Claiming Venice.

Thanks for welcoming me guys. Here are my hopeful borders. But it is not working. Any advice?

I'd be careful about showing that before tossi writes his orders . Also you need to upload it somewhere, you can't just link something direct from your computer.

I'd recommend Imageshack personally, and saving it as something other than a BMP

OK, step by step. You can't directly link to a file on your computer. The easiest solution in this case is to upload it to www.imageshack.us and get the link from there, then IMGing it here, or you can attach it to your post; there's a little button labled managed attachments if you use the full Post Reply box instead of the Quick Reply.

So what I would do is click the blue button "Post Reply", type some message which is longer than ten characters so the forum won't fault you on that, scroll down a little bit, find the button called Manage attachments, attach the file from your computer, and post.

EDIT: Before you do that, in paint, open the file, click save as, and change the file type to .PNG

The pink is zulu, but those are only hopeful borders.

The small city-state of Venice was at a cross-roads in it's history, a rare crisis in the otherwise peaceful land. No more was Venice a great city of trade and culture. No more were the plays of Venice read from the world over. No, Venice was becoming more and more insignificant year by year. A change was needed, and on a summer day in July, change came in the form of a man by the name of Adriano Durante.

Adriano was a naval officer who came from a rich and historic family, the Durantes. The family was reknown throughout Venice as one that had been there since the very beginning, whenever that was. All of the male members of the family had served in the navy for generations, whether it was in trade or the military. Adriano, in his mind, was the end result of generations' of work for Venice. It was his time to lead. After serving a distinguished career in the navy, Adriano became a member and the eventual leader of the Order of Cavalieri di San Marco.

On July 2nd, the Assembly of Nobles gathered to elect a new leader amongst them, the Doge. Squablling between the various factions in the Assembly led to complete disarray in the assemblyhall, and fist-fighting began. The leader of the assembly, Julius Benetii, called on the Cavalieri di San Marco to restore order to the assembly. When Adriano and his knights entered the room, they beat any noble who would not remain calm.

The assembly was quickly impressed by the composure and apparent strength of Adriano, and Benetii introduced a resolution that would name Cavalier Adriano Durante the new Doge, the leader of the executive branch of government, and the commander of the armed forces.

A non-politican had been chosen to lead the disorganized city-state. A leader was needed, and a leader was found.

TO: FELLOW LEADERS OF EUROPE
FROM: Doge Adriano Durante

I, Adraino Durante, personally welcome my fellow leaders to come to Venice and enjoy our state. A new era has begun, and we wish that our neighbors and friends will usher it in with us.

OMG!, i actually watched that show when i was a kid!.

The train roared into the Cortés station in Ciudad de México. The click click click of the train slowly diminished as the car grinded to a halt. Steam hissed out, as it crept along the floor. King Alberto I disembarked from the train. The weeks journey from Madrid to Ciudad de México, the provincial capital of Mexico, was over. The city was the largest in the Spanish colonies. Home to a great diversity of cultures and class, it was a great cultural and economic center. King Alberto left the station to meet with provincial governors. But after the meetings, he began his true intention of the trip. Alberto wandered into the streets, and talked to the people. He struck up a conversation with the local merchant about daily life and family matters. He stopped to play a catch with some children; he helped a man carry some of his merchandise. Later on, after a meal with a few families who happened to be chosen to dine with the King, Alberto remarked

‘To rule a vast and great empire, one must be in touch with his people, however far away or close by, one must show the people that he rules in order to provide the best for his people and that he cares about their concerns, not that he is a man who rules an empire from a central location, but a man who makes an effort to know his people and become acquainted with them.’

The day was getting late, King Alberto returned to his train car, ‘next stop, the pioneer city of Los Angeles, at the edge of the empire, dispatch my son Andres Lopez to Bogotá, and arrange for me to meet him in Havana in four weeks time’

The king was off, another day, another city, and more people to meet.
