President Armandez makes Historic Speech!
In an address to the united national Congress yesterday, President Armandez bolstered the spirits of many who had grown uncertain of his polices. Large scale spending on the South American war has caused something of a fiscal crisis, and many congressmen, even in the presidents own Liberty party, had expressed concerns over this. However this was washed away by Armandez’s words; it is the position of him and his government that the Portuguese peninsularies are now on the run, with the glorious liberation of Buenos Aires and a string of victories all across the south. Thus while the government remains committed to the liberation of all Spanish speaking territories from colonial powers, the massive spending of the past is now unnecessary and funding can be freed for spending here at home.
The president outlined his “3 Point plan” for restoration of standards of infrastructure and lifestyle that has dropped in the past few years. Firstly; the ensuring that all major cities have adequate sewage systems, Secondly; cheap and subsidised housing in the growing cities of the west coast and industrial areas of central Mexico and Colombia, and thirdly, the establishment of a board of health in every state (funding allotted to the board being up to the state, of course) as well as a national body to coordinate these state boards. With these the President and the nation hopes to drastically reduce disease and squalor throughout the nation. The first stage of this was begun this year, and significant returns are expected by 1754.
The government hopes to build on this plan with a project to extend the benefits of civil government to some of the wilder and more backwards parts of the EUA, with a system of post stops, school teachers, and sheriff stations in the wild north and south. This is the brain-child of Julius Castellum, secretary of the Liberty Party, and the man many expect Armandez to endorse as his successor in the national elections next year. Luiz Timber boasts record share prices on LA’s “Calle de Oro”!
This morning at 8, Luiz Timber began trading shares on the stock exchange in Los Angeles. Each of the ten thousand shares of the initial stock offer was valued at $0.1, but by the time to exchange closed at 5 in the afternoon they had jumped to a record $1.1; netting extraordinary wealth for the company and sharp traders. The obvious cause for this, and the floating of the company itself is massive government contract awarded to the company to provide softwood lumber for the states of El Salvador Cuscatlan and Nicaragua. This contract was awarded after the giant CCC was unable to met demand for materials even though more than doubling its expected output! Raising money for LT’s projected yards near Port Albeani, obviously required turning to the private sector, which was happy to oblige.
This is a success story for more than just Miguel Luiz and his company, but also for the Calle de Oro Stock Exchange as a whole. Founded 3 years ago by a fourteen man cohort of mining magnates to pool funding for prospecting operations, the good returns this created has allowed a steady growth of the organization – literal growth as it now occupies 3 adjacent buildings. With the floating of LT the Exchange saw the first company being listed on its books that isn’t mining orientated. Undoubtedly its rosy times ahead for the exchange, as well as the city that profits from the industries and capital it supports.

The “Tarantula” Strikes another blow against the Portuguese Menace!
Eduardo Sandoval, our man on the ground in the Amazon basin, brings good news from the front! Three weeks ago the soldiers of Fort Sanchez (location undisclosed) where he is based came across a group of Portuguese soldiers. Much to the patrols surprise the Portuguese immediately surrendered, almost trembling in fear! The patrol quickly secured their prisoners then back-tracked the route they had come from – to find a scene of righteous devastation! It was a small Portuguese supply train, obviously on its way to aid the peninsularies menace in one of their concentrations, but it was one that had been burnt completely to the ground, all the enemies killed or fled in disarray. And marked on the burning side of the wagons, and burnt into flesh of the corpses was the black emblem of a spider!
Clearly this is the work of none other but Tarantula Herrera, that mysterious soldier who went missing in action some months ago, but continues to wreak havoc. Although the government has officially condemned his actions throughout the Portuguese lines as “barbaric” and “monstrous”, it is clear to us at the paper that he is man with a mission from god – bloody justice against the vicious Brazilian conquerors. The fact that he has never been caught is an obvious statement of some angel of vengeances protection. To all you foolish Portuguese soldiers we say – “Face the harsh justice of the Tarantulas bite!”
