denmark in any way possible until Denmark decided to join France in the outright attack of Russia and her allies.

We fail to see how Denmark can claim that we persue imperialistic goals when the goal we persue is survival and sovereignty of our own country.

The Union of Scandinavia has made no aggressive action against Russia. We have been uniting Scandinavia in order to create a nation strong enough to be taken serious by the powers of the world rather that be treated as a pawn.

In any case, we still call for reason to prevail over violence and for negotiations to be held. If you elect to continue your unlawful war it will be the very people you are trying to aid that you'll be killing. Perhaps you should ask yourself if the forests of Finland and Lapland are worth the lives of so many Russian soldiers.

OOC: Just a few notes... Saying fellow Scandinavians to Finns is an insult and even though I'm watching the situation, I'd prefer for an Independent Finland. However, I won't object for it to become Autonomus province in Scandinavia, should Finland be treated as an equal that is...

Denmark attacked and invaded Russia's ally, Sweden. Russia is going to honor its alliance with Sweden and will continue the military effort against Denmark until such time that Denmark wishes to relinquish its hold of Sweden and to sign a peace treaty with Russia and Sweden.

Btw, silver, are you sure you don't want to rename your country into something like the Dar al-Islam or the Caliphate? IMHO the Greater Islamic Empire - and especially the title of Badshah of the Greater Islam - sound rather strange. Up to you, ofcourse.
